In a hard-fought contest, Bologna struck the woodwork twice in the first half, but Salah made certain of the outcome when he rasped a curling finish into the top corner in the final quarter and made certain a 100 per cent start to the new-look format.

Liverpool advanced to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 5-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The holders had to recover from a Jarell Quansah own goal to ensure their defence moved past the first obstacle but ultimately did so dominantly, with Diogo Jota swiftly equalising.
Jota put the Reds ahead on the night four minutes into the second half, Mohamed Salah later rose from the bench to make it three, and Cody Gakpo glossed the score further with a double in the closing moments.
