Our bodies often store past trauma and current stress. There are ways to let go of trauma, traditionally we think of talk therapy or counselling. For decades now, emerging therapies that can make tremendous gains in the area of trauma resolution involve tapping into the trauma stored in the body.
We condition ourselves to move in socially acceptable ways. This means we stifle the urge to jump, stretch, wiggle, shout out, skip, shake....and many other movements.
Kids do this very well. We need to relearn how to engage in movement. We need to relearn what our body asks of us. It can feel embarrassing, we can be shy, feel shame, fear, panic, doubt, frustration...or any other difficult emotion when we attempt to engage in movement that truly would set us free from our stresses and from the baggage we carry.
Here are a few ideas and a guided meditation on how we can more mindfully engage in movement that can help us live more mindful, happier lives.
What part of this seems easy for you? Difficult?
Does it feel doable?
I challenge to you to explore movement this week. Feel what your body needs... engage in that movement...and again feel the change (if any) of sensations.

Do you know what ripples you make?
What is the impact that you have on others, and in the world?
Often we may not know or learn of the ripples we make…BUT if we’re attentive to how people respond to us and observe our experiences we can learn to have the effect on the world that we strive for. We truly can create the life we want to live.
You can choose words…or embrace silence…and take actions…according to the impact you want to have and not the IMPULSE you have.
This week's challenge:
1) Embrace the silence a little more and pay attention to how someone responses to what you say or do. Is it what you thought? What else can you do/say/embrace to have the impact you desire?
2) Practice being mindful.
When mindful, you are more ware of yourself and have more control over deliberate words and actions rather than acting on impulse.
When mindful, you can better observe.
Practice mindfulness daily. This helps you to be more mindful in every other moment of the day.
