Elizabeth met Dan by chance while attending a wedding celebration at the Outsider Art Museum & Gallery

She was fascinated by the pieces on the wall, couple with his story of tracking between worlds. She found Dan through Instagram and in this most recent episode, Dan shares his story!

ā€œDan Rhema arrived at the hospital

    with his brain on fire.

The three strains of dengue fever that he contracted in Mexico had morphed into the deadly combination of meningoencephalitis ā€“ both his brain and his spinal fluid were infected. That evening, as the doctors fought to save his life, Dan left his body and began an unexpected journey to the other side.

One week later, he was released from the hospital, just not as the Dan Rhema who had entered. The near-death experience and the damage to his brain left him with gaping holes in his memory and a loss of his identity.

Dan spent much of the next three years asleep. Otherworldly visual images flowed out of his dreams. During his waking hours, a creative compulsion took over his life. He began to sculpt and paint the visions he encountered in the night.

Dan had two choices: to continue hoping that, one day, he would regain his lost memories and his old life, or to embrace the newfound creativity and follow it wherever it would lead. He chose to begin anew and follow the mystical healing journey of his dreams.ā€

Elizabeth & Kelli met when their kids were just wee little tots and walked a similar parenting path. Elizabeth and Kelli each have two children, a son and a daughter, as well as backgrounds in both traditional and Waldorf educational philosophies. And it as no coincidence they met as neighbors over 20 years ago. From skinned knees and bandaids, park play dates, through puberty, high school sports, Covid-mania, proms and then college, they share their journeys as mothers. They take a deep dive into the ups and downs of motherhood and the necessity and art of letting their children go!

It reminds me of a meme I once read

ā€œA mother's job is to teach her children not to need her anymore. The hardest part of that job is accepting success." ~ Anonymous

Growing up, I suffered from an asthmatic condition that impaired my entire life. After years of struggling, by 1984 I found myself in a place of a desperate need to heal. I was attending physical therapy school where I met a fellow student that introduced me to Barbara Brennan's new book at the time, "Hands of Light." The book had a great impact on me and I felt inspired to explore this path to healing. I began studying deep fascia work with all types of practitioners and expanded to other bodywork methods including visceral manipulation with the Barral Institute. After seeing the miracles brought by this line of work, I decided to begin practicing on myself in an attempt to heal my asthmatic condition that had progressively held me back my entire life. I began with a lot of fascia work combined with visceral release on my body. I instantly saw powerful improvements in my ability to let go and deep breathing. Having spent most of my life in the sympathetic response state, shifting to the parasympathetic state through this work brought instant healing and a place of "wellbeing." Seeing the possibilities and power of this transformation inspired me to share this knowledge as I was working in the field of Physical Therapy.I found myself in a Gestalt Psychotherapy study group for four years and studying Cranial Sacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute. I supported my bodywork with spiritual healing through visualization, affirmations and applying principles of "The Course in Miracles."I also began a journey of fasting, colonies, acupuncture and Chinese herbs. All of these efforts allowed me to significantly reduce the dosage of medication I had been on for 23 years. My work evolved to a deeper study of life coaching after joining lyanla Vanzant's two-year Spiritual Life Coaching Program and then eventually the certification program. I integrated life more with working with people with the powerful knowledge I have gained over the years. My years of studying the works, writings and workshops of people like Louise Hay, Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Shakti Gawain, lyanla Vanzant, and so many more; I learned one common denominator which was the body's innate healing system kicks in when compassion, persistence, forgiveness and self love are the intention to heal. I am dedicated to using my hands to release people's fascia while empowering them to live from a place of love so we can all have our power back and heal. I am now on a mission to spread my knowledge and show people how to release their stored emotions and negative energy to get on the path to self-love so they can live the happy and joyous life they deserve. ~ Maria Find Maria on Instagram @magicalhandsphysicaltherapy

