Afeez has a fanboy moment on today’s episode of It's Electric! Chris Yin joins him today to have a heavy discussion about rideables, more specifically EUC’s! The guys get into a huge talk about everything from policy and education, to which EUC’s are their absolute favorites! They also share their opinions on where EUC education is lacking, and which companies have run into snags and obstacles on their quest to create the best possible electric unicycles for the rider!
How learning to ride an EUC differs from other means of transportation. How different wheels stack up against one another, and Chris’ too 3 wheels of all time. Making the most of various wheels and what goes into enjoying certain makes and models. The complete lack of education surrounding etiquette where rideables are concerned. Which wheels have had issues and obstacles to overcome during their development?“Every wheel has a different physics, every wheel has a different comfort to it”
“As soon as a new wheel comes out I get kind of a craving”
“I just want to experience as much as possible”
“People kind of have a knee-jerk reaction against training”
“I always start with a wheel, any wheel, with a lack of trust”
“There’s no perfect EUC company”
“You need to be able to fix your wheel because you’re not going to have a shop”

Michael, Nero and Andrew join Afeez on today’s episode of It’s Electric! Today’s topic? Should electric rideables be legalized, insured and registered? The guys have different points of view, and being up a ton of valid points both for and against registration, safety, and certifications! They also discuss their own circumstances, and uses for their rideables, and which way they think policy makers should go their decision making process. Should there be age limits? Should there be inspections? Should you be required to obtain a license? Listen in as they create their own policies right here on air, and find out which one of these fine gentlemen have been stopped by the police for riding their electric scooter!
EV Man’s perspective on whether or not they should be legal, insured and registered. Nero’s point of view on the subject of legalization and registration. Michael talks about multilevel certification and his views on legalization Afeez shares his own perspective on each topic and what he feels ridiculous about the entire thing“Anything with a motor by its definition is a motor vehicle according to the government”
“We can’t rely on common sense or parenting”
“There’s a difference between an electric unicycle and a scooter”

It’s Electric! has been in heavy discussions lately about Personal Electric Transportation and the policies that govern them. In this week’s episode, Afeez is joined by Terenig Topjian to talk about how the laws being considered makes sense, how they don’t, and how they could be improved upon. He also stresses the importance of basing policy on actually data, and why using existing bike laws as a precedent may not be such a bad idea.
What rideable policy concerns and voter ID laws have in common Do we even have a safety problem? Are bike laws applicable for rideables? Should we be measuring power or speed for regulatory purposes? Show us the data!“Are we applying car logic to this problem?”
“When you pass a law, it’s usually because there is a problem and you want to address it”
“Why are we comparing these things to cars? We should be comparing them to bicycles”
“Speed is what dictates safety and danger”
“Mobility should be a human right”

Welcome to It’s Electric! with Afeez Kay. This week, we’re welcoming the extremely creative Michael Quintana onto the show to talk about electric unicycles. They weren’t always the beautiful works of art they are today. Once upon a time they were clunky and felt more like a gimmick than a viable means of transportation. But in modern times, these personal electric vehicles are serious business. They save people money, help with the congestion issues in major city centres, and even put the riders in a better mood for the rest of the day (and who doesn’t want to be in a better mood?). As they grow in popularity, the policy creators and lawmakers are finding themselves uneducated and behind the times, and as a result, they’re holding back progress that could be made in making our world a cleaner and better place. Today Afeez and Michael geek out about their favourite models, the benefits of riding, and what needs to change to make the experience a better one.
How Michael found Electric Vehicles, more importantly the Electric unicycle. The most important feature of the Z10. Why training on the grass is a (somewhat) good idea. Why don’t Electric unicycles make sense to lawmakers and policy creators? The huge benefits of using a rideable EV, and the comparisons between life with them and life with cars. Why banning personal electric vehicles is the wrong move completely.“It’s not that you don’t want the exercise, but you don’t want to get to work hot and sweaty”
“This can actually expand the gap and actually be the whole mile”
“It’s, hand down, the best looking wheel on the planet right now”
“Weather changes the game. Even road surface changes the game.”
“People automatically assume it’s dangerous”
“You’re not going to ban feet because someone walked into traffic, are you?”

