Happy _ day! Any day is the best day to change something that no longer serves you... like a habitual drinking habit for example.
Today's episode is an excerpt from a class I taught on redirecting your thinking. Because we act most of the time based on how we feel, and our feelings are generated in a high or low vibration from the quality of our thoughts, the best way to change your behavior is to witness and understand your thinking processes in a loving and compassionate way.
Disclaimer - the episode ends a bit abrupt with me saying that "alcohol is a void", which I stand behind although I would typically prefer to end my podcasts on an elevated note. So let's add one here -
You are more in control of your self and your thoughts than you may currently believe - but all of that CAN be changed!!

A consistent meditation practice is a cornerstone of having a Mindful Drinking lifestyle. When you take the time to create a stronger connection with yourself, the need to reach for drinks (or even anything that is outside of yourself!) becomes less and less powerful.

When you start to notice or continue practicing becoming aware of how you are talking to yourself, you will become aware of how your thoughts are driving your behavior.
When people tell me that they "Got a case of the Fuck its" for example, I ask them how were they talking to themselves in that moment when they were also deciding to have a 4th or a 5th drink or to finish the bottle.
They always respond that their thoughts were not in a good place at that moment.
Changing your thought patterns changes everything!
Notice how you speak to yourself and adjust your thinking to be more loving, compassionate, and nurturing, and see how that helps to change your behavior.

Your current situation with alcohol did not develop overnight. Your behavior with drinking is governed by a system of beliefs that have been with you for a long time.

Moderation techniques have their place but on their own I don't think it's enough to HEAL your Relationship with alcohol.
However, it is really important to know how much you are actually drinking and for this awareness you need to know your units metrics for standard sized drinks.
