Published on 11 Sep 2017. What's your excuse? I'm not asking you to list the details of the event or circumstance; I'm asking you to identify the reason you are telling yourself or others the story about what happened to prevent you from doing something. In my work, I hear excuses all the time. People have a list of reasons they weren't able to attend an event, or hire me as a coach, or meet their sales quote, or have a loving relationship, etc. To them, the list of reasons are legitimate. From an outside perspective, however, I see it as form of self-sabotage. When we step outside of our comfort zone, life events will happen and we will use that as a reason for not achieving what we set out to achieve. Listen as I explain:

Published on 20 Nov 2017. We typically do not want to wear our clothes inside out. However, I think we should live our lives inside out! Our society has taught us to live outside in, meaning living in such a way as to bring things, people, love, appreciation, validation, etc., from outside of us into our experience of life. This leaves us always looking for the next thing, the next relationship, etc. to make us feel more significant. Safe, secure, significant, loved is what we already are. The things of our life should be expressions of self worth, not the cause of it. Listen as I explain:

Published on 13 Feb 2018. We all know the phrase "thoughts become things." It is true: everything that exists started as a thought. However, scientists have proven that thoughts and emotions in the human body emit a specific energy wave, each having its own unique vibration. So, thoughts do not just become things, thoughts actually are things. If we can objectively identify our thoughts, we can decide which ones are serving us well and which ones are not. If a thought is not healthy for us, we can let it go. "Let it Go" is step 4 in "The 7 Steps of Stress Mastery" that Bill Cortright and I teach in our workshops and coaching practices. Published on 05 Jan 2018. Do you live in fear? Your initial response may be "no," but fear is a sneaky energy that shows up in the most unexpected places. Our desire to belong to a certain group, wear certain clothes, have certain friends, etc., is a desire that often originates in fear. What about lies? Have you ever told even a small lie? All lies are born from fear. In this episode, I talk about the origin of fear by looking at the origin of mankind. Listen as I explain:

Published on 24 Jan 2018. Yael Shy, the author of "What Now? Meditation for Your Twenties and Beyond," says she came to meditation from "a lot of suffering" as a student at New York University in 2001 -- the same year the World Trade Center towers fell near her New York City dorm during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Published on 29 Sep 2016. There’s a fundamental belief that separates the people who feel like they have it all from the people who don’t, and that’s the belief that you have the power to CHOOSE.
It’s all about CHOICE. That’s the difference maker.
People who feel in their heart and soul that they have it all, have made a conscious choice to feel that way. They’ve literally decided that they can have it all in life, and subsequent choices aligned with the core belief.
My guest today is a powerful example and evangelist of that belief!
Heather Gray’s business name says it all: Choose To Have It All. Sounds sort of familiar, huh?
Heather is an executive coach, working with entrepreneurs and business leaders who have achieved that EXTERNAL success - you know, the great career, fat bank account, titles behind their name, but that success has come at the expense of their internal well being. What Heather does is she helps them have the lifestyle and wealth that they want, but also the personal fulfillment that they truly desire.
If you’ve read Stephen Covey’s landmark book The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People, then you may remember that Habit #1 is “Be Proactive”, and that the essence of that habit (the major takeaway) is CHOICE. Proactive people are aware of their ability to choose: choose their response to circumstances, choose their relationship to themselves, others and life, and choose their level of joy and peace in life.
That’s the recurring theme in my conversation with Heather.
What you’ll hear in this episode:
How to tap into your previous experience to find strength and add to your personal toolbox Why you sometimes have to “embrace the suck” in order to move forward How to show compassion and empathy in the face of someone else’s struggle -
