  • Have you ever had a bright idea and not known what to do with it?

The inspiration is sometimes the fun and easy part, but when it comes to taking the first steps to making it all happen — or even knowing if you’re fully qualified to TAKE your first steps — is where things get tricky.

The last time I felt this way was when I had the idea to dip my toe into public speaking. I had the idea and the story, but I didn’t know what to do next. Fortunately, I found Mic Drop Workshop which is the online course that launched me into where I am today.

Today’s guest is the creator of Mic Drop Workshop, Jess Ekstrom!

Jess is a serial social entrepreneur and bestselling author. She's has been featured in major media outlets such as the Today Show, Good Morning America, Vanity Fair, and more!

After starting and growing her first multi-million dollar company from her dorm room, her speaking and writing career took off. But Jess realized that her success wasn’t about how far she can reach—but how far she can help other women reach.

Today, she helps women uncover the value in their story so they can make a living and a difference at the same time.

Listen into our convo to hear:

Why Jess believes your college years are some of the best to begin your entrepreneurial journey. Jess’ ‘Try It On’ method (used to find out if a big idea is worth chasing). An honest take on how beginnings almost never feel ‘easy’ — but how that doesn’t mean it isn’t working or worth pursuing. Jess’ ‘Purpose Test’ created to help you find what your purpose is. How to have discernment between what we want and what the world tells us we want.

About Jess: Jess is a serial social entrepreneur and bestselling author of Chasing the Bright Side and Create Your Bright Ideas. She has been featured in major media outlets such as the Today Show, Good Morning America, The View, Vanity Fair, People Magazine, Business Insider, Huffington Post and Forbes.

After starting and growing her multi-million dollar company, Headbands of Hope, her speaking and writing career took off. But Jess realized that her success wasn’t about how far she can reach—but how far she can help other women reach.

Today, through her writing, and her uber popular Mic Drop Workshop®, she helps women uncover the value in their story so they can make a living and a difference at the same time.

  • Embarrassing confession: I didn’t know who the Savannah Bananas were before moving to Savannah Georgia. (I know, right?!)

But if you really know me, you’ll understand why I am now a HUGE Savannah Bananas fan -- because it’s not just baseball for them. It never has been, since the very beginning!

If you know The Savannah Bananas, you know. But if you DON’T know them, well then get cozy because you’re about to hear their entire start-up story from today’s guest.

Today’s guest, Kelsey Orton and her husband Jared (President of the Bananas) were college sweethearts that took a crazy leap of faith as boyfriend + girlfriend, fiances, and then newlyweds when they decided to chase a dream together. In 2016, they helped in the startup of what was a brand new baseball team in Savannah Georgia.

You could say the entire thing was bananas!

Kelsey is also a business owner herself, as a luxury interior designer + the owner/founder of Tennyson Studio here in Savannah. Kelsey is a wife, mom, + a follower of Christ. Her story today is one you don’t want to miss!

    In this episode you'll hear:

They story of Kelsey, Jared, + the entire Banana team’s humble beginnings. Kelsey's advice for dating + chasing dreams as a couple with Christ at the center of it all. How to hold being a mom + chasing dreams at the same time -- including if being a mom IS the dream (the most divine calling, IMO!) Why + how you need to trust God through all of life's ups + downs: career decisions as a college grad, dating, marriage, startup cultures, toxic work enviornments, becoming parents + more.

  • Who else feels like the life you live in your twenties has thousands of eyeballs on it? Like for better or for worse, in social media + IRL, there are people watching every move you make? Sometimes even offering up their opinions -- often without being asked.

Social media, the grapevine, + just the peanut gallery of your own life – they all can make surviving your twenties HARD. And it can cloud your vision when it comes to where you find your worth.

If anyone gets this, it’s Lauren O’Connell. Her friends call her Lolly, which is what you’ll know her as from now on because by the end of our conversation, she’ll feel like your new best friend.

Lolly FULLY felt the friction that comes from surviving her twenties + finding her worth through her experience of playing on Season 38 of CBS’ hit reality TV show, Survivor.

Immediately (like, days) after her college graduation + at the end of her collegiate athletic career, she was stranded on an island with complete strangers to compete in a game that would change her life forever.

    In this episode, you'll hear...

A reminder that we can’t mess up God’s plan for our life + that He is THE only place that our worth comes from. How to navigate the comparison game when it comes to life’s big milestones. How God can use your gifts to write a powerful story, even when you feel like you’re messing it all up. Body image issues + the effects social media can have on them. What Lolly WON after losing the million dollars + being voted off the Survivor Island on day 37 of her season.

  • Try as we might, the rule applies to us too: Nothing Blooms Year-Round.

This week I'm popping in with another mini-episode pulled straight from my online journal. If you're new here, let me catch you up:

I love to write, I love to share, and I love when other people share.

There’s just so much we can benefit from hearing other peoples’ thoughts and experiences and stories!

But, do you know what NOT everybody loves? To read. Ha!

Some of y'all out there (like my husband, for example) are just not readers -- but you can get down with a podcast or an audio book! So, that's what led me to these mini-episodes where I read entries straight from my online journal.

