Cristina Milizia - League of Legends and more, started rockin' the mic at 8 years old. This is episodes 1, 2 and 3 edited together one one episode. Enjoy!
This expanded, in-depth 3-in-1 episode interview with Cristina Milizia runs 1 hour and 20 min. There is a second compilation of the rest of the interview with episodes 4, 5, and 6. Must.Listen.
In part one, we learn about her introduction to VO at age 8, her surprise at the LOL fan base, why how she decided to leave and then return to VO...
In part two, Cristina picks up from her University experience and working part-time at Jamba Juice and Starbucks. Finances became an issue for her and her family back at home. It was a huge dilemma and struggle. She made the call to go back to California. It was a pivotal decision. Cristina let everyone know she was back in NorCal! There was a question about her voice changing with age yet as she aged. Creativity Inc. was a creative services company that provided VO, music, sfx and more for toys and games, and Cristina got invited to work there in a salaried position as a voice talent. A.Huge.Boon. It was an incredible on-the-job education about voiceover. She stayed 6 years, ending as a voice talent coordinator. It was her initiation into doing VO as an adult, rather than little girl voices. She even got her first agent while she was there. Then, a big, dramatic, unexpected change in the course of her life. A terrible snowboarding accident leaving her lucky to be alive, with lots of physical damage and a wounded psyche.
In part 3, Cristina's life changes in a snowboard accident. She lost weight; suffered from mysterious pain. She saw doctor after doctor, stopped working at Creativity Inc., and went on disability. Cristina’s determination created her new path because the medical system failed her: She became a certified personal trainer so she could get her own answers to her physical problems. Chronic pain, the ability to walk only half a block… Depression… She made decided that VO must provide her a full-time income. Another crossroads… 86 pounds. Hair falling out. Essentially – she was dying. It was terrifying. She made a HUGE decision in her sobering reality...

Staying supple -Epiphanies about failure - Gaming IS Shakespeare!
Kay Bess on LovethatVoiceover, part 4 of 4
All about staying supple with her skills, Kay gives us the inside perspective of her experience with VO training - when she does it and whom she's done it with. Names you've probably heard about, but her perspective on working with folks like Nancy Wolfson, Pat Fraley, Rob Paulson and Ceila Seigel.
Then Kay tells us a VERY personal story about a specific pivotal and dramatic moment in her career - which led her to summarize on epiphanies about failures. Kay explains how some of our best understanding comes from our worst emotional moments. In this case - losing a gig to a good friend and figuring out how to pick herself up from it.

Using Improv in Your VO Career? YES and… some surprises with Kay Bess
Part 3 of 4 on LovethatVoiceover
In this 3rd part of my interview with Kay Bess, we have a nice discussion about improvisation and what it means to each of us as it relates to a voiceover career. It’s a really cool conversation because we both have a small revelation about what we mean by the word ‘improvisation’.
So we discuss the concept of ‘acting improvisation’ versus pure improvisation. We also find hear her story of age 7 and being asked to be ‘funny’ on stage – poor thing! We also touch on that aspect of community in VO again - how we are all somewhat isolated and looking to connect… Some specific improv examples with a script and Kay’s quotable line, “It’s really about keeping your mind sharp, open and willing.” Kay also gives a shout out to Rob Paulson and his live podcast because … well listen to my show and hear about it!! Kay Bess is an American voice actress with over 20 years experience and is the female voice of The Tennis Channel, the female imaging voice for Q107 Toronto, and narrated the insanely popular TV series The Property Brothers on HGTV, seasons 1-4. She was the female voice of DIRECTV from 2009-2013. Agents get You Work? & other Paradigm Shifts: VO Artist Kay Bess
Episode 2 of 4 on LovethatVoiceover
In the first half of this episode Kay shares how she went through VO business changes since the beginning and her “Santa Barbara Moment”. At a certain point Kay reflected that she wasn’t the director in her life, she was just an actor. But by asking herself tough questions, she started making transitions and became the "captain of her own ship".
In the second half, “Big reflections over Agents”, Kay shares her talent agent pivotal moment – changing agencies – and revelations from which we can all learn on many levels.

Rick Riley - The VOICE of the Minnesota Vikings - Joins Love That Voiceover!
part 1 of 2
Rick Riley, VO artist & storyteller, is a former radio personality with almost 30 yrs behind the mic, with 16 yrs doing a drive time show in Miami. Swept out of Clear Channel, he searched for his roots and found VO. He is the VOICE of the Minnesota Vikings and a feature voice for NFL films. And More... Audio was his LIFE, but Rick Riley didn’t want to do voiceover after a very successful Miami 30 yr drive-time radio show. However, Clear Channel shut that down, so he had to move on. Rick tried to do a syndicated show, but it didn’t take off as he wanted. He decided, with outside encouragement, to step into voiceover, trying “pay to play” as a first step. Guess what? He didn’t like how he sounded doing commercials! He felt really green compared to national talent, but didn’t know why. He got coaching from Nancy Wolfson, learned a TON about script interpretation… pretty soon he got an agent, started booking jobs… Once he was more confident of his own ability… the dominoes fell! He’s a natural storyteller.. And has learned how commercials have changed: Selling the product “ain’t” selling the product! Now with the Minnesota Vikings production company, they’ve won 3 Emmy’s and both he and the producers acknowledge what the other does. Help your clients feel like each of them is No. 1! Treat your clients so they provide you the foundation for success! Become an Epic Storyteller like Rick! Learn more about Rick at his website www.RickRileyVoice.com
