  • Remi Cruz has been a queen of content creation before it was even considered a job. Since her start as a vlogger on YouTube, she has grown her audience to millions of subscribers across two channels, on top of two podcasts: Pretty Basic and Basically Unfiltered. Lana Del Rey even gave her a shout-out as one of her favorite vloggers! And that is well-deserved praise; Remi’s bright personality makes her feel like she could be anyone’s best friend. We’re so excited to have Remi on the podcast to talk about how she juggles it all, what she’s learned about self-love over the years, and if there’s anything she’d want to do differently.

  • One of the biggest challengers to living in the present moment are digital distractions. The advancement of consumer technology has resulted in a lot of habits and behaviors that are detrimental to our health - negative effects on our brains, our ability to focus, our ideas about ourselves, and the quality of our social skills and relationships which have resulted in a loneliness epidemic.

In this episode, I chat with Palak Dave, Founder and CEO of Embiria – a movement and membership community designed to help people slow down and savor life, about this very issue. Through Embiria, she promotes intentional living, urging you to prioritize real-life experiences and connection over digital noise. She is also a speaker, investor, and author of the newly released book Beautiful Everydays: A Guide to Living in the Here and Now. We also chat about her previous career as an award-winning marketer in corporate settings, making the shift to entrepreneurship, being a woman of color and child of immigrants, and her perspective on work-life balance as an entrepreneur in the wellness space.

Since then, she’s taught us all which products are the best to buy when traveling, how your gut health is related to skin health, and how you can achieve her iconic #JELLOSKIN from the inside out. Not only is she an absolute boss in the beauty world now, but Ava was an investment banker before jumping into content creation. We’re so excited to learn more about Ava’s Korean and Chinese roots, her 3 must-have products, and future plans for her brand, byAVA.

  • In this episode, I’m diving deep into a relationship that’s been central to my life for almost 8 years—my friendship with my roommate, Dar. If you’ve listened to earlier episodes, you’ll know why I chose to live with a roommate, but today, I want to explore who that roommate is and how we became each other’s home away from home.
From our origin story to the pivotal moments that shaped our bond, I’ll be sharing the journey of how Dar and I went from mutual friends to an unbreakable duo. We’re still actively grieving after moving apart, and honestly, I cry in this one, but it’s a story worth sharing. Tune in as I reflect on this deeply meaningful friendship and what it’s meant to me over the years.

  • You might be familiar with the satisfying feeling of crossing something off your to-do list. Or maybe you’re someone who keeps a mental checklist of tasks in your head (very impressive). As business owners, partners, and friends, we have a lot of different sectors of life to keep track of. From to-do lists, to Google calendars, to alarms, what are our lifelines for staying on top of things? Is it difficult to align planning styles with significant others? And what are the tasks that we keep hitting snooze on?

  • In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I’m diving into one of the most challenging yet essential aspects of parenting—discipline. As my own 2 (almost 3) year-old toddler reaches that age where boundaries and lessons are really starting to push my buttons! I’ve been exploring the best ways to approach discipline that feel supportive, nurturing, and effective. When do we start disciplining our little ones, and how do we do it in a way that feels right for our families? From positive discipline to time-ins, natural consequences, and setting clear but compassionate boundaries, I did the research so you don't have to. We’ll talk about how to stay calm (even when it’s really hard!) and teach our kids important lessons in a loving, gentle way. If you’re navigating this phase or just getting ready for it, I hope this episode offers some helpful tips and encouragement

  • Birthdays are an interesting time to reflect and evaluate, and honestly, it’s been one of the harder years of my life. It was the perfect storm - a cataclysm of many things being upheaved, in transition, unsettled, or in flux. Moreover, I turned 39 this year. It’s the year before I enter a new decade - pretty much midlife - and when we are at this stage of life, there are a lot of life milestones that we are confronted with. In some ways, my life does not look how I thought it would at 39. And having to face that reality while still being kind to myself and willing the confidence and fervor that’s required to make change and keep going has been pretty exhausting. But I want to take this episode as an opportunity to share some of the things I’ve learned over the course of my 39 years, and especially this past year. If you are like me, in your late 30s and on the brink of entering your 40s, maybe some of this will resonate. Or, if you’re younger - in your early 30s or 20s - perhaps some of these learnings can be of benefit or inspiration for you.

  • When you’re stuck in a cycle of stress and burnout, it can feel like the only solution is a month-long (or even year-long) vacation. Unfortunately, that’s not always realistic, nor is it a long-term solution. Today’s guest, Dr. Aditi Nerurkar, has made it her goal to present people with actionable and practical tactics to combat stress and burnout. These are The 5 Resets - simple steps that you can take, daily, to improve your well-being. We’re so excited to have this Harvard stress expert here to teach us how to “Stop, Breathe, and Be.”

