The holidays are awesome, no doubt about it. There's more freedom, time to relax, parties galore, mouthwatering dishes, and, of course, drinks!

In your 40s, conceiving can be undeniably more challenging, but seeking early support is key. Whilst it isn't impossible, it is important to have healthy expectations and a plan in place!
In this episode, I'll talk about modifiable factors when it comes to fertility (because we can't change our age!) and the importance of a support team, including mental health professionals, nutrition experts, and a reliable doctor. Here’s what I mentioned in the episode:

Did you know that in 2020, more than half of the first-time mums were in their 30s? This is a far cry from 15% before 1981, 23% in 1991, an even higher than just over 10 years ago in 2011, where 43% of first time mums were in their 30s. Factors like education, careers, finances, relationships, and housing markets (looking at you, Sydney!) contribute to this trend.
But, here's the kicker – our biology couldn't care less about all that.
As fertility rates gradually decline with age, it's crucial to understand fertility in your 30s. So, in today's episode, I dive into the top tips to prepare your body for pregnancy in your 30s. We're diving into stats, facts, modifiable factors, and of course, some nutrition foundations to fuel your exciting baby-making journey. Here’s what I mentioned in the episode:

Welcome back to Fertility Friendly Food, the Podcast! In this episode, we revisit the topic of Hypothalamic Amenorrhea (HA) with our special guest, Accredited Exercise Physiologist and health coach, Sarah King. If you missed our previous episode with Sarah on HA, we've linked it in the show notes for you.
You can find Sarah on Instagram at @sarahlizking or visit her website for more info on her work in this space.
Hypothalamic amenorrhea (HA) is responsible for around 30% of cases of secondary amenorrhea in women of reproductive age.
In this episode, we delve into the topic of HA, clarifying what it is and dispelling common myths, like the misconception that it only affects individuals in smaller bodies or with eating disorders.
At The Dietologist, we often see people with HA struggle to seek support because the solutions seem simple in theory: eat more, move less, and manage stress. However, we explore the complexities and barriers people face when trying to implement these changes, which can be rooted in body image issues, diet culture, eating disorders, habits, and fear of weight gain.
Sarah shares practical strategies that have worked well for her clients in each aspect of HA management: nutrition, exercise, and stress.
To book a session with The Dietologist team for a personalised approach to managing HA and supporting your fertility, head here.Want to keep listening? Here are some more great related episodes:

This episode discusses a personal story. Every fertility story is different and unique. Please don't compare your own journey to our guest's story today and seek a professional health care team to support you on your own journey.
This week, we're absolutely thrilled to introduce our special community guest on the podcast - Sarah @ceomumma on Instagram and founder of @mummyandh, a solo mum to the adorable two-year-old, Hartley. This episode is all about her incredible journey as a solo mumma by choice, finding out she had Type 2 Diabetes right before her IUI and navigating PCOS, and then navigating the road through to IVF and beyond!
Sarah's journey paints a vivid picture of the emotional peaks and valleys, the waiting, and the unexpected twists and turns that often accompany the fertility journey. It's been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride, and many of us can relate to that.
But here's the bright side that we'll delve into: The importance of building a strong support network, making small and doable lifestyle changes, finding the right healthcare team to offer guidance, and making informed decisions about nutrition. These factors can really make a positive impact on your journey, nudging you a step closer to turning your dream of adding a new member to your family into reality.
A heartfelt thank you to Sarah for joining us on the podcast and sharing your story with such openness and vulnerability. We believe that many people will relate to and find inspiration in your journey.

Ever wondered if your fertility concerns may be inherited by your child? A question I personally get semi-regularly in our virtual clinic at The Dietologist.
We're thrilled to welcome back Lucy Lines, the Embryologist and Fertility Educator behind Two Lines Fertility, for her second appearance on the show. Get ready for more eye-opening insights from Lucy as she shares her expertise once again.
We explore the contrasts between women's fertility in the 1980s and the present day, attributable to the escalating presence of endocrine-disrupting chemicals.
We discuss common products that we and our children come into contact with, often oblivious to their potential impacts on fertility.
No matter your fertility status, this podcast is meant for everyone. After all, the WHO strongly advocates for enhancing pre-conception health, given its far-reaching impact that extends across generations.

Ditching meat and animal products is nothing all that new. But in the past few decades, there is an ever-increasing number of people choosing to go vegan, vegetarian or plant-based whether it be for religion, animal welfare, environmental & sustainability or health-related reasons.
A common question we are asked here at The Dietologist is: A vegan or vegetarian diet helpful or harmful when it comes to fertility health?
In this episode, I break down the pros and cons of vegan & vegetarian diets and how they can impact fertility.
We'll chat about all the ways these diets champion the one group of foods most of us could absolutely be eating more of, plants! But, clinically, we also see a lot of downsides too, nutrient gaps, gut symptoms and IBS and more.
So, if you're curious about how going vegan, vegetarian, or plant-based might affect your journey to parenthood, this is the episode for you!

This episode discusses a personal story. Every fertility story is different and unique. Please don't compare your own journey to our guest's story today and seek a professional health care team to support you on your own journey.
This week we are so excited to have another community guest on the podcast. Emma, a mum of two, joins us, and today we delve into her story and experiences with secondary infertility, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and her preconception journey.
Emma's story highlighted the emotional rollercoaster of expectations, disappointments, and the difficulty of waiting in the fertility journey. We'll emphasize the importance of support, lifestyle changes, and guided nutrition in overcoming these challenges and achieving the goal of building a family. We'll explore what initially attracted her to Fertility360, our online course, and why she decided to take further action.
A heartfelt shoutout to Emma for being an incredible guest on our podcast. Thank you so much for being so open and vulnerable in sharing your story. It takes a lot of courage, and we really admire that.
