Episode 38 of the Neon Moiré Show is with conference organizer Matthew Haynes. For over a decade he organizes the Brisbane-based The Design Conference. This year he is back for the first full hybrid design conference in Australia after the pandemic. In this episode, we talk about organizing a conference after COVID, pivoting to hybrid, live streaming and combining the two for a full 360 immersive experience.

Among other projects, Mike has designed for films such as Blade Runner 2049, HBO's Game of Thrones, as well as for video games such as the Call of Duty and Horizon Zero Dawn. Mike's major interest is in the psychology of storytelling and how an understanding of mythology and contemporary psychology is crucial to understanding how great stories work. Thomas Dahm will talk with the guests about their paths to becoming a designer, starting and building up their own independent design studio. What it means being a female designer in the age of social media and becoming a public speaker during the rise of creative conferences.
You are invited to join the conversation at MU, an explorative presentation platform that operates in a rich international network of creatives who define the liminal space between ‘what art is and what art can be’. MU is based in Eindhoven, NL. The Neon Moiré Show Live is part of the 17th edition of the Dutch Design Week.
