Arendalsuka is over for this year!
We are excited to share with our beloved listners our engaging debate at Arendalsuka through our podcast.
The Nordic countries are renowned for their pristine nature and pure water, with Cleantech being a cornerstone of our societies. By combining advanced technology with effective water management, the Nordics have managed to maintain and restore some of the world's finest water resources.
This year's debate centered on the topic: "India: The Potential of Recycling Water and Waste – Myth and Reality in Achieving a Circular Economy."
Our goal was to explore and develop sustainable solutions for India’s water challenges by leveraging both Indian and Nordic knowledge and technology. We were fortunate to have an exceptional lineup of speakers and panelists who shared their insights and expertise on this critical topic.
We also focused on Indo-Norwegian cooperation projects, particularly in waste management – an area ripe for conversation.
Here are some of the key questions we explored:
1. What are India's ambitions within the circular economy, specifically in the waste and water sectors?
2. How do existing regulations and other policy instruments help bring India closer to achieving these ambitions, and are there areas that need adjustment?
3. How do we see Indo-Norwegian cooperation projects helping to advance India’s innovation and ambitions?
We look forward to continuing this important dialogue and exploring how we can work together to create sustainable solutions! -

As we approach 8 March, we're excited to shed light on the journey of Kristin Andresen and the inspiration behind her remarkable initiative, Sunder Rang.
At the World Economic Forum, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani emphasized the need to normalize conversations around women's challenges. India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has made significant strides with the construction of 110 million toilets. Additionally, for the first time in our nation's history, there's a dedicated administrative protocol for menstrual hygiene management established by the central government.
Gender equality remains one of the greatest human rights challenges of our time. Investing in women isn't just a moral imperative; it's a fundamental step towards building inclusive societies. Progress for women benefits us all.

This session focused on two key aspects: cities and the unique offerings of individual Nordic countries towards the Indian market. 2 rooms had to be set up to give space to the audience present at the Indo-Nordic Cooperation session.
It was an overwhelming and humbling experience to be part of this mega event. The credit goes to PHD Chamber of Commerce and industry, Sturle Harald Pedersen and my partner in crime Knut Linnerud.
Over 50 selskaper møtte Sadhguru på Stortinget. Flott at Kompass NRK lager en egen sending Sadhgurus besøk til Norge.
Hør på samtalen mellom Pål Plassen og Rina Sunder.

We in Norway know the worth of having what we want! We got proof of that when Sadhguru visited Norway in June this year.
We knew for a while that we were going to have a great visit from India. We almost also knew the time, but not whether this visit actually came to fruition. The final date and confirmation only came six days before the visit started.
Over 50 companies met Sadhguru at the Storting. Great that Kompass NRK is making a separate broadcast of Sadhguru's visit to Norway.

On one side we are screaming after talent on the other we have exceptional internationals not being fully utilised.
In a recent statement by Hans Christian Holte Director of NAV states we are lacking 53 000 employees in different industries today.

Recruiting from international borders is one thing but how to include them in our society is another.
How can we make sure Norway is rigged up for welcoming internationals?
Does our own biases prevent us from hiring from the broader talent pool?
Get answers to your queries regarding recruitment of international talents in this episode where Jyoti Sohan-David, Co-founder & COO of Umbrella makes her debut on The Modern India Podcast by hosting Øystein E. Søreide, CEO of Abelia. -

Our built environment is also one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and drives a significant amount of air pollution in our cities.
The ‘Clean Construction’ approach promotes the reduction of air pollutants from construction activities. The Government of India launched the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), in 2019, that aims to reduce air pollution levels by 20-30% by 2024.
In this episode we have invited a guest who represents the private sector: Kristin Sæterøy. She has hands on knowledge on clean construction.Kristin Sæterøy is the Managing Director of Aneo Build.

OSLO-the first city in the world that began with the first zero-emission urban
construction by using only electrified construction equipment. Oslo is also leading the Clean Construction Forum @ C40.
New C40 research reveals that fossil gas use contributed almost as much as coal power plants to premature deaths in 2020 and current NDCs would result in 776,000 more premature deaths in C40 cities by 2050, compared to a 1.5oC scenario. In contradiction with their own inadequate NDCs, key nations are undertaking a gas expansion that will add 86% to gas use capacity in and around C40 cities by 2035, while a 1.5oC scenario would require a 30% decrease.
While in the seven years since world leaders signed the Paris Agreement, no nation has developed 1.5°C-compatible plans, 62 C40 cities have done so, with more in the works.
Three quarters of C40 cities are reducing emissions faster than their respective nation states. Thanks to the work of cities around the world, air pollution is down 5%.
In this episode, we have with us Andre Aasrud, Senior advisor for the C40 Clean Construction Programme.
