We’re taking a short break from Marilyn to bring you a very special episode! Oppenheimer is out and we want to shamelessly capitalize on the hype! 1947 - 2 years after the actual bombs dropped - 76 years before Christopher Nolan would nuke the world with “Oppenheimer” - a film called “The Beginning or the End” was unleashed upon the world. A collaboration between MGM and the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project, along with the guidance of the men who actually worked on the Manhattan Project including Oppenheimer himself, this film is presented in a docudrama style and unfolds the story of the development and deployment of the atomic bomb! So put on your special goggles, hold a bag of uncooked popcorn in the air, and prepare to become death - the destroyer of worlds! On this very special intermission episode of FILM HISTORY: THE HISTORY OF FILM!

We are very excited to bring you this one! An actress who became a historic cultural icon whose influence rivals society’s most prominent figures. Marilyn Monroe was not always Marilyn Monroe. She was born Norma Jean Desmond, and that is who we’re going to tell you about in part 1 of her saga. Before we can really dive into Marilyn’s life, we felt it important to tell you about her mother Gladys, so in this episode, we do just that, the glitz and glamour of Marilyn all began in a cramped LA apartment with her very troubled mother Gladys. We here at FHHF thought it was about damn time we cover someone in film history that wasn’t a dude! Who better to bring the feminine energy we needed for this show than the original “It Girl” herself: Clara Bow!
One of the biggest stars of the silent era who paved the way for women in Hollywood.
Clara owned her sexuality before the Code was put in place and rocked the world as the first sex symbol.
In this first part of her saga we cover her early life, and it was certainly a dark time for young Clara.
Warning, we will be covering some nasty topics such as "SA" and more.
Gather the family around the radio, pour a glass of something, and listen to us tell her story right here on FILM HISTORY: THE HISTORY OF FILM
