Suspicion is the Toronto Star’s investigative true crime podcast. Season 3, "40 Years Cold," is a 4-part series. Four decades ago, two women were killed in their Toronto homes. Despite their efforts, police couldn’t trace any leads and the cases went cold. Then, nearly four decades later, science changed the way police close in on a killer. In this season, crime reporter Wendy Gillis and court reporter Betsy Powell take you through the nights of the murders, the tragic circumstances of a murderer, and the stunning conclusion of a 40 years long cold case.
Season 2, “The Billionaire Murders: The hunt for the killers of Honey and Barry Sherman,” is a 9-part podcast probing the strange case of the famous Toronto couple who were found strangled in their Toronto home in 2017. For five years, the Star’s chief investigative reporter Kevin Donovan has covered the Sherman case, fought court battles to access documents on the police investigation and the Shermans and their estate, and wrote a book about it.
Suspicion season 1, Death in a Small Town, was also hosted by Donovan. What began as just another day for the McLellan family would end with their youngest son clinging to life in hospital and a cloud of suspicion hanging over his mother and father. -

True crime podcasts have been having a moment — and, more often than not, behind those podcasts are doggedly determined reporters: People who hit the street, knock on doors and ask hard questions.
Because of their work, we often know every little detail about the crimes they cover, but what we don't hear enough is what it was actually like to report on those stories, to sit in courtrooms, chase down leads, get to know family members and talk to witnesses.
True Crime Byline — a podcast by Postmedia and Antica Productions — sets out to do this. -

In 2008, a young real estate agent named Lindsay Buziak was murdered inside a vacant, $1-million home in Victoria, British Columbia on Vancouver Island.
Lindsay’s murder shook the community—and made international news.
But with few new details coming to light, investigators eventually hit a wall.
So in 2019, Capital Daily, a local news and investigative journalism outlet, embarked on a quest for new information about the unsolved murder that continues to haunt the community, Lindsay’s many friends, and her family. The intent was to separate fact from fiction.
Now, people who had sworn off doing another interview are re-breaking their silence.
And people who were close with Lindsay are giving extended interviews for the first time.
With this new podcast series, Capital Daily is finally ready to reveal its reporting, with new details from people who were there. With unexpected twists and turns. And with a glimmer of hope.
Fifteen years after Lindsay’s murder, a new story is ready to be told by investigative journalist Zander Sherman and Capital Daily. -
The mystery Zebb Quinn has more questions than answers. The reality is, no one will ever truly know what happened to Zebb Wayne Quinn. By all accounts the 18-year-old was the quiet kid in class … the person you’d see at Walmart … truly the guy next door – a good kid.
Nothing could prepare the community, detectives, or the Quinn family for the circus about to consume their idyllic mountain town for over two decades.
From Zebb’s disappearance in 2000 to rumors of a lover’s triangle, the cryptic clues left behind in Zebb’s Mazda, and the gruesome discovery of a murdered couple that left the bright lights of Hollywood for a slower lifestyle.
Years of questions all connected to one man … a man that would become notorious through his heinous actions.
A Good Guy: The 22-year murder mystery of Zebb Quinn,” is hosted by General Assignment and Special Projects reporter, Samiar Nefzi and WLOS anchor Holly Headrick. The news coverage of the Gilgo Beach murders began with a single live shot: a live remote, plagued with technical difficulties, from a barren and frozen beach off Long Island's South Shore.
Little did anyone know how important that report would be. No one could have predicted the international spectacle that would follow.
That first report was on an impossibly cold December night in 2011. They had found bodies on a remote Long Island beach. And soon, more bones turned up in the sand.
It was a serial killer's graveyard by the sea.
The story of the Gilgo Beach murders - and the hunt for the suspect - is as convoluted as it is creepy, and Eyewitness News tells it like nobody else.
From the first gruesome discoveries to an arrest more than 12 years later, our team of reporters describes the twists and turns of covering a true crime mystery in real time.
Follow "Eyewitness to Gilgo Beach" now and never miss a new episode of our true crime series. -

In 2006, Canadian Huseyin Celil, a Uyghur refugee, travelled with his wife and children to Uzebekistan to visit family. What was supposed to be a family reunion ended when he was arrested under false pretenses and eventually delivered to China where he was sent to prison. 17-years later, his fate remains unknown and his family desperate for answers.
‘Extradition: The Search for Huseyin Celil,’ a six-part investigative series from TVO Today, reopens the diplomatic cold case. With China implementing harsher crackdowns on its Uyghur population, Huseyin was cut off from communicating from his family. No one knows how he’s doing or where he is. In the wake of the release of the Two Michaels in 2021, the series re-examines why Canada couldn’t do the same for Huseyin. It investigates whether the Canadian government has done all it can to release him, and takes matters into its own hands to get more information on Huseyin’s whereabouts today. Hosted by Yusuf Zine.
