It's Day For Night 2.0 as Houston's new flagship festival returns, shattering every bar it set in its wildly successful debut in 2015. With monster music lineups and showcasing mind blowing visual art installations, Day For Night has established itself as one of the most elite music festivals worldwide in just two years. Honored and humbled to be able to attend as media, DDP is joined on site by two Houston icons gaining international recognition, Kam Franklin of the Suffers, and rap artist Fat Tony. Also in this episode, Brian Chippendale, drummer and vocalist of the legendary two-piece experimental/noise rock band, Lightning Bolt, sits down with us and shares history, memories, and knowledge while we check off another favorite drummer off our bucket list. Scott Sturgeon and Jesse Sendejas are two musicians who front Leftöver Crack and Days n Daze respectively. Popularly known by his stage name "Stza", Scott Sturgeon gained a worldwide following by being the front man not only to LÖC, but also to Choking Victim and Star Fucking Hipsters, three of the most prolific and notorious ska-punk acts to emerge in the last two decades. Days N Daze is a folk-punk band that borrows elements from hardcore and crust music who after spending some time as one of the flagship bands in Houston's punk scene, is gaining nationwide attention and rising to prominence.

Chris is the drummer and a founding member of And So I Watch You From Afar, a four piece instrumental band formed in Belfast, Ireland. Four groundbreaking albums under their belt and with another on the way, ASIWYFA draw ever closer to perfecting their unique sound that draws elements from post rock and math, crafting songs that showcase their affinity for blending beautiful soundscapes, bright guitar melodies, anthemic vocals, and technical yet inherently raw energy.

Ku Egenti is a Houston based stand-up comedian who was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Ku is frequently a staple in the many comedy festivals and showcases that make up a big part of Houston's surging comedy scene. He has also never seen the original Star Wars trilogy despite claiming he's a fan of Harrison Ford.

Zia McCabe and Peter Holmström are the respective keyboardist/bassist and the guitarist for The Dandy Warhols, a four piece band from Portland, OR who have achieved a status as one of the most prominent alternative rock bands ever since forming in 1994. Having gained commercial success early in their career, the band has since built an extensive catalogue of music that incorporates a wide spectrum of influences, ranging anywhere from psychedelia and shoegaze to blues rock and synth pop. He is one of the original members of Another Run, a band known for its eclectic mix of everything from indie, pop, and post-hardcore incorporated in its sound. Jonathan Perez is a Houston musician currently known for his one man project, Pitter Patter, as well as being one half of the duo that formed the late great Female Demand, a band that helped shape the Houston underground music scene into what it is today. In keeping with a tradition of having on our favorite drummers, we're honored to have John Clardy return to the podcast! John is the drummer for one of our most favorite bands ever (and former guests), Tera Melos, along with Nick Reinhart at Nathan Latona. He was featured in Modern Drummer, and is known for his technically brilliant and complex drum style. Apart from working in the pre-alpha stages of a new Tera Melos full length, John is currently on a short tour performing solo.
