  • We are back with Season Four, episode Four of 'I Am A Diva Podcast'.

With myself Edgy V, as your lovely host & Maya Lakhani.

British Indian Rock Artist, Maya Lakhani, released her highly anticipated self-produced 3rd single “Nightfall” on Friday 21st January 2022 9AM.  Just like her previous singles; Maya wrote, recorded & produced this track entirely from her bedroom, performing all guitars & vocals.  Maya learnt to do this in lockdown, but has fallen in love with producing her tracks in this way. BBC Introducing has already highlighted her as one to watch for 2022, saying “Maya Lakhani is injecting alt rock with pop sensibilities and supersizing it”.

Maya has been making waves in the rock scene with the success of her debut releases “The Line” & “Walk Alone”; which received extensive support from BBC Introducing and UK National stations Planet Rock (Wyatt Wendels) & Radio X, where John Kennedy chose Maya as one of his “X-Posure Hot One’s”.  Her music was also featured in Spotify editorial playlists and received coverage from Rolling Stone Magazine and leading British Asian newspapers Asian Voice & Eastern Eye. Maya is excited to release her latest offering “Nightfall”, a song that encapsulates her unique brand of dark stylish self-produced bedroom rock.  For fans of Garbage, PJ Harvey & Lana Del Rey.

“Nightfall” is a song inspired by bad habits and dark thoughts coming to light at night.  A time when vulnerability and darkness rise to the surface.  The chorus features the anthemic refrain “I am holding on when night falls, for my life”.  She is truly a DIY artist through and through, from producing her music from home to learning photography to create her artwork.

In this episode Maya tells us all about:

*What were her music influences growing?

*How her ‘garage band’ phase in her teens had such an influence on her?

*What has her experience been like with ‘Gate Keeping’ in the Music Industry?

*What is her music creation process?

*What she hopes to achieve with her music career & much, much more!
