In this session, Geshe Sonam guides a meditation on the nature and potential of the mind . Although this is not traditionally part of the Lam Rim outlines, understanding a little bit about our mind and its nature is an excellent preliminary contemplation for our Lam Rim/Stages of the path practice.
Geshe la gives an introduction, leads a short visualization meditation to settle the mind, and then gives impulses for meditation on the mind's fundamental nature.

All the teachings are for the sake of arising wisdom
All these branch [practices] were taught
By the mighty one for the sake of wisdom
Therefore those who wish to pacify suffering
Should generate this wisdom.

From Āryadeva's Four Hundred Verses:
As tactile sense [pervades] the body
Confusion is present in all places
By overcoming confusion (ignorance) one also
Overcomes all the afflictive emotions.

In this teaching, Geshe Sonam explains, using a verse by Arya Nagarjuna from the text 'Precious Garland of the Middle Way', on the three causes of Complete Enlightenment or Buddhahood. Geshe la teaches in Tibetan and his teachings are translated by Venerable Khedrup.
The Three Causes of Enlightenment
Oneself and [others] of this world,
If they wish to attain the unsurpassed enlightenment:
Its roots are bodhicitta,
Firm like the King of Mountains,
Compassion reaching all directions,
And wisdom not relying on duality.

In this teaching Geshe Sonam explains the potential of all sentient beings to achieve Enlightenment which is known as the Tathagata Garbha or Buddha Nature (Buddha Essence). Geshe la explains how due to this potentiality, all sentient beings can achieve full Enlightenment.
All Sentient Beings Possess Buddha Nature
From the Uttaratantra Shastra (Sublime Continuum)
Because a perfect Buddha's body (enlightened qualities) are pervasive,
Because suchness is without differentiation,
And because Buddha lineage exists,
All embodied beings are always in possession of a Buddha essence.
