  • This is my career story. Once upon a time, I was just a ‘nerdy teacher's pet' grappling with the decision of going to university or following an unconventional path. Today I run a successful international consulting business off the back of what’s been a pretty interesting career. I've come a long way from my first job as a receptionist in 2007! From long hours in finance to co-founding successful businesses in New Zealand, I've learned that saying yes to opportunities and showing that you want to contribute value is a winning combination.

  • Today we're taking a deep look at the societal pressures that equate self-worth to career success, and challenging the narrative that your job should be your ultimate passion. This episode explores the psychological benefits of hobbies, and how they can lead to personal growth, new relationships, and provide a sanctuary from external pressures, and considers a perspective that I don’t often hear talked about - that work can simply be an enabler for pursuing your passions outside of work. I also share my personal journey of rediscovering the joy of hobbies outside of work despite already learning the lesson of the importance of doing so before, and how I’ve been learning to play the pipe organ!

  • What are the two traits most successful people have and what’s stopping you from having them? I've seen these traits in action and in this episode we break down what they are, what could be stopping you from cultivating those traits within yourself, and why they’re important. If you loved the ‘Elevate your Goal Setting Game' then you’ll love this one too. It’s a must-listen for those seeking to unlock their full potential and build a life they genuinely want to live.

  • What if the one thing you thought you wanted most in life turned out not to be a thing at all, but a feeling? In this episode I cover how we often mistake our longing for feelings of accomplishment, security, and beauty for a pursuit of just material possessions themselves. Even money, houses, cars - once our basic human needs are met, it’s not these items we crave, but in fact the feelings they represent. I posted a short video about this on TikTok which went viral, and got me a ton of subscribers on YouTube - and here I unpack the thoughts behind that video a bit and challenge you to consider how you can give yourself the gift of the feelings you think you might get from some of the things you want, today. (0:00:00) - Prioritizing Feelings Over Material Possessions (4 Minutes) Discuss the idea of wanting the feelings that come with material things rather than the things themselves. Financial security is a need, not a want, and if you are living in a first world country and have a job and roof over your head, this concept can still be beneficial to you. Here we address the elephant in the room and clear up any confusion about money and needs vs. wants. (0:03:52) - Seeking Feelings in Material Things (7 Minutes) We explore the idea of wanting the feelings that come with material things rather than the things themselves. We use financial security as an example of a need and discuss how it can make us feel secure and safe. We move on to talk about houses, cars, and toys and how they can make us feel a sense of accomplishment, flexibility, or even being a good parent. We then examine the idea of why these material things should not be the source of our fulfillment and happiness. Lastly, we discuss the importance of seeking those feelings elsewhere and what happens if we can't find those feelings. (0:11:08) - Joy of Feeling Accomplished and Beautiful (1 Minutes) We explore the idea that instead of buying material things to make ourselves happy, we should focus on the feelings that come with those things. We discuss ways to give ourselves the gift of feeling that today.

  • Have you ever been swayed into thinking wealth and material possessions are the only measures of success? When in actual fact, reaching your personal aims and goals - which are as unique to you as your fingerprints - is the true meaning of success? What success means is just one of the myths I'm busting today alongside two other lies people tell themselves about that S word. And of course, the episode will leave you with some tips to take away and use as launchpads to your own success. Are you ready to challenge your understanding of success and redefine it on your own terms?

Today I unravel the knotted threads of mindset slumps, offering insight into why we sometimes feel "meh" - and what we can do about it. On Track always shines a light on the importance of maintaining a positive headspace, and this episode provides actionable hacks to help you pull yourself out of these funk periods. It even has a flowchart for you to download and follow when you're feeling stuck! Will the solution to your slump be starting with a single desired outcome and breaking it down into manageable steps, or something else? In this episode I also cover the importance of having a clear goal in your professional and personal life, especially if you're self-employed. I also explore the two key qualities of successful people, their ability to take action and their clarity on what they want. Even when you have a clear goal in mind, you can still find yourself in a mindset slump, so I'll also be providing a detailed breakdown on how to overcome a slump if that's you. I created this system to figure it all out based on the dozens, if not hundreds of conversations I've had with clients over the years, and written all down so you can benefit too. • Ever wondered why you are struggling to succeed? Could there be barriers you're not aware of, hindering your path to success? In today's episode, we dig into the hidden obstacles you might be facing - either ones that come from within you, or from other people. Societal barriers or the ones we put on ourselves can have a catastrophic effect on our growth and achievement of goals, so I really want to share one thing that can help reduce how much we encounter these barriers and trigger us to do something about our behaviour.