This episode is from an entry I wrote at a time that I was coming out of a season of personal winter. I went into that season kicking and screaming... Anyone else relate?

As life would have it, though -- that's when I learned one of the most important things I've ever learned: Nothing In Nature Blooms Year-Round. Not even us.

Take a listen and let me know what you think!

If you want more content like this please leave a review and let me know!

    My Online Journal: https://www.bailiewhite.com/journal

    Follow Me on Instagram!: https://www.instagram.com/heybailiewhite/

    About Me:

Bailie White is a motivational speaker with 7+ years of entrepreneurial experience and a heart for serving, motivating, and encouraging college-aged women.

Just five years after graduating college, Bailie had started, scaled, and sold her first business: a full-service luxury travel agency that reached multi-millions of dollars in annual sales, a team of 15 women, a celebrity clientele, and was recognized by media outlets like Buzzfeed, Forbes, Travel Pulse, Travel Age West and more.

Today, entrepreneurship looks less like traveling the world and owning a travel company, and more like podcasting and speaking to college women -- empowering them to take OWNERSHIP of their own lives, and live out what Bailie has coined as their own “brand of beautiful.”

She does this by candidly sharing her unique journey through entrepreneurship, life, and the hard-earned lessons learned along the way -- especially the lessons she wishes she had learned before she hit the college graduation stage herself.

  • Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the darkness of our world? Social media, politics, the news, cultural divides… It’s all… just a lot sometimes, you know?

If you’ve ever felt that way, you are not alone. A 2021 study showed that 3 in every 5 girls reported feeling sad or hopeless about our world!

THIS is why I knew we needed Allyson Golden to come and share with us How to Arise and Shine amidst it all. Her latest book speaks directly to How To Be a Light That Ignites Hope in a Dark World.

You might know Allyson from her popular Instagram page, @wordsaregolden — but she is also a part-time pediatric nurse, seminary student, a wife, friend, author, speaker and more.

In our conversation, we are chatting about:

How to embrace the “both-and” callings on our lives. How The Lord can use our darkest moments + deepest sources of pain for good. What spiritual warfare looks like when we’re living into our calling. Necessary spiritual disciplines we as women are tempted to avoid.

All of this + more on this week’s episode, my friends. I cannot wait for you to hear these GOLDEN words from Allyson Golden.

About Allyson Golden: Allyson Golden is the creator of the online ministry Words Are Golden, where she champions women in their faith. She is currently enrolled in seminary to obtain her master of biblical and theological studies degree. Allyson and her husband, Michael, partner in ministry at their local church in San Diego. • How are you supposed to know if it's 'Best Friends FOREVER' or if it's time to close the door on a friendship?

Relationships are a powerful part of all of our Brands of Beautiful which is why we felt covering them on this season of the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast was so important.

Join us this week for part two of our two-part series on relationships with Hannah Grace Hall.

Today’s episode is a little outside of our norm here on the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast for a couple reasons:

Instead of a typical interview-type chat, you’re about to listen to a much more raw conversation that Bailie had with a friend of over 20 years, Hannah Grace Hall. This episode is part of a two-part series about relationships. Today’s episode is about friendships, last week was about marriage.

This week, you'll hear Bailie and Hannah Grace chat openly about friendships, including:

What society's fascination is with having a friend ‘group' How Hannah Grace believes there is only one ‘wrong’ way to do friendship. How to know when to fight for a friendship or allow a chapter to close. What Bailie’s “fruit of the spirit” litmus test is for friendships. How to find honest friends in life.

If you love this episode, please let us know, so that we can bring even more like them to your earbuds in season two of the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast!

About Hannah Grace: Hannah Grace was born in Nashville TN and raised in Texas. She graduated from high school and immediately went to beauty school in Franklin TN. She has been a hairstylist for 10 years and currently is running a single studio space called The Grace Collective. She is also exploring what God has called her to in this season of motherhood and career.

During her cosmetology career she has been an employee, freelance hair & makeup artist, and owned a storefront salon in the suburbs of Nashville TN. Her salon won best in their town as well as ran huge community events impacting not just their clients but their entire town. Hannah Grace is passionate about bringing people together, loving her community well and pointing others to Jesus. Her passion for serving others and loving her community shines through her everyday life and not just in her career.

She has been married for seven years and has two children whom she adores. Her favorite title she’s ever had is mom.

  • Why do people prepare for the wedding more than they do the marriage? We have to believe that’s part of why nearly 50% of all marriages end in divorce.

Marriage is beautiful. It’s a gift from God. And, it takes work. Why aren’t more people talking about that?

Marriage is also a magnificent part of many listeners' Brands of Beautiful – either currently in this season, or perhaps marriage is something they hope to one day have – so let’s talk about it!

Today’s episode is a little outside of our norm here on the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast for a couple reasons:

And while Hannah Grace would have loads of wisdom to share about being a hairstylist or a business woman, today she and Bailie are simply having girl talk about relationships:

Relationships with self Relationships with God Relationships inside of a marriage Relationships between friends

They're talking about the hard stuff. The messy stuff. The vulnerable stuff.