Jean Jose Garcia Monila joins Afeez on today’s episode of It’s Electric! to discuss legislation in Ireland, and how it impacts the use of rideable electric vehicles. With more electric scooters, skateboards and unicycles hitting the streets, it’s obvious that people are noticing the positive change they can make. The problem is that with their growing popularity, it’s becoming more difficult to navigate the laws surrounding them. In some countries see them as toys, rather than motorized vehicles, they are barely regulated at all. Other countries have made them completely illegal, making it impossible to drive them without a plate and insurance, which is impossible to get presently. Police are beginning to crack down on riders, and the punishments seem small for now, but what are the possible ramifications? Why are law-makers impeding progress? How can we make the use of rideables not only legal, but completely safe in the eyes of the government and the general public? All of this and more will be discussed right here on this episode of It’s Electric!
Challenges for rideable users in Ireland, vehicles are being seized by police What are the alternatives? What is being done to legalize electric rideable vehicles?“These vehicles are not toys, they are actually a viable means of transportation that can help reduce air pollution and congestion”
“Lately they have been cracking down”
“Electric rideables are the cleanest option right now besides walking and biking”

Pete got into EV’s after having a Eureka! moment. Shortly after, he closed down all of his companies, took every last dime he had, and started researching and investing in Electric Vehicle knowledge and information about charge points. That’s when Zero EV Ltd was born, and it has grown into a substantial company since. Pete’s outlook on business is simple: provide people with options, and information, and they will choose what’s right for them. In this episode, Pete and Afeez discuss which charge points Pete would purchase and install for personal use, how grants and incentives actually work, and what needs to happen in order to persuade more potential EV drivers to make the switch. Pete also shares that although Electric Vehicles are growing in popularity, there are still things that can be improved along the way.
People who want EV’s are already convinced, they just need to know which product is best for them Initiating change by giving people options Which grants exist and how they work Which 3 charge points would Pete choose?“When you actually see them around, it’s actually too late. You have to see it before it comes”
“Not everybody's ready for this. They never will be. You can’t convince somebody against their will”
“For the uptake of Electric Vehicles to increase substantially, you need a better infrastructure”

Welcome to the It’s Electric podcast hosted by the brilliant and passionate Afeez Kay. It’s Electric marries the fun of all different types of electric vehicles with the need for and purpose of clean energy. Through interviews with wonderful guests, Afeez discusses best and worst brands, riding experiences, the hows and the whys of the electric vehicle universe. Afeez is animated and honest. He also brings facts alongside fun. After one listens you’ll be searching for your nearest electric car rental company. Lean, but don’t out-lean, into the It’s Electric podcast.
In this episode, Afeez brings Stan Durk back to the show. In the last episode featuring Stan, he was interviewing Afeez. This episode flips things, putting Stan in the hot seat. Stan gives us a brief introduction and discusses his blog called The Electric Speed Shop (linked below). He explains his goal is to open a conversion business. He explains there are a lot of these shops on the west coast and in the UK. He is on the east coast currently and the electric vehicle industry is taking off. Stan salvages old cars (fuel) and transitioning them into the electric motors.
Stans shares that he has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering and a masters degree in engineering management. Stan says he was very interested in conversions and began researching, but there was no central location that housed several articles or videos on how-tos for conversion. This is what prompted him to create The Electric Speed Show blog.
This blog is a knowledge source for the masses. Afeez and Stan talk shop about electrification of a myriad of different types of vehicles.

