Episodes

  • In celebration of MonteSong, Montenegro's national final happening on November 27th, the Eurovangelists are going through every song Montenegro's ever sent to the ESC over the decades they've been participants. A very broad collection of styles and performers await you as we discuss what Montenegro should keep in mind when voting for their entry at the end of the month. Jeremy's back with another signature Rock Rant, Dimitry does some deep Space "exploration," Oscar can't believe his family podcast is being scandalized with these lyrics.

  • The Eurovangelists have arrived at the final week of their series on each host's picks for the best songs for introducing Eurovision to new viewers, or older viewers who might want to know what we would pick. This week, we're joined by Mike Cabellon (Mr. Mayor, TV Chef Fantasy League) as we listen to Jeremy's offbeat selections for the eight songs he likes and what makes them worth picking. Jeremy wants America to get into Dutch R&B, Dimitry has the info for the train, Mike can't believe a classic is in third, and Oscar, well, just call him Lady Bump.

This week, we're joined by Vic Michaelis (Dropout, Upload) as we listen to Oscar's picks for the eight songs he picks from the different decades of ESC and what makes them worth picking. Jeremy's grooving to that Turkish sound, Dimitry likes a song from 2009 that's not Fairytale, Vic finds the podcast in each song, and Oscar builds his playlist in slo-mo.

First up is Dimitry, who's got eight songs from all different eras of the contest and a little background on why they're so important to him. • After listening to last week's recap of ESC 1989, the Eurovangelists are more hyped than ever for this week's guest: Emilija Kokić of Riva, the winner of Eurovision 1989! We talk with Emilija about how she got into music, her friendship with the composer Rajko Dujmić, and whether she'll be able to teach Dimitry how to sing. Jeremy wants to know about the lecture, Dimitry wonders if he can see the colors, Oscar needs the origin story, and Emilija's on Team Ray, believe it or not.

  • It's time for a trip back to Lausanne, Switzerland, when Eurovision boasted an extremely 80s vibe both visually and aurally. There's lots of good songs from this year, despite a preponderance of bald men with long ponytails. Jeremy's penning his own John Hughes screenplay, Dimitry thinks it's a shame about Ray, and Oscar's found the official Mom Song of 1989.

  • The boys are joined by comedian and Eurovision lover Lauren Holt to talk about their favorite Eurovision deep cuts that you might not want to mention in a crowd of ESC fans. The case is made for a wide array of songs from all different eras of Eurovision, and we feature a few fan picks as well. Jeremy might be joining the Collective, Dimitry finally understands the significance of butterflies, Lauren's found the source of the Waterline, and Oscar will not stand for these Rendez-boos.

  • Last week, we celebrated artists who returned to Eurovision to greater glory, but this week, we look at artists who came back to sadly a worse result (sometimes more than once). Let this be a lesson to any ESC artist who's considering a return in 2025: it's not always worth it. Jeremy's had it up to here with the scatting, Oscar goes to bat for the double-double, and Dimitry's hungry for some Fud.

  • Achieving victory in the Eurovision Song Contest takes luck as well as skill, and the competitors in this week's episode didn't luck on their side the first time. But all of them came back bigger and better for their second (or third or fourth!) time in Eurovision, so we're taking this episode to give them their due. Jeremy is not feeling these musical weirdos, Dimitry's over the moon for all these legendary Scandinavians, and Oscar proves his devotion to Mary Magdalene.

  • The Eurovangelists advise caution to JoJo Siwa as she courts the possibility of becoming the Polish entry in 2025's ESC, because famous participants from the US in the Eurovision haven't fared... great. We revisit some of the biggest names to ever take part in Eurovision, and most of them finished bottom of the pack. Jeremy's had it up to here with all the scatting, Dimitry's holding out for a hero, and Oscar could've done without Madame X.

  • It was promised in our last Postcard Party, and now it's arrived: an episode-long answer for a great listener question about how the disabled can enjoy Eurovision, and the many performers with disabilities over the years at Eurovision. While things are better than ever for Eurovision accessibility, we also point out a few ways that Basel could do an even better job. Jeremy's gone scat-mad, Oscar's crushing hard on his little angel, and Dimitry learns the surprising nickname of a Swiss soul singer.

  • Dimitry noticed that the four semi-final teams in the Euro Cup final were the same as the four countries that won Eurovision almost exactly 55 years later! Coincidence? We think not. The boys are joined by the incredible fun and funny Lennon Parham to finally settle the tie and decide who should reign supreme for 1969. Jeremy's worried for Jean Jacques' social life, Lennon thinks the subjects of songs deserve more credit, Dimitry's working his young uncle game as usual, and Oscar roots for the villain of 1969.

Rachel Smith joins the trio as we discuss the best (and worst) songs from this year's class of Eurovision artists they've released since their trip to Malmö. • It's hard enough to make it the big stage at the Eurovision Song Contest - in fact it's so hard, even some songs that were selected to go never actually make it there. So here's a few that didn't quite finish the race and the reasons behind their sudden disappearances. Jeremy's seeing the surprising logic in fascist dad rock, Dimitry confesses a Eurovision crush, and Oscar left his necklace at the Moscow Airport.

  • The time has come to dive deep on the most iconic ESC artist of all time, the first two time winner of Eurovision, both as a performer and a songwriter: Johnny Logan. We're joined by Frank, the president of OGAE Ireland, to add the Irish perspective on Ireland's favorite son, at least when it comes to Eurovision. Jeremy's thinking about becoming electric, Dimitry's dreaming of Angelina, Frank suggests having a manager for every member of the entourage, and Oscar's just staring into those teary blue eyes.

We highly recommend watching Johnny (and Linda's) performances on our YouTube playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ9ZVEBuvgI&list=PLd2EbKTi9fyUKPTQlVb07QTI8evcQw_dX&index=1
