Our friend Jacob from Oklahoma Fungi returns to the show! He has the big OK MushFest coming up on October 12th and 13th, where GrowCast will be appearing! Our good friend Miles from WeedShouldTasteGood returns to the program for a long awaited second appearance! Miles gives us an update on all his amazing travels over the past year or so, and promotes an upcoming Build a Soil Days event at the BAS headquarters in November (which GC plans to attend). Miles shares his breeding philosophy with us, and talks about how his goals and values as a breeder have evolved over the years. He talks about his new Mesa 2.0 line and all the work he's done with that cross. He also expands on his landrace work, and speaks on the differences between the genepools that he's been fortunate enough to tap into. Miles goes on to discuss plant ferments with us- specifically highlighting some of his favorite plants to incorporate like comfrey. Dr. Coco returns to the show after a long hiatus- and boy does he have some great stories to tell! Coco catches us up on his recent travels, and his consult work with large scale commercial operations. He tells a story of a client who was dealing with sick plants, and the diagnosis rabbit hole leads down a variety of educational topics. First Dr. Coco discusses the importance of oxygen in water, and how many growers aren't incorporating oxygen into their feed even though they should be- even if it's just a simple shake of the watering can. He also talks about water temperature and why cool water holds more oxygen than hot water. The goose chase then led Coco to discover what appeared to be rice root aphids in the medium- this transitions into a discussion about biological applications, and translating the often obscure application rates to something that makes sense in a canna grow environment.

Today we have a first time guest on the podcast side- Aaron of ATG Acres joins us for an episode about his journey from legacy to legal, organic commercial cannabis production, and more! Aaron tells his story of growing up cultivating and how he moved around and crafted his style in order to survive legalization as a craft farmer. This leads to a discussion about his living soil oriented grow style, and how Aaron views the end of the cannabis plant's life cycle in particular. Aaron shares his pre harvest strategies, as well as a step by step walk through of his actual harvest and hang dry process. He puts an emphasis on lowering temperatures during his very particular drying and curing parameters, and making up for the slower dry time with a pre harvest dryback. Aaron also extrapolates on curing and storage- as well as gives some rapid fire strain breakdowns from cultivars currently running on his farm.
