For us “worriers”, a lot of energy can be directed toward navigating our anxious inner dialogues and attempting to protect ourselves from the uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety. Cultivating a more peaceful inner landscape is not a luxury, it’s essential so that life can expand beyond worry.
This week, Lisa shares that constructive rest, self-compassion and purpose can amplify our energy while making ourselves wrong for our feelings can further deplete it.

Lisa has been treating herself as she would a yoga therapy client by prescribing herself some tools to support bouts of lower mood and exhaustion related to big life transitions. Time in nature is a simple, but meaningful way to support the body’s need for movement which in turn uplifts the mind and inspires us to remember to honour the cycles of life. This episode offers some easy ways to relate with nature therapeutically without needing hiking boots.

The podcast is back, with a new look and a new name. As a health care worker and yoga studio owner, Aimee isn’t able to continue to co-host the show on a regular basis, but she’ll be back as a frequent guest! From an Ayurvedic perspective, the beginning of summer signals the start of “pitta” season, a time of year related to the element of fire. For those of us with already “fiery” natures, this is an opportunity to be mindful of the effects of increased heat in our bodies and minds. You might be surprised at what can flare up right now, including addictive tendencies, especially with the collective upheaval and transformation so many of us are experiencing. Listen in on this conversation that is intended to remind us we are more connected than we are separate and each of us is battling our own fire within.Go deeper into the tools that can help to harmonize you with the summer season in our signature series “A Radiant Summer”

While Aimee is called to use her skills as a registered nurse in Columbus, Ohio, Lisa hosts solo and offers a practice she hopes will be helpful.
There’s a lot of information out there about the benefits of meditation. If you haven’t had a regular practice, it’s a hard time to start something new. Even for experienced meditators, it’s a challenge to sit quietly for an extended amount of time right now.
So we hope you enjoy this version of the guided practice of yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) with the intention of cultivating an inner resource of peace and safety. This method might feel more easeful because you will be invited to lie down while your mind is guided to focal points around the body and visualizations intended to relax the body completely, while the mind stays awake. This kind of rest is called “productive rest” because you enter a state of healing akin to deep sleep.
Yoga Nidra has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, emotional reactivity and chronic pain while supporting focus and sleep.
You will need about 25 minutes of free, quiet time for this practice. Please practice anytime you need a break, a rejuvenation or some emotional support.

As a registered nurse for the last 25 years, host Aimee Pruitt is on the front lines of our current health crisis in her home state of Ohio. She’s feeling strongly about the actions that we are taking as a global community right now and tells us why it’s time to stay the f@!k home.
Lisa and Aimee share what it’s been like in their cities and how they’ve been processing all that has been canceled and lost and how they’ve been dealing with these unprecedented times. They talk about the importance of feeling the feelings and being there for each other even while it’s prudent to physically be apart.
