Well it was not to be, the Kings were not able to jump into the top 4 of the draft with a 3.8% odds of doing it.
Instead, it was the Mavericks, the team that demolished the Kings a month ago in the Play-In that get the #1 pick and the Spurs, the team that the Kings traded De'Aaron Fox to, who get the #2 pick.
This is compounded by their pick going to Atlanta from the Kevin Huerter trade, so not a great day for the Kings.
But with that pick conveying, the Kings can start anew and get to work on revamping the team for next season.

The Kings made a few changes to their coaching staff by letting go of a lot of the assistant coaches from last year. Doug Christie will get to bring in his new staff for next year and he started with hiring Mike Woodson as his lead assistant.
On the front office side, Scott Perry hires BJ Armstrong as his Assistant General Manger. They also conducted workouts with a group of prospects and Owen gives his thoughts on them.
They then go through the latest happenings in what has been an insane playoffs, with Indiana coming back against Cleveland, Knicks coming back against Boston, Nuggets stealing a game and the Warriors stealing a game.
And then they end with their predictions for Backlash 2025.

Doug had his press conference to make his promotion to head coach official. Not much new information was shared and we are still waiting on moves from the front office to get a gauge on how they will operate.
Owen and Fong then go through the latest happenings in the playoffs, such as the Knicks closing out the Pistons in epic fashion. And the Wolves impressively close out the Lakers by absolutely dominating them with their size and physicality.

Doug Christie finally has the interim coach tag off and is now the official head coach of the Sacramento Kings. With that out the way, GM Scott Perry will likely move onto the next phase of his plan which is hopefully addressing the roster.
In news that doesn't seem real, Shaq is now the General Manager of Sac State Basketball. He will serve as a mentor and recruiter and work alongside Mike Bibby to take the program to the next level.
This year's playoffs have been insane so far and it's only been the first round. Owen and Fong go through some of the crazy endings that have happened and whether or not the refs screwed up a few calls in crunchtime of these games.

Scott Perry had his introductory press conference and it's fair to say he won the press conference. He was confident, sharp and charismatic with his words and it felt like he had the media present in his palm.
Winning the press conference is one thing, it will be actions and moves that he makes as the General Manager that will determine if he's right for the job. So to get an idea, Owen and Fong go through some of his moves as General Manager of the Knicks.
Then Owen goes off on a rant about Warriors fans whining about the physicality in the Rockets-Warriors series after the injury to Jimmy Butler.
And they end with what they thought of The Rock appearance on McAfee to explain his absence at Wrestlemania.

Well, Wrestlemania 41 happened and if anything it was eventful. Reviews were mixed but a lot came out of it that's for sure. Owen and Fong go through each match and give their opinion on the event and whether or not they agree with the majority of critics.

Well, that was quick. In less than an hour after the Kings were schlacked by the Mavs in the West 9/10 Play-In game, it was announced that Kings and GM Monte McNair would mutual part ways.
This happened while players were still in the locker room getting interviews which created a lot of awkwardness and chaos.
And then to add to the chaos, Kings hire Scott Perry as GM less than 12 hours later.

Kings get eliminated from post-season contention by the Mavs on their home floor. Kings were simply too small for the much bigger and physical Mavs team and they get sent into the offseason in embarrassing fashion at home.
Lots of decisions will be up in the air and changes will come this offseason. Buckle up.

The Kings beat the Suns on the final day of the season in what was a formality. The Kings now clinch the 9th spot in the Western Conference meaning that they will host home court in the 9/10 Play-In game on Wednesday against the Mavericks.

Well, the Kings fought hard, but it still wasn't enough. Kings for the 4th time this season lose to the Clippers and while the result is very much demoralizing, the Kings showed plenty of fight but that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
Add to that some of the late game execution issues the Kings have had so often this season, it just wasn't their night.
The Kings will face the Suns Sunday to determine whether they will be hosting the Play-In game or getting on a plane to head to Dallas instead.

The Kings were simply outmatched, they're just too small for the Nuggets. Add to that Kings fans were introduced to Jalen Pickett, it just wasn't the Kings night.
While the Kings had a fair share of injuries, the Kings simply don't match up well against the Nuggets size, particularly in the frontcourt. They could not stop the Nuggets inside and they just got easy bucket after easy bucket. They end the King's 3 game winning streak with 2 games left to go.
Owen and Fong also discuss the Michael Malone firing and the Luka return to Dallas.

This team is impossible to figure out, they lose to a tanking Wizards team, then turn around and win 3 straight, with the last 2 wins coming on 2 back to back games on the road against the 1 seed Cavaliers and a version good Pistons team.
The Kings were not favored in either game yet found a way to win through grit and toughness, something that has been lacking for much of the season.
The Kings end their road trip 3-3 and will now finish the season with 3 more games at home. They will look to stay in the Play-In and hopefully be the host of the 9-10 game on the 16th.

That's how you handle a bad team. The Kings beat the Hornets by 23 and that's how the Washington game should've gone. What could've been.
The Kings were simply the more skilled and physical team against a tanking Hornets team with half their roster injured and they simply took care of business.
They now head to Cleveland and Detroit on a back to back starting Sunday and let's see if they can rally together for a victory in the 2 games or maybe even 2?

It's actually impressive. The Kings not only lost to the Wizards but to their 2nd and 3rd unit guys as most of the main rotation was on the sideline. And the Kings still somehow lost playing their actual rotation.
This means that the Wizards tried to lose and the Kings still couldn't beat them! What a world.
Well, how did the Kings lose, they couldn't make shots and were horrid on defense. That's all you need to know.
We didn't think it couldn't get this bad, but here we are.
(I said this was episode 513 in the opening, it is actually supposed to be 514, this is what happens when you're digesting that the Kings lost to the Wizards backup squad)

Well, at least this game gave fans hope I guess. The Kings had the lead for much of the game by playing the beautiful game, moving the ball, playing with pace and getting great shots out of it.
And then the 4th quarter happened, Kings went to Demar DeRozan isos a lot where he did his thing while the other 4 guys just watched. While it a terrible strategy, it took them away from their beautiful game.
Meanwhile the Pacers kept playing their game and kept getting great shots, and despite missing shots for much of the 4th, they made some clutch buckets to win the game.
Another deflating loss where the Kings had hope but also another reminder that this team just is what it is, a middling team fighting for the final spot in the Play-in.

The Kings start their East Coast road trip on a bad note as they get pummeled by the Magic.
Their offense was all out of sorts and they had no prayer to guard the much bigger Orlando lineups on the other end.
It's a trend that is becoming all too often for the Kings and hopefully they pick it back up when they face the Pacers next on Monday.

Well, that feels a lot better now. Kings get a win to break their 4 game losing streak, and it was a decisive one, blowing out the Blazers by 21 and leading big for much of the game.
The Kings came out ready to play on both ends of the floor and maintained it throughout the game. It's a refreshing sight after 4 games where the Kings looked lost and hopeless for much of those losses.
The Kings now embark on a long East Coast road trip where their postseason fate will most likely be decided.

The Kings drop their back to back games against the Thunder and Celtics, letting their losing streak grow to 4.
In both games they were handily defeated and showed that they are not on the level of championship teams like the Celtics and Thunder.
Kings also now go from firmly in the 9th spot to being in danger of dropping out of the Play-In entirely.
It's going to be a tough final 10 games, they'll have to earn their spot to stay in the race.
