  • Most of us were not taught how to be in our bodies. To express what we were feeling from the inside out. Or see our sensations as a guide towards greater wisdom, insight and intuition. No, we were most likely encouraged to leave our bodies. See them as the enemy, and not to trust them. And so we remain disconnected from them, missing out on living fully embodied. We might find it hard to feel anything, let alone express what we are experiencing.

But learning how to identify and verbalize this nebulous world of our internal senses has so many benefits. It helps us respond rather than react to triggers, fears, and stress. It helps us learn how to regulate our nervous systems when we start going into survival mode. It helps us experience the present moment even deeper. And even helps us make aligned decisions.

Join Mary for this foundational episode as she walks you through discovering a whole vocabulary for expressing your internal felt senses. And make sure to listen to the end when she guides you through a somatic mindfulness practice to help you get in touch with the sensations you’re feeling.

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - Integrating the body and the mind

    - How to increase somatic awareness

    - Learning the language of sensations

    - The difference between external and internal felt senses

    - 5 categories of somatic vocabulary

    - How our reactions are reactions to the sensations in our body

    - A guided somatic mindfulness practice with Mary

  • Ever feel like you are rushing to get to the finish line? How often are you fantasizing about your happiness being somewhere in the future? How frequently do you wake up thinking you should be further along than you are? Or maybe you believe that feeling secure, whole, or at peace is dependent on things externally changing. If any of this rings true you might be suffering from what one of my mentors, Robert Holden calls “Destination Addiction.”

In this episode, I explore what it’s like when you live your life believing that your happiness is somewhere outside of yourself. And when we wake up from the trance of hustling to “arrive” and recognize that what we want most in life is available to us right now - something magical happens. We start actually living. Tune in to this week’s episode for an opportunity to experience more presence, wholeness and peace RIGHT NOW.

  • Have you banished parts of yourself? Most of us have parts of ourselves that we believe are unworthy, shameful, unlovable, and just not okay. We all have parts of ourselves that we reject and ultimately exile. When you believe parts of yourself are a threat to your worthiness you will do everything in your power to push that part of yourself aside and deny the truth of who you really are. But the truth is that you can never cut off the parts of who you are. It takes so much effort and energy to exist as only part of who you are. In order to show up as our most authentic self, you have to embrace the parts of yourself that you work so hard to suppress. What parts of you have you kept hidden? What parts of you are you not bringing to the table? This episode is an invitation to get radically honest with yourself about the parts of you that you have been denying and see integration as the ultimate freedom.

  • Happy New Year! The “New Year, New You” energy is in the air! And with it comes a lot of pressure to hurry up and get moving. But we don’t have to buy into the New Year hype. There is a different way to ease into a fresh year that feels more connected to the natural world. What if we started the year in sync with the cycles of the moon? What if we could honor the season of winter that we are in? What if this time could be about slowing down, reflection, and rest?

In this episode, Mary explores what it’s like to set your intentions from a place of LOVE rather than SHAME. When we move from love, the pressure melts away and we tap back into our own rhythm. We let go of time scarcity and remember to trust the process. We stop trying to keep up with what everyone around us is doing. And we start aligning our year with what lights us up instead of trying to fix our flaws. If you need a permission slip to start the year off a little softer, this episode is for you!

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - How the New Year is BIG BUSINESS

    - The 4 beliefs that motivate New Year’s marketing

    - Why our calendar is out of sync with nature

    - The power of starting with LOVE

  • One of my favorite embodiment tools I use with my coaching clients and teach in all my retreats and workshops is something called the “Body Compass.” This is a “somatic” tool, meaning its wisdom is found in the body, not the mind. And just like an actual compass, your body’s compass is intended to keep you on track and pointed towards your true North. Your true North is when you are living YOUR path. When you are in alignment with your truest self. So how do you know if you're pointed in the right direction? It starts with learning your body’s true YES and true NO. And it’s all guided by your internal felt senses. You can only discover this when you connect to the language of your body. Once you learn how to read your compass, you can begin practicing using it. The more you practice, and the more proficient you are with it, the easier it is to make decisions quickly, set healthy boundaries and stay in alignment. On this episode, I’ll walk you through how to set your body compass and hopefully convince you what an amazing tool you have at your disposal!

