  • In this week's new podcast episode, I'm joined by a special guest to talk about something I don't often talk about on Code Red: Men.

My guest's name is Jeff Later, and I've known him for years. He's a pro body builder, fitness coach, and lifestyle coach.

To look at him, you'd likely assume that he only works with bodybuilders.

But the reality is, he works mostly with men and women over forty, with sixty-five percent of his clients being female (because women, in general, are more open to receiving instruction than are men).

Jeff and I have talked before about the state of our country's health, and Jeff recently shared a thoroughly researched (and scary) statistic with me: The fathers of today's men had more testosterone than today's men do; and their grandfathers had even more.

In fact, society-wide, we've seen severe declines in testosterone and other hormones (in both men and women).

Women have testosterone, too, and in both men and women, it influences muscle mass, longevity, mood, libido, and MORE (when it's present in the proper amounts for each gender).

After hearing about this from Jeff, I invited him onto this podcast episode to talk about men.

Yes, ninety-three percent of Code Red's clients are female...

But if that's you, you also interact with men and have them in your life.

Maybe there are even men in your life who aren't very healthy, and you wish you knew how to reach them.

If so, be sure you tune into this week's podcast episode, where Jeff and I will talk about society's view of men, women's interactions with and attitude towards them and how it affects their hormones, plus hormones in general and MUCH more.

Listen to this episode to get a unique perspective that will help you AND may help you help the men in your life reclaim their health.

Plus, you're gonna hear a ton of health and wellness facts you won't hear in the mainstream medical world or your Facebook news feed.

  • I've been to Europe eleven times and traveled all over the world during my boxing career.

And one thing I saw over and over is that in most European countries (not all, but most), obesity is very rare.

One of my Certified Coaches recently asked me why that is. Meaning, why are Americans so much heavier than most Europeans?

Well, one reason is that Europe has banned most of the gross chemicals we pack into our foods (especially our processed foods).

They also don't do GMOs or add inflammatory seed oils to everything.

Even fast food restaurants like McDonald's have fewer ingredients and fewer chemicals in their "food."

But all that is just the tip of the iceberg.

In this podcast episode, I'm diving into the reasons most European countries are not as fat or sick as we are in the U.S.

The reason I'm focusing on most is an eating style known as grazing...including what it is and why it adds to our obesity and disease.

Tune into this episode for the full scoop on why grazing is the enemy. Plus, learn more about why most Europeans don't battle their weight like we do in the U.S.

  • Last month, I took Hazel to detection training school in Canada.

I did it because Hazel is a working dog. A Belgian Malinois.

Belgians are the most agile, heroic, and (potentially) lethal dog breed on the planet.

That's why law enforcement agencies use them as detection and apprehension dogs.

Hazel was too small and too sweet to officially work for law enforcement, which is one reason I decided to adopt her.

But she's still a Malinois, and she's not built to be a family pet...

Which is why I signed us up for detection training school...so I better understood how to give her what SHE needs, as a Malinois.

The detection class itself was really fun, but going to Canada was an expensive, exhausting pain in the butt in pretty much every way.

Seriously, there were plenty of reasons NOT to go...like the money (I spent thousands of dollars on the class, the travel, and the Airbnb I stayed at), like being gone from home for too long, and like having to get up at 4 AM to get my work done before the class started.

But I did it all anyway, and even though it really kicked my butt, I'm SO glad I did it.

    Why?

Because I might not get the chance again.

What if the training company shuts down?

What if the world situation changed, and I couldn't fly to Canada?

What if my schedule got even fuller, and it got even MORE inconvenient to make the time?

I get how easy it is to justify postponing stuff because you assume you'll get another chance.

But as I share in this week podcast episode, one day you WON'T have the chance.

    Tomorrow is not promised.

And if you keep waiting for "one day," you may "one day" yourself into missing out entirely...including the chance to be healthy, slim, and strong.

Tune into this episode for motivation to clean up your health NOW, while you still can.\

  • While I was in Calgary a few weeks back, I got coffee from the drive-thru of a coffee shop called Tim Horton's.

On the way out of the drive-thru, I spotted a sign that said, "See you tomorrow."

Not, "Have a nice day" or "Thank you for your business," but "See you tomorrow."

