Alcoholism is a nasty disease. It takes hold of you and robs you of any common sense and often thrusts you into a path of destruction. There are many rehab programs out there and one that is most common is Alcoholics Anonymous or AA. AA is a 12-step program with the basic principle that you surrender to God and that you are then rendered powerless to the disease.
My guest featured today on Spotlight on eWomenNetwork turns all of that on it's ear. Teresa Rodden is a generational alcoholic who went the traditional route of AA and she was told that she was on a pink cloud and one day she’ll come crashing down. Well, that didn’t sit right with Teresa and she decided she was going to hop on that big pink cloud and trail blaze a new concept for curing alcoholism called, "HOPE," which stands for Having Other Possibilities to Explore. Teresa is the author of Wholly Sober, How I Stopped Thinking About Drinking and Started Loving My Life. She helps you understand what it’s like to be an alcoholic, why these traditional 12-step programs don’t work for everyone, and what HOPE is doing now to save those suffering from this type of addiction. -

On the Spotlight on eWomenNetwork Podcast, Wendy Darling takes you on a journey from a freak accident that cost her everything, including custody of her then 4 1/2 year old son, to living her ultimate fulfilling life now. Her own use of the 3 "L" formula is the backbone of her own work to self-discovery and the cornerstone of her how she helps others follow her path. Excerpt from my interview with Wendy Darling: "I passed out and fell over a ledge. I fell over 25 feet, and the good news in some ways is I landed on my right leg. My right leg was shattered. I had multiple surgeries and didn’t know for about 11 months if I would walk again. My back was broken and then I was later diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. I was in the hospital, it was around the 4-week mark, my former husband chose that time to say he no longer wanted to be married, and he was awarded full custody of our son who was only 4 ½ at the time. That’s really when I broke into a whole lot of pieces, because there were a lot of things I enjoyed and was proud of, but nothing like being Adam’s mom."

eWomenNetwork 2017 Managing Director of the Year with the Colorado Springs chapter, Julie Davis, shares how teaching high school English in Yuma, Arizona, and being a nationally ranked ski racer taught her about running a business and maximizing productivity.
Here's a excerpt from the interview:
Julie Davis: "I grew up in a very affluent ski town in Colorado and went to a very affluent college. I had never really experienced a poor place, and to move down to Yuma where we’re 22 miles from Mexico, we were 5 miles from the border of California, and be thrown into a school where the books were probably close to 20 years old. There were no teacher editions. Where you write your name in the textbook, it was like those lines, plus the end of the page, plus flip the page and then they were all down the back of the page. So, I got to work. I mean what do you do?