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - Why we often end up in analysis paralysis

    - Using the body’s internal felt sensations as a guide

    - Recognizing when you're headed away from your true north

    - How to find a “Full Body YES”

    - Moving at the speed of your intuition

    - Discovering your yellow, orange and red zones

  • The holiday season is officially here! For many people the holiday season has looked different the last few years. There is a deep longing to return to our normal traditions and normal patterns during this time of the year. While social media might have you fooled, most of us do NOT experience a perfect holiday. Many of us experience family conflict, financial stress, religious pressure, an overwhelming feeling of not doing enough
during this time of the year. We often even have a holiday blueprint that we aren’t even aware of. What if you created a new blueprint? A new vision for what the holiday season could look like! • Just like in nature, our lives go through different seasons. Think about Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter and consider how your own life might mimic the changes we feel as the seasons shift. If we truly want to live in alignment, we have to factor in the season of life we are in, and learn to respect all seasons equally. Winter is just as important as Summer. When we honor the season we are in, we can make decisions that are in alignment with where we are both on the micro and macro level. But let’s take it a level deeper. Did you know that as women, we go through 4 seasons in the course of our 29 day hormonal cycle? What if we designed our lives and businesses around the energy available to us in each phase of the month? What if we gave ourselves permission to let our bodies lead? What if we allowed the natural ebb and flow to help us create a sustainable way of living? Tune in to this week’s episode as Mary explores the ins and outs of aligned seasonal living.

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - Seasonal living both on a macro and micro level

    - Respecting our natural energy cycles

    - Using nature as a metaphor for living a balanced life

    - The difference in men’s and women's hormonal cycles

  • What does “success” mean to you? Most of us have a blueprint given to us from our family of origin or society about what success means. Very rarely is our idea of success defined by what we actually want in our life. This leaves us feeling exhausted, heavy, fearful, stressed
the list goes on. Success should feel good. The getting there and the accomplishment. In order to begin to redefine success, we first have to get to the roots of where our current definition of success comes from. Once we discover our original blueprint we can ask ourselves the question “Is this working for me?”. We don’t have to sacrifice things like joy, family, alone time, friends, or mental health for success. We can create a life that is successful with all of those things included. That is the real definition of success. If you feel a victim to the life you have created you are likely not living a life based on YOUR definition of success and this episode is for you!

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

-Where our definition of success comes from

-How fathers and mothers impact our ideas of success differently

-Questions to ask yourself to discover how you define success

-How we operate out of someone else's conditions for success

-Expanding success beyond numbers and metrics

  • Join me and my friend Dr. Rob Murray on this episode as we talk about ghosting. Have you ever been ghosted? Or maybe you are a ghoster? It has become common in our culture to manage our fear and anxiety of letting people down by just vanishing. When we do this we often leave people in a place of having to finish the story on their own. Our brains desperately want closure and often the way we fill in the blanks of that story is rooted in our old stories of rejection and shame about who we are. Being IN relationship means someone else is impacted by our behavior. Situations of ghosting are usually rooted in people pleasing, indirect boundaries, and fear of letting people down and both parties suffer. When we are focused on ourselves or our own shame we miss the opportunity to give the other person closure and potentially a deeper conversation to create healing and possibly resolution or a solution. Join us on this episode as we talk about how many of the ways we attempt to stay safe in relationships are strategies that don’t give us what we really want.

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - What is “ghosting”

    - Reasons we abruptly leave hard conversations

    - Why we need to increase our capacity to sit in discomfort

    - Common strategies we use to diffuse anxiety in relationships

    - The difference between healthy and unhealthy conflict

  • No one ever tells you that this process is going to be hard. Creating a new life is going to cost you your old one. That dismantling can be painful. But there is hope in the process. However, we can’t overlook the becoming. The pain, the crying, the sadness, the darkness
It is all part of the process. You have likely built your whole life to avoid experiencing pain. As you raise your awareness and you start to feel your feelings it is going to be raw and painful. All the old stuff is going to rise to the surface. Breaking deep generational cycles is no small thing and getting through this requires that we do things that feel counterintuitive. In this episode, I’ll share ways to help you introduce more tenderness into the mix, and remind you that you can do hard things!