On the one hand, it's kinda brilliant. It plants this little seed that you should come back tomorrow, and does it in a subtle way so you don't feel like you're being told what to do.

But in some situations, getting someone to come back is one of the WORST things you can try to do.

And if you're a customer who keeps going back, you could be doing yourself more harm than good in these certain situations.

Watch this episode to find out why, including why and when YOU should think twice about "going back tomorrow."

  • There are three months out of the year when a higher than normal percentage of people try to lose weight.

It's interesting to see how many people mindlessly fall into the pattern of waiting until one of these three months.

So why is it even an issue?

Because when you wait for them (even if you don't realize that's what you're doing), you're programming yourself for failure...

Just like you are when you think you should wait until Monday, or until you're not on your monthly cycle, or until some other outside circumstance falls into place and life is perfect.

The reality is that you're ready when YOU decide you're ready.

When you get yourself to that point, nothing will stop you.

I know because I see it all the time.

To find out what these three biggest months for weight loss are, and more importantly, how to avoid the unconscious trap of thinking you should wait for one of them to get your weight and wellness under control, tune into this episode!

  • This week’s episode is about how to avoid “sales at all costs” companies that don’t care about your success.

Here’s an example of what I mean.

On July 7, a guy pulled out in front of me. I couldn't stop in time and T-boned him, leaving me without a vehicle.

I decided to buy a Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40, as I'd always wanted a vehicle like that, and it's a good vehicle for summer.

I found one in Lake Tahoe, bought it, and made arrangements with a car transport company to drive it to me in Boise.

The transport company told me they'd get it to me in one to three days, and it would cost over $600.

😬 Sheesh, but I agreed to their terms, because it might cost me that much to fly down there and drive it back myself.

Well, one day passed, and nothing.

Then two days passed. Still nothing.

I called them to make sure everything was going okay, and they said they were still looking for a driver.

They also suddenly clarified that when they said they'd get it to me in one to three days, they really meant they'd "try" to.

THEN they said, "If you really want your rig picked up, we can do a 'guaranteed' pick-up, but that will be double the price."

    😡

They also told me it would be extra because my FJ40 had a winch on the front.

    But here's the real kicker.

When they told me about their "guaranteed pick-up," they said they'd "give it the old college try."

Uh no. I ain't paying you $1500 for a "college try." It's either a guarantee or it's not.

I ended up paying someone local (and unaffiliated with this company) to drive down and get the FJ40 for me.

I was telling Andrea (Code Red's Director of Coaching) about all this, and she said, "Yeah, so many companies out there will do ANYTHING to make sales at all costs, even if it means destroying the long-term relationship with their customers."

THAT is exactly why you've gotta be careful about stuff that sounds too good to be true (like magic shots or gimmicks that promise you don't have to make any changes to get and keep the weight off).

Some companies have zero problem telling you whatever fantasy they think you wanna hear in order to get you to buy their crap.

There are plenty of GOOD companies out there, too.

Tune into this week's podcast for tips on how to tell the difference between the ones that care and the ones that don’t.

  • Picture this.

You're following the program and doing well. Then you make a bad choice and set yourself back.

And instead of getting right back on track, you abandon the program entirely...because if you can't do it perfectly, you aren't gonna do it at all.

I see this mindset in a lot of people. It's called the all or nothing mindset, and it is NOT your friend.

Case in point: This week's podcast guest, Lory Stobart, lost 205 pounds in 18 months on the Code Red Lifestyle™...

Which she NEVER would have done if she'd given in to the all or nothing mindset.

If you beat yourself up and quit when you make a mistake or a bad decision, tune into this episode and hear why leaving behind the "all or nothing mindset" is your ticket to FINALLY getting and keeping the weight off.

  • I talked to my cousin, Hannah, a few weeks ago at a family wedding and invited her onto my podcast as a guest...because she's a teacher and youth pastor who figured out how to make Code Red work for her.

Before she started Code Red, Hannah’s bones would crack when she got out of bed. She was in pain, and it was difficult to lift things and squeeze herself between the desks in her classroom.

Hannah’s journey with Code Red actually started after a dream she had last year (2023). In her dream she had lost all the weight she was carrying and became pregnant (fertility is part of her health journey).