Elizabeth, new to a low oxalate way of eating, and Monique dig into how oxalates may be impacting your vitality! If you are suffering with strange, mysterious symptoms, this lifestyle may be for you. Meet Monique AttingerMonique is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist and known as the Low Oxalate Coach. She discovered oxalate when their trusted ND diagnosed her youngest daughter with an oxalate problem. Their daughter had rashes that looked more like chemical burns; and they were motivated to solve this health riddle! However, she and her husband were not happy about another diet. (She must have been on dozens of them before she ever heard the word ā€œoxalateā€). She decided that if her daughter had to be on a special diet that she would go on it with her. That decision changed her life. All of a sudden, she could tell that she was feeling better! She had been dealing with a host of what seemed like unrelated problems: insomnia; low thyroid; digestive issues; constant constipation; low immunity; pain; swelling in my feet and ankles; extremely low energy; and mood issues including irritability and anxiousness. She didnā€™t just feel unwell. In fact, she remembered saying to her mother that she didnā€™t know how she could have so little energy and be alive. But then, as her diet changed, she started to feel better. She didnā€™t need all the digestive enzymes. Her sleep was improving. Her thyroid started working better. She wasn't sick all the time. Her energy increased! All these apparently separate health issues started to improve all at the same time. Could a low oxalate diet help you? She isn't not a doctor; she canā€™t diagnose. What she can say is that if you have any condition that is chronic or inflammatory, this way of eating may be a great support to any other therapies you are currently using. Reducing oxalate means you reduce a significant inflammatory substance in the body ā€“ and well, that canā€™t hurt!Find Monique on IG: @lowoxcoachWebsite: www.lowoxcoach.com

In this enticing episode Elizabeth and Emma break down the ā€œfood is medicineā€ concept. Just as you would put sand in your gas tank to get your car to run, choosing junk, non-foods will keep your body from running optimally. Coach Emma is helping people all over the world feel better using real, whole foods to heal the gut, improve mental health, reduce inflammation , relieve joint and muscle pain to name a few working the the GAPS lifestyle. G (Gut) A (and) P (Psychology) S (Syndrome)10 years ago Emma Goodwin was in an absolute mess. An angry, impatient, bad tempered Mum. She was not enjoying being a parent. By 4pm every day she was FINISHED. No energy, anxious and depressed.By some magical fluke of pure brilliant good luck, she chanced upon the GAPS book. She wept with relief as she turned the pages and recognised herself in that book. She could see her childrenā€™s night terrors, ADHD, and endless ear infections as sypmtoms of GUT problems. The book said how to fix everything using food as medicine. Dr Natasha made it sound so easy, but it was not. She was exhausted and had serious brain fog. She felt so weak and useless. She had no energy to cook. She could see the kids health getting worse. She got on with it and started with baby steps. She has created a fantastic GAPS "cooking school" to make help make the transition to healthier living seamless. Dr. Beth Terranova, PT was diagnosed with scoliosis just before starting high school. Despite my scoliosis, she started weightlifting and even became a national competitor. One coach even referred to her as "the hunchback" due to her rib prominence. While studying to become a physical therapist, she discovered the Schroth method for scoliosis, which finally made sense of her experiences. She tarted Strength and Spine in 2020 to help people with scoliosis and spinal fusion from all over the world work out in the gym, combining her knowledge of Schroth and strength training. Her clients were getting stronger and feeling empowered, just like she did when she learned about her own scoliosis. She became the coach she needed when she was growing up, and she sees her scoliosis as a gift that allows her to help and inspire others to feel strong and empowered in their own lives. She has awesome virtual and online content and courses that can be found online. Stacy Joyce had mild childhood scoliosis that progressed rapidly as a teenager. At 16 years old, she had a spinal fusion from T5-L3 with Harrington rods, and wore a brace for six months while healing. Two years after her surgeries, she tried her first yoga class in 1996, which she credits for uniting her back to her body. Stacy studied International Business and Spanish, and traveled abroad extensively during college. After graduation she was in the Peace Corps Honduras for two years. Upon returning to the States, she moved to New York City, and worked office jobs until that was not physically manageable anymore. Even while attending four yoga classes per week, she wasnā€™t able to counter the long hours of sitting, and decided to enroll in yoga teacher training. Stacy received her 500-hr certification from YogaWorks in 2012. During her 300-hr training, she met Deborah Wolk while attending her Scoliosis workshop, and Stacyā€™s trajectory for practicing and teaching yoga fundamentally changed. Until that point, she did not know how to practice in a way that took her scoliosis or spinal fusion into consideration. In 2020, Stacy completed Elise Millerā€™s Yoga for Scoliosis Teacher Trainer program. Stacy loves to share her knowledge, and believes that consistency in our practice comes from having a deep understanding of our WHY? Stacyā€™s yoga practice has brought her a strong sense of agency through the waves of life, and a community of fulfilling friendships. She welcomes lots of questions, as she is constantly asking them herself as a lifelong student. Stacy moved to North Carolina in 2023 with her husband and son.