We're thankful to Hannah Grace for generously sharing her story with us, knowing that testimonies breed testimonies, and that her story might help someone...

inside of their own marriage, as they prepare for a marriage, as they plan for what marriage might one day be like for them.

Join us today as we honor Hannah Grace’s faithfulness to be truthful about hard things, in a way that paints a picture of honest hope. We hope you enjoy this very open, raw conversation about marriage.

  • Have you ever found yourself experiencing outwardly success, but not recognizing the person staring back at you in the mirror? Have you ever been climbing towards the top of a mountain that you’re not even sure was meant for you to begin with?

Phew! You already know that I'm with you on that, sister. And on this week’s episode, I’m chatting with someone else who knows a thing or two about being trapped in a successful reality she doesn’t belong in.

Olivia Adriance is a health food enthusiast with a passion for whipping up uncomplicated, nutritious, and delicious meals out of her home kitchen in Austin, TX. After graduating University of San Diego, she worked for 4 years in corporate consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers before beginning her content creation and recipe sharing journey that you know her from today!

Now I bet you’re wondering — wait, corporate consulting? Accounting? And now… a recipe content creator? Yep! And the story behind how she got from point A to point B is one worth exploring.

In our convo, we’re chatting all about things like:

Healthy eating tips on a budget (I couldn’t NOT make a pivot towards a health podcast on this one) + Olivia’s sound advice on what she calls “not majoring in the minors” when it comes to healthy eating. The power of community, the importance of who you surround yourself with, and why that is a fundamental ingredient in whipping up your Brand of Beautiful. What an “overnight success” experience actually looks + feels like. Hint: there’s nothing ‘overnight’ about it.

Olivia’s journey to creating her Brand of Beautiful is one worth listening to, mostly because of the difficult (yet necessary) steps she took with intention along the way.

From a career she felt trapped inside of to the creative genius and Insta-chef she is in the kitchen today, Olivia is here to remind us that success is defined only through the eyes of the beholder + that you shouldn’t quit working for your version of a beautiful life until you’ve arrived. Oh, and to make sure to cook delicious, Whole Foods along the way!

  • Fears. The fear of failure. The fear of pain. The fear of embarrassment. The fear of being alone. The fear of being misunderstood. The fear of fill-in-the-blank-word with whatever it is holding you back today.

We've GOT to learn to get rid of the fears that hold us back from creating our Brands of Beautiful in life. We -- together -- you and I both do! The idea of Eliminating Fears is an everyday idea that we have to revisit over and over again -- as many times as we need to.

Tune into this week's mini-episode where I share about...

HOW I learned to elminate my fears, WHEN in life I've had to put it into practice, and WHAT I got from it all on the other side.

I share this so that hopefully, someone else might decide to eliminate their own fears -- and then make the change, chase down the opportunity, pursue the dream, or take the risk.

I hope you enjoy this mini-epsidoe on the Your Brand of Beautiful podcast read straight from my online journal: https://www.bailiewhite.com/journal

  • So you’re nervous about the hundreds of different post-grad paths you can walk down, right? Questions like: Which path do I take? How do I go to the ‘next level’? What if I fail? What if I need to pivot?

All of the above are common thoughts racing through the minds of college-aged girls. Thankfully, todays conversation is SURE to give your mind the peace it’s looking for!

This week, I'm chatting with Brianna Glenn. Brianna is a globally ranked American long jumper, having competed as a professional athlete following graduation from the University of Arizona. After spending nearly all of her twenties competing, she knew it was time to shake things up. Today, she's the owner + founder of Milk + Honey Travels, where she plans travel for other wanderlusty souls and gets to keep traveling the world as a part of her job description.

Brianna loves helping people. At the root of it all, helping people is where her heart is at. Which is why I know something in our conversation today will help YOU.

    You'll hear us discuss:

The mindset shift Brianna experienced in college that took her to an olympic level of competion. Brianna's take on what failure truly is, and why she's such a believer in the 'life pivot.' Advice Brianna would give to her younger self, like throwing out your timeline or asking yourself the right questions in life, for example.

I just know there is something in here for YOU, sister. And I can’t wait for you to listen in.

About Brianna: Brianna is a globally ranked American long jumper. • If you’ve ever wondered IF there is beauty in your brokenness, you are not alone. And if you’ve ever wondered HOW to FIND the beauty in your brokenness, you aren’t alone in that, either.

When it comes to finding beauty in your brokenness, there is honestly no one better to talk to than Cassandra Speer.

Cassandra is a 2x Best Selling Author, Speaker, Bible Teacher, Mamapreneur and VP/Partner of Her True Worth, a Kingdom-focused ministry dedicated to helping women know and live from their true worth & identity in Christ.

In our convo, we’re talking about some of my favorite topics:

Understanding past hurts and traumas; including what they do to our brain, body, and nervous system. How to confidently choose and walk down the many paths of our own life. What our response to words like ‘manifestation’ and ‘visualization’ should be as Christian dreamers.

Cassandra’s story and message are truly important, and I know after hearing this conversation you’ll be reminded of how The Lord can use your brokenness inside of Your Brand of Beautiful in the most profound and incredible ways.
