We're back!
Welcome to the highly anticipated first episode of Season 2 of Up and Away, the Australian Aviation Podcast!
This week I'm joined by Henry Ellis! Henry operates a seaplane company down at the waterfront in Hobart called Above & Beyond Tasmania, where he offers charters, joy flights, and day trips in his de Havilland Beaver. When Henry isn't flying the Beaver he is also a Boeing 737 pilot with Virgin Australia.
I was lucky enough to go visit Henry in Hobart over Christmas and go for a fly with him, which happened to be my first ever trip in a seaplane. It was unreal! We then recorded this episode a few months ago, when I was back in Melbourne, but I'm glad I finally have the chance to share it all with you.
Check out Above & Beyond Tasmania on their website: www.aboveandbeyond.flights.

Welcome to Episode 9 of Up and Away, the Australian Aviation Podcast!
This week I'm joined by Bevan Anderson, the founder and creator of AvPlan EFB and AvSoft.
Many of you might be aware of EFBs and perhaps are already even using them in flight. For everyone else, EFB stands for Electronic Flight Bag, and it is essentially an app that gives you everything you need to plan a flight!
Bevan founded AvPlan EFB back in 2010 and since it has become one of the most popular EFBs available. We talk about how he came up with the idea, how the software has developed over the years, and how he sees the future of digital technology in the cockpit.
If you're thinking of giving AvPlan a go, head over to their website www.avplan-efb.com, or search AvPlan in the App store on your preferred device.

Welcome to Episode 8 of Up and Away, the Australian Aviation Podcast!
This week we are joined by the editor of Australian Flying Magazine, Steve Hitchen!
Hitch's experience as an editor and an aviation writer has given him the opportunity to cover some amazing stories and have some incredible experiences. We talk about his favourite stories he has covered over the years, his encounter with the legendary Chuck Yeager, formation flying, and why he has desired to have nothing more than a private pilots license (a few endorsements) and to just have fun in the sky!
Australian Flying is a great publication that has been around since 1963 and covers the broad field of general aviation here in Australia. I suggest you all check it out!
Once again, thanks for your support!

On this episode, I'm thrilled to announce I'll be joined by airline pilot and Australian aviation pioneer Deborah Lawrie!
Many of you might already know Deborah, who in 1979 won a landmark anti-discrimitation case in Australia's high court against Ansett Airlines, becoming the first woman to be a pilot with a major Australian airline.

Welcome to Episode 5 of Up and Away, the Australian aviation Podcast!
On this week's episode we have bush pilot Tim Howes!
Tim doesn't like airports, or runways at all! His style of flying sees him landing in places you wouldn't ever imagine seeing a plane. We discuss his story of taking the affordable path into aviation, and how it can be inexpensive for you too. We delve into what bush flying is exactly, and what you need to do and know to keep yourself safe.
We would like to note that the style of flying described in the Podcast can only be achieved safely through dedicated training and experience. It's also important to note, some of these highly-skilled maneuvers, including partial water take-offs and landings are not permitted in Australia. So ensure you obey rules and regulations outlined by CASA, and stay safe!