Welcome to the It’s Electric podcast hosted by the knowledgeable, fun-loving, clean energy supporting Afeez Kay. The level of knowledge you currently have about electric vehicles doesn’t matter. At the end of each It’s Electric episode, you will know ten times more than when you started. This podcast isn’t just for tech-heads who already know all about the industry. That’s one thing, of many, that makes this show and the host so fantastic. Afeez makes you feel right at home and uses conversations with guests to explain the electric vehicle industry’s importance. Get ready to have a lot of fun listening to this show.
In this episode, Afeez sits down and has a chat with James Wight. James is the founder and director of the company Adventure Uncovered which advocates for social and environmental changes. The connect people through articles, events, speeches, and traveling. “Green Adventure” is a niche. James explains that he has a background in marketing and communications. With Adventures Uncovered James hopes to achieve a more environmentally-minded society through sharing stories and hosting events encouraging people to get out and experience nature first hand. (This can often trigger society to care about nature more.) Afeez shares the story of how he and James met during a clean energy initiative they were both involved in, traveling in electric cars. He says they were preaching about electric transportation and difference sources of energy outside of fossil fuel.
The most common questions James get asked in regards to his industry:
How long does it take to charge the cars? What’s the range? What is the infrastructure? How do I make a difference? How do I get involved in Green travel Green energy Affecting the climate Reduce plastic pollutionWhat works? James says increase engagement with people through articles, speeches, and even film festivals. These types of things attract people and engage them. This kicks things off which then causes the follow through to change. James says Adventure Uncovered has a goal to open conversations for influential people to connect at live events and push the topic of renewable energy resources, energy efficiency, and going green in general forward.
James see the future as bright. He has a goal to scale sustainably and have more of an impact. Investment is the most important thing right now. Currently, they [Adventure Uncovered] are investing in themselves.
“Trying to bring more diversity and inclusion to this sort of privileged space.”
“We want to inspire people, but also motivate them to take action.”
“Travel opens your mind to a lot of things. It dispells ignorance as well.”
“We don’t see the impact that our demand is making on the planet.”
“You really opened up my mind and made me more conscious.”
“I want to go beyond electric cars into clean energy generation.”

Welcome to the It’s Electric podcast hosted by the electrifying Afeez Kay. Electric vehicles are not a thing of the future. They are right now and only being built better as the years go forward. You can expect honest feedback from Afeez and his guests regarding different makes and models of a variety of different electric vehicles. You’re not just getting a one-ride recommendation either! You will feel the passion that Afeez has for this topic as soon as he begins speaking. You’ll be thinking of getting rid of or rebuilding your conventional vehicle after one episode!
In this episode, you will hear the continuation of Stan Durk’s interview of Afeez. (Listen to part one here) Afeez tells Stan currently his podcast is just for fun and for the passion of electric vehicles and he has just started building his YouTube channel. But currently, he is not getting paid for any of this. He gives purely to provide accurate information about the vehicles.
Countries that are doing well in EV (electric vehicle) adoption according to Afeez:
Norway Denmark Finland Iceland Sweden Greenland Scotland ChinaCountries that are performing poorly:
United States The political landscape appears to be more important than the actual landscape/clean energyAfeez branches out talking about some countries false assumption that electric vehicle means electric cars. There are many types of electric vehicles:
Electric moped Electric scooters Electric motorcycles Electric unicycles Public transportation (converted)Stan asks Afeez other than Tesla, what companies are up and coming?
KIA Hyundai LGAfeez and Stan weigh in on where Tesla is headed with a tiny discussion about Elon Musk
Tesla made a mistake releasing model X Diverted attention Spent too much time Tesla is a pioneer Should focus on clean energy generation internationally Discussion of Tesla v SpaceX Manufacturer Concerns Can only buy parts from Tesla Can only be serviced by Tesla Sustaining their mission statement means eventually they will have to make these items available to other retailers for the public. Similar to AppleMoney notwithstanding, what cars would Afeez convert to electric?
BMW 33i 346 Toyota Supra“There are a lot of people that are more knowledgeable than me. I want to get that knowledge and use It’s Electric as a vehicle to share.”

In this episode, Afeez is in the hot seat because he is being interviewed by his guest Stan Durk. Stan jumps right into things without any hesitation and asks Afeez for some background on what piqued his interest electric cars and unicycles. Stan also inquires about the start of the It’s Electric podcast in 2018.
Afeez explains that 6 years ago he was in Venice and saw a man driving a scooter which was quiet and clean. He went online to do research, came across Tesla, and became fascinated. He also fell in love with their mission statement: To accelerate the advent of sustainable transportation by bringing compelling mass market electric cars to market as soon as possible. Searched for alternatives due to the price point with Tesla and found other available brands of electric cars (BMW, VW, Nissan Jaguar, Renault . . . etc) Went for a test drive and became hooked on not only electric cars but all different types of electric vehicles (EV) Afeez wanted to share his personal mission statement with anyone who would listen. To educate people on clean transportation and clean energy generation.
