  • A fitting end to the show. I created this little skit about 3 years ago and it is uncanny how much it still resonates and expresses my views on cryptozoology, and by extension most of "paranormal investigation" as a whole. Thanks to all the listeners who stuck around despite always hearing me say stuff they do not want to hear, but probably should. Thanks to all the guests who helped us better understand the complex linguistic, cultural, social and personal nuances of these odd interests and experiences.Outro sampled from Sequence (Mystery and Terror) 3 by Francisco Sánchez (@fanchisanchez) at pixabay.comFollow, Like, Support Francisco via his facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/Francisco-S%C3%A1nchez-205622936184228....or his Jamendo page: https://www.jamendo.com/artist/370168/francisco-sanchezCheck out more of Francisco's music BELOW!!!Mystery and imagination stories - https://www.jamendo.com/album/195217/mystery-and-imagination-storiesMystery and terror sequences (on FREE SOUND LAB) - https://www.jamendo.com/album/195595/mystery-and-terror-sequences

  • Puuttuva jakso?

    Paina tästä ja päivitä feedi.

  • Might river monster legends be projected ancestral memories of freakin' hippos, passed onto us from our earliest roots in Africa?

Discussed are the Kelpie, Dobhar-chu, Ahuizotl, and their possible achetypal ties to the #1 deadliest animal in Africa!

  • Do cryptids and ghosts serve as personified reminders of obscure historical events? And are we using them as middle men who allow us to gracefully disassociate ourselves from the errors of our past?

Discussed is the idea that cryptids and ghosts may serve as bookmarks which help us rediscover our own history, with special emphasis on the Hull Werewolf and the Sliderock Bolter.

  • As July is nearing an end, we attempt to milk the Roswell cow dry of its spoiled trendiness, plucking at the nerves of old-school UFO fanboys like a marionette! Was Roswell a myth perpetuated by our own puppet masters, and if so, why have they abandoned their baby? Exchanged spooks for kooks, and saucers for tic-tacs? It's not just a mint... it's a sugar daddy!

  • Barbara opens a never-ending can of worms as we tackle animism, Gaia, light phenomena, consciousness and death!

As the host of 6 Degrees of John Keel, Barbara talks with various experiencers and researchers of high strangeness. She is also a bookworm who memorizes every book she reads!

Thanks to this vast knowledge, and her own personal experiences, Barbara has been developing a theory proposing that the origin of The Other lies within its purest form: anomalous lights.

She puts her Keelian cap on to talk about ultraterrestrials and light beings, while I put my Gaianist cap on to discuss whether our consciousness is connected to the Earth, and the role of microbes in forming our psyches!

  • AP Strange returns to carefully tap-dance around the miraculous yet ethically questionable history of sideshows!

Our idea was to discuss the 1932 Todd Browning movie "Freaks", emphasizing the amazing careers and inspirational life stories of its diverse cast, who came in all shapes and sizes.

But as is the case when discussing the old timey sideshow circuit and its performers, we quickly ended up having to navigate through a minefield of controversy, exploitation, moral dilemmas, and a giant mirror reflecting back at ourselves!

Nevertheless, we kept ourselves in the safety of the spotlight, sharing insight into the lives of these exceptional individuals, who overcame tremendous physical and societal challenges to master skills and talents which convey the magic and power of human will.

  • A peek into an open and honest conversation between 2 friends about fear, change and personal growth!

Trina co-hosts the podcast Spooks, Creeps and Assorted Devilry, a role she found very difficult adapting to but which ultimately transformed her into a more positive and sincere individual.

Today we sat down not as podcast hosts, but as two regular, honest and vulnerable people, discussing the role of fear in shaping our decisions and beliefs, the masks we wear in order to avoid confrontations, the magickal power of intent, Tarot reading for personal guidance, as well as the role of kindness and hospitality in diffusing antagonism from other people, but also entities as well!

P.S.: Yes, there is no intro. This is not an episode, rather it is personal conversation between people. By some strange circumstances it made its way on the feed so y'all may listen in!

  • Cole and I lose our heads sharing creepy stories of ghost animals missing their heads! (or even other body parts)

TRIGGER WARNING: Ghost animals are most often dead animals. If they're missing their heads, they obviously died a gruesome death! Though no animals were harmed during the making of this episode, we will be dancing around suggestions of animal cruelty or mutilation.

Discussed are spooky tales of a ghost cow with a detached floating head, a frozen ghost chicken in London, haunted slaughterhouses, headless phantom dogs, a man who turned into a flaming turkey, mountain lion taxidermies coming to life, and even a cursed skeleton of a freakin' donkey!

As this episode was already dead on arrival, we also consistently deviate into movie tangents, random biology lectures, and cringy jokes which will make the listener's head fall off!

  • Mothboy Mike shares his spiritual pilgrimage through West Virginia, paying homage to a cast of colorful Fortean icons!

Co-hosting the Mothboys Podcast, and authoring a new children's book about the Vegetable Man, Mikey has been nurturing a recent interest in the writings and colorful life of Gray Barker.

Driven by an otherworldly compulsion, Mike has been making multiple pilgrimages to the Gray Barker archives in Clarksburg, WV, familiarizing himself with Gray's often overlooked case materials and personal correspondences... but the journey did not end there!

Along the way he has been making stops to the grave site of Jennings Frederick, paying his respects to the Vegetable Man witness.

  • Jason shares his vast knowledge of West Virginian history, helping me divinate their cryptids via tarot!

As a teacher, outdoorsman, West Virginian and host of The Esoteric Book Club, Jason is very knowledgeable on the history of his home state, and all the cultural eccentricities which make it a hotspot for high strangeness!

Today we spend almost 2 hours analyzing the symbology of the most popular West Virginian cryptids, breaking down their societal roles and cultural impact through the archetypes of the Major Arcana, even though neither of us are experts in tarot and we probably messed up every interpretation!

But no worries, as we often lose our train of thought and delve into discussion about ultraterrestrials, dinosaur poop, bootleg moonshine, and just why the Appalachians are rich in cultural identity and otherworldly phenomena!

  • Christina shares her childhood initiation into high strangeness, leading her down a path of UFO research and a Man in Black encounter!

Witnessing an image of the Flatwoods Monster in a tabloid at an early age initiated Christina into a world of the weird, where otherness is the norm and rules are non-existent. A later teenage psychedelic experience in the forest left a permanent impression that there is much more to nature, and reality itself, than what we can see with our naked eyes.

We discuss the effects of childhood trauma in predisposing us to the world of high strangeness, the role media and books play in nurturing and empowering our sense of otherness, the influence of psychedelics in shattering our sense of reality, and the abandonment of our childhood beliefs which paves the way to a more holistic understanding of The Other.

  • Theshira helps us navigate the world of South African river deities, serpentine cryptids and black magick!

As the host of Legendary Africa Podcast, and resident South African, Theshira researches folklore and legends from all across the African continent, stories which throughout the centuries have most often been lost to history or irreparably warped by colonial influence.

Today we present our collaborative research into the Mamlambo, a figure which has assumed many forms throughout the years: serpent goddess, witch's familiar, brain-sucking river monster, even wealthy and seductive white foreigners!

But with the advent of Western capitalism in South Africa, we are also bearing witness to a bizarre cultural transformation, where figures of traditional belief are molded and repurposed into embodiments of modern globalization and capitalistic greed!
