Increasing numbers of Israeli soldiers are becoming disillusioned with fighting in Gaza and other areas of conflict in Lebanon and the West Bank, leading some to refuse to return to the battlefield. According to a report in Israeli outlet HaMakom, interviews with over 20 parents and fighters in a range of battalions have revealed increasing disatisfaction in the ranks.
Among the Nahal Brigade, soldiers spend five weeks fighting in Gaza before returning home to rest, something they have done 11 times so far since the beginning of fighting October 2023.

On September 13, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held a press conference in which he accused the Russian media outlet RT of covertly disseminating Kremlin-produced content and messaging via African Stream, a PanAfrican media platform distributed via its website, AfricanStream.media, and on social media platforms.
Shortly after Blinkenâs press conference YouTube suspended African Streamâs channel. Meta rapidly followed suit, suspending its accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. On September 24th, TikTok bowed to the pressure and suspended African Streamâs account as well.

Protesters in New York have demanded accountability after police fired at a suspected fare-evader in a busy subway station, hitting a bystander in the head. The man, Gregory Delpeche, remains in the hospital in critical condition and has undergone cranial surgery, according to US media. Police said two officers shot at the suspected fare-evader on Sunday after he refused to comply with orders, muttered threats and drew a knife. A second bystander, another officer and the suspect also were injured.

At least fourteen people have been killed and another estimated 450 people injured after radio communications devices owned by Hezbollah members exploded in Beirut on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said. The new wave of detonations follows a series of similar, simultaneous explosions on Tuesday in Lebanon and Syria, which reportedly killed at least 12 people, including two children, and wounded nearly 3,000.
Reports say that the second day of the attack included devices like handheld, walkie-talkie portable radios and solar equipment, rather than pagersâthe devices involved in the previous wave of explosions.