Hannah told me the Lord gave her that dream...so when a friend encouraged her to care for her health, she decided to sign up for the Code Red Lifestyle™.

She started on March 4, 2023, and says she's never looked back.

If you're a teacher, nurse, caregiver, or someone with any kind of crazy schedule who struggles to make Code Red work for you (or you flat-out think you can't make it work), tune into this episode to hear how Hannah committed to Code Red and made it work...even in spite of her doubts and insecurities around whether she could (or would) stick with it.

You'll also hear about Hannah's inner transformation, including how she went from people pleasing to confidently saying no (without hurting people's feelings).

  • Most people agree that sugar tastes good.

Yet most people don't know that "tasty sugar" is also a chronic, dose-dependent hepatotoxin.

Put another way, sugar is a liver toxin when you eat too much too often.

There's a safe threshold for sugar, just like there's a safe threshold for arsenic.

But most people in today's society eat WAAAAY above that safe threshold.

That's why, in this week's new podcast, I'm gonna tell you what happens when you STOP eating sugar.

So if you're eating sugar and you also struggle with:

    Sugar cravings

    Low energy/fatigue

    Fatty liver

    Vision problems (including vision correction)

    A weak immune system

    A bad (or declining) memory

Heart disease (or risk of heart disease)

    Diabetes or pre-diabetes

    Moodiness, anger, and/or anxiety

    Brain fog

Intestinal issues like gas, bloating, and heartburn

Then tune into this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle to learn what happens when you get off the sugar. It might be exactly what you need to finally free yourself from sugar's choke hold on your health.

  • Code red - For this episode, I'm sharing my answers to the top SIX most asked questions I've been getting this summer.

I got these questions from reading comments on my YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok channels.

Here are the six questions I'm gonna answer in the episode:

"How is Miles?" (Miles is my ex-husband. We were together for ten years.)

"Anything new happening for you, Cristy?"

How is Hazel?" (Hazel is my Belgian Malinois who turned two a couple months ago. She's featured in a lot of my content and is quite a character.)
"Why did you grow out your hair and change the color?"

"Why are you competing in bodybuilding again?"

    "Are you SEEING anyone?"
Yep, these are all personal questions about me rather than about the Code Red program. (I've also done podcasts where I answer common Code Red program questions.)

And, since so many people seem to wanna know the answers, I'm dedicating this episode to answering them.

If knowing the answers interests you, tune in to this episode to hear them!

  • A few months ago, Instagram suggested I start following a guy named Jake Thomas. I'd never heard of him, but when I saw that we followed a lot of the same people, ran in the same circles, and had a lot in common, I thought, "Why not?"

One thing Jake said that stuck with me was, “Every day is day one.”

See, Jake grew up in New Orleans in a suburban family. He appeared “good” on the outside and his family seemed “perfect"...but things were NOT good OR perfect.

Having no direction or purpose in his life, and while carrying a lot of suppressed emotional baggage he didn't know what to do with, Jake joined the Marines at age 17, where he found leadership, assertiveness, and mission.

But after he left the Marines, he lost all sense of identity. Even working in the oil fields and making plenty of money, he couldn't handle reality and escaped with booze and "pleasurable company." He also got fat and inflamed.

His turning point came at age 30, when he finally got fed up and asked himself, “Dude! Where are you going? What are you doing?!”

Determined to clean up his act, Jake researched human physiology and discovered that what we eat impacts everything in our lives, including our mind and spirit.

Jake took control of his eating (he went carnivore) and adopted the same training style used in recruit training in the Marines, which is where "every day is day one" comes from.

The day recruits ARRIVE for training is day ZERO. The day they START is day ONE.

As Jake explains, it doesn’t matter what you look like on day zero. When training starts on day one, it’s on. Everybody is the same on day one.

Jake also says that “The single most effective thing we can do as human beings is controlling what we put in our mouth.”

Amen! And you can start doing that today, even if you've never done it a day in your life or you've gone back to your old ways.

Every day is day one, which means every day you can "start training" again.

For more motivation and encouragement to move beyond past choices, guilt, shame, and any other crud holding you back, tune into this episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle, where I talk with Jake Thomas about why EVERY day is day one.

