So he refused the kingâs offer to go back to the palace and have a meal. Hearing what signs the mysterious prophet had done, an old prophet in the city left to go find the man of God. When he found him, he lied to him and brought him back into the city to enjoy a meal. But during the meal, God made his message clear that this meal would be his last because of his disobedience.

Episode 118: Jeroboam, Israelâs new king, built a new capital in Shechem to separate themselves from Judah. However, because the temple of God was in Judah, people would still travel from his kingdom to worship in Judah. Jeroboam feared this would lead to the loss of his kingdom and his life. So he, like Aaron so many years before, made two golden calves and introduced them as Israel's new gods. Slowly Jeroboam added more and more idols into Israelâs public worship. God would not stand for the corruption of His people and sent a prophet to let him know what would become of his idolatrous altar.

Episode 117: Solomonâs lust for foreign women eventually led him to foreign worship as well. This idolatry not only tore apart his relationship with God but would tear the kingdom from his hands as well. During the reign of his son Rehoboam, Jeroboam, one of his servants who had fled from him, returned. He came to confront the new king about the injustices of his father, hoping he would change. However, when Rehoboam refused the wise counsel of his elders and gave a harsh message to the people, the ten tribes of the north left him and followed Jeroboam instead.

Episode 113: As David is dying, he calls in his son Solomon to bless him and speak Godâs promises over him. David instructs him on what he should do with Joab and Shimei and requests that he show kindness to Barzillai of Gilead. But Adonijah was not done trying for the throne. He made a request of Bathsheba that Solomon rightly discerned as a claim to the throne. And so as per their agreement, he was executed. Solomon sought to rule his kingdom in fairness and enacted punishments that showed mercy to those who deserved death.

As he was making a feast for himself among a select group of people to proclaim him king, Nathan and Bathsheba hurry to David requesting that he publicly announce Solomon as king.

Episode 111: In a moment of insecurity, David called in Joab, commander of his army, to go throughout the nation of Israel and take a census of the people. Joab saw the evil this would cause and protested, but the will of the king prevailed. It wasnât until after the census was complete that David realized his guilt. The Prophet Gad confronted him and while he chose his punishment, he also realized that he was to blame, not the people.

David called the Gibeonites to him and gave them their request, the life of Saulâs sons. After this, the famine eased and Israel once again flourished. However, this flourishing would draw out more enemies of Israel and more battles, battles that David was too old to fight in.

The woman wanted peace for her city, and Joab, wanting the same said he would happily leave if they give him the rebel Sheba. So the woman returned to the city, threw the head of Sheba out of a window, and Joab, Abishai, and their men left.

He took her in and cared for her but he also took the spirit of revenge in and nursed it in his heart. Two years later he killed Amnon and fled to Geshur.
