    About Lesline: Lesline is an award-winning Registered Nurse and Certified Yoga Teacher. Lesline is back at school in pursuit of obtaining her Master in Nursing to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to help Black moms postpartum. Juggling the roles as a mother to a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl, Lesline intimately understands the challenges of motherhood. Through her virtual yoga sessions and personalized yoga coaching sessions, she empowers busy moms to conquer stress, discover inner peace, and practice self-care. Lesline's transformative efforts have garnered recognition, including features in Nurse Blake Magazine and AfroTV. Beyond her professional pursuits, Lesline serves her community passionately as the Director of the Orlando chapter for Women on The Rise, a nonprofit dedicated to uplifting girls and women in Central Florida.

She graduated from Spelman College (B.A. in Psychology) in 2016 and Columbia University (M.A. in Clinical Psychology) in 2018. Alexis' clinical interests include working with diverse and underserved populations presenting with trauma and other stress responses. She has had experience in various settings including an outpatient hospital, correctional facilities, a VA medical hospital, college counseling centers and faith-based environments. Her research interests include how race related stressors influence health disparities, and exploring the factors that promote resilience, quality of life, and the success of Black Americans.

    About Kareema Smith: Kareema is currently pursuing a doctorate in Counseling Psychology and is in the final phase of her training. She is also completing an APA-accredited internship in Health Service Psychology at the University of Virginia. Her view of healing is centered at the heart of connection. She believes that as human beings, we are wired to connect; as a result, we grow through empathic, loving, and authentic relationships. As a researcher, her interests relate to examining both psychological stressors and aspects of positive psychology such as well-being and resilience. More specifically, she particularly focuses on the intersection between racism-related stress and psychological thriving and how this relates to healing for Black people. Her career goal is to work as a practitioner in a university counseling center while gaining experience in leadership. Long term, she strives to merge her experiences in higher education/student affairs and counseling psychology to serve in a leadership role that focuses on developing, promoting, and advocating for mental health/wellness at an institutional level. Many of Kareema’s values are related to love and community and she thrives from spending time with family and friends, reading, and traveling.