  • Exodus 14 of the Bible includes a famous story everyone’s heard about: The parting of the Red Sea.

The Israelites were fleeing captivity and slavery in Egypt at the hands of Pharaoh.

With the Egyptian army closing in on them, the Israelites stood at the edge of the Red Sea with nowhere to go.

So God told Moses to stretch out his arm to part the waters...

BUT the waters didn’t part until the children of Israel TOOK A STEP toward the Red Sea.

In the New Testament of the Bible, while Jesus was walking on water, he told Peter to take a step toward him - ON the water - to meet him.

These stories remind me that the first step is usually the hardest.

(Or, as we say in boxing, the first round is the hardest.)

For example, at the half-marathon most of my Coaches and I ran in Jackson Hole, Wyoming this year, that first mile was the hardest.

The first step is usually the scariest, too, no matter what you're doing...starting a business, going on a first date, or even starting the Code Red Lifestyle™.

I wish more people understood that NOT taking that hard or scary first step is worse than the fear or difficulty of taking it.

I’m not good at very many things, but I don’t fear taking chances, because when I take a chance, I have a 50/50 chance of being right.

Sometimes I’m right. Sometimes I’m not. But I find out.

If I don't take a chance, on the other hand, I have a zero percent chance of being right.

Tune into this episode to find out why taking that first step and finding out if you're right is the key to an amazing, fulfilling life that you'll be proud of (and quite possibly, the key to getting and keeping your weight off).

  • If I had to pick someone to be stuck on a deserted island with (or even go through the apocalypse with), it would be a Code Red Rebel.

That's because we rebel against gimmicks and instead pick our hard and we do hard things.

We rebel against a society, a government, and an education system that brainwashed us to believe lies like:

You "have" to exercise to lose weight.
You "have" to eat low fat to lose fat.
You "have" to eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day.
You "have" to eat 9 to 11 servings of grain a day.

That dogma has kept us sick and fat for over 70 years.

But a Code Red Rebel doesn’t bend the knee to that narrative.

The Code Red Lifestyle™ is structured for more than safe, sustainable weight loss without gimmicks, shots, or exercise.

It's also structured to help you become anti-fragile in every way - physically, socially, and mentally.

That's why Code Red Rebels are tougher than your average bear. They're anti-fragile.

To hear more about being anti-fragile with Code Red, tune into this episode.

  • This episode is gonna ruffle some feathers. It's one of those things a lot of people do NOT wanna hear.

It’s also something most people think about and deal with all day every day. It’s on our minds (maybe consciously or unconsciously), and it is shaping our daily lives.

    What am I talking about?

I'm talking about the fact that each of us are a walking billboard.

How we show up in the world sends a message, and we're not always thinking about the message we're sending.

And whether we like it or not, other people judge us based on how we show up.

Tune into this episode to get my take on how and why you are a walking billboard, and how you can influence how other people perceive you (for better or worse).

  • In today's cancel culture environment, speaking hard truths is something more and more people are scared to do.

I get it. I get angry DMs all the time from people who don't like my direct, no-B.S. approach.

In last week's episode of Rebel Weight Loss & Lifestyle, I talked about how they're counting on your surrender.

Well, that applies to more than your health.

It applies to surrendering what you believe in, too.

If standing up for what you believe in is something you're scared to do, it's understandable, and THIS podcast episode might help you feel more empowered to do it.

It's about being willing to risk it ALL for what you believe.

Whether you agree with me on everything or not, give it a listen and let it fuel you to stand up to the food pushers, to the people who claim drinking water will kill you, and to the people who think you should get a shot that starves your body of nutrients instead of losing weight with real food.

  • Drug, food, and insurance companies, along with the government and the "health" care industry (among others), are getting rich off your obesity and poor health.

Here are a few stats to bring this fact to life for you:

The medical costs of an obese person are 40% higher than those of a non-obese person.

Obesity brings in a staggering $261 billion in obesity-related medical issues in the United States alone.

A 2022 study showed that obesity put people at a 71% higher risk for cancer.