  • It’s human to want to avoid pain. We often find ways to avoid loneliness, sadness, anger, grief, heartbreak
because these emotions leave us exposed and vulnerable. But just like joy, happiness, pleasure, wonder
They are a part of life. It’s all part of the human experience. However, we can get better at being with the pain. Being conscious and fully alive requires us to become proficient in feeling our emotions. Most of us didn’t grow up in spaces where we were given the skills to process our emotions, so we bypass or rush through the process. When we do that our physical body suffers the consequences. Things like disease, chronic pain, autoimmune disease, anxiety, and depression are just a few examples of signs that we have buried emotions that need to be processed. But the good news is, we can learn HOW to do that work, and in this episode I will walk you through that process step by step.

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

  • The journey of self development usually starts with mindset work. We first learn how to shift our thinking and create more empowering beliefs. But that’s just the 1st layer. There is a deeper layer that involves connecting to the body. Our body has its own language and holds information, feedback, and wisdom that when understood, can be a game changer to how we live our lives. While our mind holds 20% of the information we need in order to create desired change, the body holds the other 80%. This is why it is so important to approach this holistically and not overlook the wisdom our bodies hold. But the language of the body is not verbal. It communicates through our senses. It is that quiet inner knowing. The subtle whispers. The sensations. The feelings. The vibrations
In this episode, Mary shares what would happen in our lives if we were to become fluent in our body’s language. And spoiler alert - it opens us up to a whole new dimension of life!

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - What the language of the body is

    - How our bodies are the tool to reach greater alignment

    - Why mindset work is just the beginning

    - The process of dialoguing with the body

    - The 5 reasons it is important to learn the language of our body

  • It feels so good to be back with you after spending the past several months recalibrating and processing the last couple of years.

And last week in a coaching session, my client had a major breakthrough around identifying the root of her trigger and I knew it was the topic to kick off Season 4. See we all get emotionally triggered from time to time, and it can set off a big unexpected and “irrational” reaction inside ourselves. So what do we do?

In this short episode, I explore what is really at play when we get triggered. Hint: it’s not about what we think it’s about. So what is the real root? And how can we come back to a sense of what’s true? I believe triggers are our teachers. They help us discover what fear or wound might need some attention, loving and healing.

  • Join Mary and her best friend Lindsley Brooks as they dig in deeper to talk about spiritual bypassing. When we experience emotions that feel “too big” or “too painful” we tend to find all kinds of covert ways to avoid “the work”. Many positive things that we incorporate into our lives with good intention can end up being used to help us cope and bring us comfort when life throws hard things at us. Prayer, meditation, astrology, spirituality, and religion are all things we might find ourselves turning to in order to bypass our emotions, pain, and struggles. The intention is good, but these “tools” can often keep us in a place where we avoid or ignore the feelings pointing us to places where we need healing. Part of being human is feeling a full range of emotions, experiencing highs and lows, and having a biological response to whatever is happening in our lives. When we choose to bypass our emotions, we self abandon and break trust with ourselves. When we choose to sit with our emotions and truly heal we create the opportunity to live fully alive!

ON THIS EPISODE WE WILL DISCUSS

    - What “spiritual bypassing” is

    - How we use positive things to bury our pain

    - How spiritual bypassing can feel like the enlightened choice

    - Creating space to accept our full range of emotions

We all learned in our childhoods emotional survival techniques. We learned how to be seen, get love, and gain approval. How do we learn to be in a healthy relationship with another person? When we find ourselves stuck in these patterns it is time to face the hard work of undoing the foundation of our patterning. Listen as Mary and Lindsley candidly talk about how when we notice the roles we played as children showing up in our adult relationships, it is really an invitation to do the work to usher in deeper healing.

  • Join Mary as she offers the second of several guided meditations in Season 3. As you tune in to the regular episodes and learn more about your emotions and feelings, it’s important to slow down to integrate what you are learning. Mary is a certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, meditation and breathwork teacher, and brings over a decade of experience in this area.

In this guided meditation, she will guide you through creating a safe and loving space and learn how to feel some of the more difficult emotions like sadness, loneliness, anger, anxiety, fear...etc. This gentle approach of allowing and nurturing will open the door for deep healing.

    No meditation experience needed.

    TO PREPARE:

    - If possible, find a quiet and comfortable place.

    - Sit comfortably upright.

    - If you want, put on your favorite meditation music in the background.

    - Simply follow Mary’s guided meditation.

    - Relax, take the pressure off and enjoy!
