The rapture is one of the most popular sermons to this day. We tend to accept it as doctrine, but it is a relatively new concept in the faith. In fact, the story was only mentioned once around 375AD after which it remained forgotten for centuries. The idea did not gain any popularity until the 1700s and did not become a mainstream Christian story until the late 1800s, possibly even the 1900s.
