Neil Percy is the Principal Percussionist of the LSO and Head of Percussion at The Royal Academy of Music so he has plenty of tales to tell about everything related to percussion. It was wonderful to finally have the chance to have a good chat and gossip with him which I have to confess ran way over time so we had to cut this episode down a bit because we could have talked all day so Let's get Listening!

I'm not an Olympic Gold medallist like my guest today, Sally Gunnell, but we do have one thing in common - we both grew up on a farm. We chatted about the sense of responsibility this gave us and motivation to get up every day and keep trying to succeed along our different paths. It was a true honour to talk to someone so successful yet so grounded about when to step up and when to step back. Let's get listening!

My guest today, Sound of Metal actor, Riz Ahmed shares his extraordinary experience of learning American Sign Language, becoming a drummer and putting his body through rigorous work-outs all in the space of a few months. To absorb himself in the role of 'Ruben', Riz tells me how engaging with the deaf community truly taught him how to listen. It feels entirely appropriate therefore to say 'Let's get Listening!'

Carol Jarvis is an exceptional musician who has been on an incredible journey - touring with Seal whilst battling cancer and flying back to the UK for blood transfusions between gigs! She has performed with a wealth of great artists and has so many stories to tell but the one that inspires me the most is how she remained resilient and determined whilst being told she only had weeks to live. Thankfully, she is now strong and well and inspiring young musicians up and down the country to be resourceful and positive! I hope you enjoy this really special episode!

East Anglia's Children's Hospice does such amazing work for children and their families and here I brought together Phil Gormley, CEO, Ray Travasso, music therapist and the Thomas family who have benefitted from their care. A truly emotional episode that looked at the financial strains on the charity during Covid, the challenges of connecting with children from a music therapist's perspective and the isolation faced by families with severely ill children.

I met Edeline Lee, the successful fashion designer when I reluctantly agreed to be a catwalk model in one of her shows. Today's podcast was much less scary, although I did mark the occasion by wearing one of Edeline's beautiful tops! When I chatted to Edeline I got an insight into the feat of engineering that goes into making each piece of clothing and the importance she places on the person wearing the finished product. I am so inspired by how she listens to her customers and literally takes care over every hand stitch - I hope you will be inspired too so Let's get Listening!!
