  • “One and one-half wandering Jews returned to their natural coasts,” Paul Simon wrote in 1983. “To resume old acquaintances and step out occasionally…and speculate who had been damaged the most.”

Here Paul Simon was undeniably singing about Carrie Fisher in his song, “Hearts and Bones.” The ex-Simon and Garfunkler had been on-and-off with Carrie Fisher, best known for her role as Princess Leia in Star Wars (but we love her most for When Harry Met Sally). In fact, Carrie and Paul broke up and got back together repeatedly for twelve years!

How many times is too many times to break up and get back together? That’s one question we ponder in the love story of Carrie Fisher and Paul Simon.

  • They were called “the couple of the century.” They made eleven films together. The term “paparazzi” was even coined for them! It’s the one and only Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

The world could not get enough of “Liz & Dick” throughout the ‘60s and ‘70s. Their tumultuous relationship that spanned thirteen years and two marriages—and lots of jewels and booze. A few weeks ago, we discussed Elizabeth’s infamous love triangle with Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. Today we complete the trilogy with the great love of Elizabeth’s life (and her fifth husband), Richard Burton.

  • In today's episode, we’re making our hair big and puffy to head back to the 1980s, where we meet a young Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr. Long before they became household names, these three-named celebrities met as aspiring actors and dated for nearly a decade. While "Sex & The City" explores dating in your 30s, this episode touches on the lessons we learn in our 20s, from supporting a struggling partner to knowing when to let go.

  • Mel has been rewatching Season 1 of The Crown and felt inspired to cover Prince Edward VIII’s controversial relationship with American socialite Wallis Simpson. History remembers the short-lived king abdicating the throne of England after his family and Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin disapproved of him marrying the 2x divorcee. On the surface, their story appeared incredibly romantic—sacrificing everything for a forbidden love—but was that the whole truth?

In this episode, we discuss the realistic consequences of giving it all up to be with the one you love. We also take a closer look at Edward and Wallis’ moral compasses, questionable decisions and disgraceful politics.

  • In our last episode, singer Eddie Fisher left his wife, actress Debbie Reynolds, for her friend Elizabeth Taylor, the movie starlet with ‘violet’ eyes. Eddie and Elizabeth had bonded over losing Mike Todd, Eddie’s best friend and Elizabeth’s husband, and fell into a whirlwind love affair.

Now it’s 1959, and Eddie and Elizabeth are married. Was it worth all the drama? Today, many people know that Elizabeth Taylor famously had seven husbands—and, unbeknownst to Eddie at the time, he was only husband #4. Here’s the Eddie chapter in Elizabeth’s long and fascinating love life.

  • Fifty years before the Brad-Jen-Angelina love triangle, there was Eddie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds, and Elizabeth Taylor. In the early 1950s, crooner Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds were officially known as “America’s Sweethearts.” They were also best friends with actress Elizabeth Taylor and her husband Mike Todd, and were even in each other’s weddings.

After Mike Todd tragically died in a plane crash, Eddie went to comfort his best friend’s wife (and wife’s best friend) Elizabeth Taylor. He ended up spending the night—and starting an affair that scandalized the nation.

Did Elizabeth feel any remorse for ‘stealing’ her friend’s husband? “I don’t go about breaking up marriages. You can’t break up a happy marriage,” she said. “Debbie’s and Eddie’s never has been.” Join us as we read through the “lore” and history of this infamous love triangle that rocked the end of the 1950s.

  • Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s 24-year age gap defies all societal and gender norms. They met and fell in love when Sam—a 42-year-old, newly divorced mother of two—made her directorial debut with the film “Nowhere Boy,” starring an up-and-coming, 18-year-old Aaron. Within a year, they were engaged and expecting, and 15 years later, still seem genuinely happy against all odds and expectations.

Is age really just a number? This controversial couple defies all the social constructs we’re comfortable with. With Aaron being only a few years older than his adopted “daughter,” we can’t help but bring up the Cullens and our weird, complicated Sims families.

  • It was 2004, and our hometown hero, Ben Affleck, and America’s sweetheart, Jennifer Garner, were a Fever Pitch love story when they debuted their relationship at the Red Sox World Series. Fresh off breakups, these two lovebirds moved fast, getting pregnant and married within a year.