That secret weapon? Cultivating self-awareness. The more we understand ourselves, the better we can combat these challenges, achieve a higher level of performance, and inspire or support those around us - because we all deserve to be successful. Buckle up, this journey to self-discovery and success begins now!

  • What if I told you that being delusional could actually lead you to success? In this episode I reveal the power of "constructive delusion" and 5 ways a bit of a delusional mindset can help you combat imposter syndrome, self-doubt and more. Delusion can empower you to take risks and step outside your comfort zone! And there are a few achievements in my own life that came purely from the unwavering self-belief I had because I chose to believe in what my imagination could conjure. Discover how embracing constructive or "positive" delusion can transform your perspective on obstacles and setbacks, allowing you to bounce back quickly and continue pursuing your goals. I'll also share a crazy story of how I turned a seed of an idea into reality within a year, even amid lockdowns and border closures. You'll learn how to harness the power of positive delusion to achieve your own success and of course the pitfalls to watch out for. Don't miss out on this eye-opening exploration of the unexpected benefits of delusion and get ready to start dreaming! • Do you ever feel like your success is met with resentment and criticism instead of support and admiration? I'm tackling a crucial topic today: Tall Poppy Syndrome - the damaging social phenomenon where successful individuals are criticized, alienated, and ultimately "cut down" - which threatens to stifle ambition and innovation in the next generation. Join me as I trace the origin of this social issue back to ancient Roman mythology and explore its negative effects on individuals and society as a whole, but most importantly what we can do to combat it! With inspiration from Sir Ray Avery, Jay Geldard, and Israel Adesanya, I discuss the responsibility of the media in perpetuating Tall Poppy Syndrome and how businesses, organizations, and the wider community can help create a cultural shift to change mindsets. I also examine the impact of this phenomenon on mental health and ambition, ultimately offering solutions on how we can all combat Tall Poppy Syndrome and embrace success. Don't miss this crucial conversation; together, we can pave the way for a more supportive and uplifting future. We're not having a whinge, we're just really worried about the next generation and what it's potentially going to do to them. We trace the origin of Tall Poppy Syndrome to an ancient Roman mythology, where Tarquinius took his son, Sextus Tarquinius, to the gardens and, using his staff, demonstrated that by cutting off the tallest poppies, one could prevent them from overshadowing the others. We also discuss the negative effects of Tall Poppy Syndrome and ways to combat it. (0:05:02) - The Impact of Tall Poppy Syndrome (11 Minutes) Today, we're exploring the impact of Tall Poppy Syndrome on New Zealand society. We discuss how this phenomenon can discourage ambition and innovation, stifle personal and professional growth, and hinder societal progress. • Does this ring a bell? Some people seem to be blessed looking in from the outside when in fact they're miserable. Others are miserable because they want to be as externally blessed as others they see, but aren't! In this episode, I dive into the concept of being externally blessed but still miserable, which is essentially when people achieve material success but remain unhappy. I discuss how society often conditions us to follow a certain path that leads to accumulating possessions and reaching milestones that may not necessarily bring lasting happiness or fulfillment. And who's breaking this mold? Gen Z certainly are, as well as Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus, known together as "The Minimalists". They break this mold by focusing on experiences and living more minimalist lifestyles. We also explore the importance of finding contentment and sustained fulfillment through personal passions rather than chasing material success. Join me as we uncover ways to find happiness beyond societal expectations and create a more fulfilling life.