  • In this heartwarming episode of No Dumb Questions, I’m thrilled to welcome Jocelyn Chung, a graphic designer, creator, and newly-published children's book author, to the podcast! We instantly connected during my last visit to Taiwan, and today we’re diving into her debut book, “When Love is More Than Words”, a story that beautifully captures how love transcends language, especially within Asian families—a theme that deeply resonates with me, having grown up with my grandparents and extended family.

Jocelyn shares the inspiration behind her book, how her upbringing in a Taiwanese-American household influenced her storytelling, and the creative journey from designer to author. We also explore the challenges she faced as a first-time author and the cultural values she hopes to pass on through her work. Whether you love children's books or simply believe in the power of love beyond words, this episode is a must-listen!

  • Matthew Hussey revealed “the best relationship advice that no one ever told you” on The Mel Robbins Podcast recently in the form of the “4 Levels” framework. It sounds relatively straightforward: 1) Admiration, 2) Mutual Attraction, 3) Commitment, and 4) Compatibility. But personal experience proves that getting from one level to the next requires risk-taking and emotional vulnerability. So how do you structure these hard conversations with a partner to get to that next level?

  • In this episode of Spill the Baby Tea, I’m getting deeply personal as I share my experience with acupuncture on our journey to conceive again after the heart-wrenching loss of our first pregnancy. After our miscarriage, I found myself searching for anything that could help us heal and increase our chances of bringing a little one into our lives. Acupuncture seemed like a gentle, holistic approach, but what I wasn’t prepared for was the emotional toll—on top of the physical discomfort and financial strain. I’ll take you through what it’s like—the sadness, the frustrations, the small moments of hope, the crying in the car... the weight of it all. If you’ve ever been curious about acupuncture for fertility or are navigating your own fertility journey, this episode is for you <3

  • When you were young, you might have looked at people who were “adulting” - working full-time, paying bills, etc. - and seen that as the benchmark for adulthood. But are these tasks really what makes someone a certified adult? If not, what are the experiences that transformed us from disorganized & irresponsible youths to who we are today? Grab your most responsible friend, because we’re diving deep into this topic in today’s episode!

Share your favorite “adulting” practice in the comments!

  • Do we experience ‘Eldest Daughter Syndrome’? If you haven’t heard this term before, typically it refers to the unique challenges and responsibilities that shape the personalities of eldest daughters - particularly in immigrant families. It’s a title that none of us chose, but many have found that the pressure of parental expectations and the need to be a role model for our younger siblings can have both positive and negative effects. On today’s episode, the two eldest daughters of ABG - Janet and Mel - chat about when they first realized they were the eldest, why they were a “guinea pig” for their parents, and how their relationship with younger siblings has changed in adulthood.

  • Planning a big trip with friends can be both exciting and a little stressful. Today’s episode was inspired by one of my team members after I shared that I’m heading to Vietnam soon with my college friends! She asked me how I usually plan these types of trips, and it got me thinking—coordinating travel preferences, schedules, and personalities can be a lot to manage!

With my Vietnam trip just around the corner, I thought it would be perfect to bring on one of my best friends, Tiff, who’s also helping me plan this adventure. Tiff and I go way back—we were roommates at UC San Diego for 3 years and have been close ever since. She knows me better than almost anyone, and we’ve traveled together a few times, but this is our first big international trip!

In this episode, we’ll dive into how we’re approaching this trip, from managing everyone’s preferences to keeping things fun and organized. Whether you’re gearing up for your own trip with friends or just love hearing about travel planning, I hope this conversation gives you some helpful tips along the way!

  • We’re in the final weeks of summer, but because the past few months have been so eventful, we haven’t had a chance to check in with ourselves and each other! In fact, summers in general now just look so different in our 30’s, particularly when friends start to have kids. When we’re part of different “villages” with various priorities and obligations, how do we still have meaningful hangouts with loved ones? From Phil’s 40th Birthday Cruise to Janet’s sister’s baby shower, we share some highlights, things we learned, and how we maintain balance in the midst of these milestone events.

  • Today, we’re uncovering the secrets to finding the perfect daycare that will set your little one on the path to success. We’re talking about the must-ask questions, tips for navigating the application process, and how to spot the red flags before it’s too late. Whether you're just starting the search or drowning in options, we’ve got you covered with everything you need to know to make a confident and informed choice. Get ready to feel empowered and excited about this important milestone in your child’s life!

And as promised, here are questions I asked each of the schools we visited:

What is the daily schedule like?

How is naptime handled? Where do they sleep? Can my child bring a blanket/lovey?

    What is the staff-to-child ratio?

How long have the teachers been at the school? What are the qualifications of the caregivers? Do they have early childhood education degrees?

What is the expectation for potty training? Are they expected to wipe themselves?

What are the policies on sick children?

What are the safety protocols? (Check that the facility is licensed by the state and that they have clear safety protocols in place. Look for things like secured entrances and childproofing.)

    How does discipline typically work?

What is the standard communication of how your child is doing? Daily and periodic check-ins?

How do I FEEL after this visit? (This was super important for me to jot down! These feelings are easy to forget after visiting so many schools.)