Over the next decade, their domestic life was on display daily in tabloids as they raised their three kids together, battling paparazzi and stalkers. We look back at their adorable chemistry up through Ben’s questionable moments—referring to their marriage as “work” in his Oscar acceptance speech, allegedly cheating with the nanny, and his infamous Howard Stern interview comments about how his marriage affected his addiction struggles.

As we compare this relationship with the original “Bennifer,” we can’t help but wonder if the good girl/bad boy trope can ever truly work out in real life.

  • We’re getting in our time machine and heading back to the Wild West this week to visit Annie Oakley! And if you’re like us, maybe you’ve heard her name before but never really knew who Annie Oakley was. Well, Annie was a world-famous “sharpshooter” known for never missing a target with her rifle. Think Katniss Everdeen, old west style.

Annie Oakley performed across the U.S. and Europe with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show where she soon became a household name. But beyond shooting things with her rifle, she also had a super sweet romance (and meet-cute) with the Irish man Frank Butler.

  • Giddy up and mosey on down to the 2005 CMT Awards, where a hitched Blake Shelton and engaged Miranda Lambert set country fans abuzz with their undeniable chemistry. Their affair turned into a beloved country music couple, reminiscent of the iconic likes of Johnny & June and Faith & Tim. On their Oklahoma farm with seven dogs, Miranda and Blake dreamed of drinking, hunting, and singing together ‘til they kicked the bucket.

But alas, their marriage seemed to head South after Blake headed West for “The Voice.” After years of Miranda declaring that divorce was not an option, the couple sadly called it quits in 2015. The tabloids blamed adultery, jealousy and trust issues that arose once Blake began kicking it with folks in LA (including you, Adam Levine). We're delving into those rumors, dissecting song lyrics, and more.

  • Today, we know Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach as the powerhouse writer-director couple that brought us movies like ‘Frances Ha,’ ‘Lady Bird,’ ‘Marriage Story,’ ‘Little Women (2019)’, and yes, ‘Barbie.’

But when this duo first met, Greta was a little-known actress from the mumblecore indie film scene. Fourteen years her senior, Noah was married to actress Jennifer Jason Lee. Greta landed a role in Noah’s film “Greenberg,” which he had co-written with his wife. So it raised some eyebrows when, a year or so later, Noah Baumbach’s marriage dissolved and he started dating this intelligent young artist, Greta Gerwig.

Join us as we explore Noah and Greta’s real-life marriage story from then til now…featuring some unpopular opinions about certain movies (don’t hurt us!!).

So begins the infamous love letter written by Alex Turner to Alexa Chung in 2008. Somehow this letter made its way online (Tumblr) and into the hearts of teenage girls forever (Kelly included). The letter has become a symbol of their love story ever since, but where did it come from? Why was it on Tumblr? Was it even real??

This week we’re revisiting the swoon-worthy romance between Alex Turner, lead singer and lyricist of Arctic Monkey and The Last Shadow Puppets, and Alexa Chung, the model/TV presenter/fashion designer/it girl. They were both English, stylish, and incredibly of their time. And nearly had the same name! Join us as we examine the lyrics, writings, photographs, and mementos of Alex & Alexa.

  • We’ve covered couples whose careers threatened their relationships. Today, we’re flipping the script and looking at a couple whose relationship compromised their careers.

GMA co-hosts and self-proclaimed “best friends,” Amy Robach and TJ Holmes frequently double dated with their respective spouses as gossip spread at ABC studios about their chemistry. Then in December 2022, the Daily Mail released dozens of damning PDA-fueled paparazzi shots, seemingly exposing a newsworthy affair. The two were terminated from their jobs and now, after a year of exploring their romance off-air, are telling their story on their new podcast, “Amy & TJ.”

In this episode, we look beyond the headlines and compare the press’ salacious narrative to Amy and TJ’s intimate confessions. We also zoom out and contemplate if extramarital affairs in the workplace warrant firing and discuss the weird phenomenon of having a “work wife” or “work husband.”

In this episode, we imagine what it’d be like to begin a marriage with someone you’ve never experienced day-to-day, normal life with as we worry about how this love story might unfold.