In 2022, cancer drugs alone raked in $147 billion, and that’s projected to almost triple over the next 10 years. A UK study showed that cancer cells don’t use ketones for energy, so diets low in carbohydrates and high in fat may help starve cancer cells by lowering glucose levels...which suggests that high levels of glucose, which typically result in high levels of insulin, may feed cancer cells. Bad news for today's sugar-addicted society. A 2020 study in the National Survey of Children’s Health showed that one in six kids in the USA is obese. Childhood obesity has tripled since 1980. (All the stats above are gonna get worse as this generation of obese kids grows up.)

There's no money in healthy people, but there are BILLIONS of dollars (at least) in obesity and disease.

And the companies, broken "health" care system, and government getting rich off your poor health are counting on you to surrender your personal power to take control of your health, curl up with that comfort food, and line their pockets.

If that doesn't make you mad, it should.

To find out more about why you’re manipulated into hurting yourself to make companies and the government money, plus how the system is set up to make you and your kids sick, fat, and dependent on food that slowly poisons you, check out this episode.

It's time to take your power BACK!

  • In this new podcast episode, I'm talking about the top three things I would change if I were to start Code Red over again.

Code Red’s been around for fourteen years. It was 2017 when it really took off.

The way I run things now is different in a lot of ways than how I ran things back then.

Some things I absolutely would not change, but some things I for sure would.

What I hope you'll take away from this episode is:

Stuff's always gonna happen that you can't predict, but it can't be an excuse not to take action (0r you'll never get anywhere).

You can't change what happened in the past. You can only learn from it and use those lessons to make better decisions moving forward.

No matter what you do, not everyone's going to like it when you're YOU. Conforming to what "everyone else" thinks of you is a sure way to feel resentful and miserable for most of your life.

To hear the three things I'd do differently if I were starting Code Red over, and why they inspired the takeaways I shared above, check out this episode.

  • This episode is all about the impact YOU can make. People are watching your weight loss journey, and they want what you have. (Just because they don’t “follow” you doesn’t mean they don’t follow you!)

You do NOT have to be an influencer, business owner, YouTube star, or "famous" in some way to make a difference.

Your coworkers are aware that you passed up the pizza and instead brought your own lunch. They've noticed that you're setting boundaries.

Your resolve, your strength, your commitment, your dedication, your discipline...they're noticing it all, even if they don't say ONE SINGLE WORD.

People who don't have structure, but see you implementing it and wish they could do it, too...they might make jokes or tease you, but behind that laugh is probably someone who's frustrated with themselves and wants what you have.

Make no mistake: people are watching you. That means YOU have an opportunity to inspire them (just like someone you watched probably inspired you).

Tune into this episode to learn more about the positive impact you can make on the people who are watching you (especially if you're part of the Code Red Referral Partner Program!).

  • People often manage to stay motivated Monday through Thursday.

But halfway through Friday, the weekend mindset kicks in and they start taking a break from caring.

By Saturday, they're checked out; and on Sunday, they're mustering their strength for the week ahead.

If your goal is to rest and recover during the weekend, that's one thing.

But if your goal is to get and keep the weight off?

"Taking your weekends off" from healthy eating is a sure way to drag out weight loss mode…indefinitely.

Whether it's margaritas with your co-workers Friday night after work, Dominos with your family for lunch on Saturday, or Golden Corral after church on Sunday, you end up dehydrated, tired, and inflamed.

Then Monday rolls around, and you start the process all over again...all because you let your weekend become your weak end.

If you're stuck in this cycle, tune into this episode for tips on how to stop weak endings to your weeks, so you can be DONE losing weight.

  • A friend of mine recently had a miscarriage. This was after going through IVF, hormone treatments, and working SO hard to get herself healthy, so she could get pregnant and carry a fetus.

It was tough. But she began to come up with a plan, which was to get back to baseline, because she’d gained 15 pounds doing IVF and wanted to lose that.

I suggested that what she needed was to reset and recover, and give herself time to heal her grieving heart.

Resetting and recovering are things many people dismiss as "being weak" or "wasting time"...OR as something you only do if you've gone through an accident, miscarriage, divorce, loss, or some other tough experience.

But the reality is, resetting and recovering is good to do in a lot of different situations.

Yes, there are times to push.

There are also times to reset and recover.

To be clear, reset and recover doesn’t mean you go backwards.

To find out what it DOES mean, and how to use it to be successful in your weight loss, join me for this episode!
