Spiritually speaking, Lynn was raised as a devout Catholic, before her family later transitioned into a more Charismatic-leaning Christian church.
As an adult, however, Lynn realized that (despite her actions and intentions growing up) she has actually been a non-believer for over 20 years. She has also been bi-sexual as well.
Lynn is currently a lawyer-turned-freelance-editor who edits books, articles, screenplays, and everything in between. She is also a writer, and recently published a Bible fan fiction novel called “The Prophet Steven.”

Made infamous by documentaries like “Shiny Happy People,” on Amazon Prime (which Lindsey was also featured in), this church was lead by Bill Gothard, a man who somehow convinced, and still convinces, people across the world to live by rules and values he somehow didn’t have to follow himself.
https://youtu.be/lZFazV_SdfU
Lindsey grew up in a religious family that devoutly followed the now-infamous IBLP IBLP organization, or “The Institute in Basic Life Principles.”
In this episode, Lindsey tells us, in detail, her experience being one of the chosen “Gothard Girls,” and how spending time with Bill Gothard one-on-one shaped her young mind, and lead her to the crusade she now leads to spread awareness of his terrible legacy, and destroy the facade of “goodness” and “holiness” he managed to create.

Darante’ Lamar was once the most devoutly religious person in his family.
After finding God, and dedicating his life to being a pastor, he started to realize that even the people at the top of the food chain (who he considered to be mentors himself), still didn’t have all the answers. In fact, they didn’t appear to have very many answers at all.
In his desire to seek guidance and reasoning, he began to uncover things he quickly understood he’d never be able to unsee. He also recognized that his entire life would likely never be the same again.

148 Brett M. considers himself a free-thinking Christian.
He recognizes that in order to hang his hat on a belief system, and claim that he wants to follow a specific faith or religion, he has to feel as though he’s done as much research as he possibly can in order to feel comfortable calling himself a Christian.
In this episode, Brett describes this experience, and how his thoughts and opinions are received by both atheists and Christians alike.

https://youtu.be/FrRgKx1vaGgDanny B. was enrolled in Christian school until the 1st grade, after which he became homeschooled all the way through high school. Throughout this time, Danny was raised to believe that things like bad math skills, and being bullied at church camp, could only be resolved through prayer.
After a tumultuous childhood involving accusations of demonic possession, food being withheld as punishment, and other symptoms of a high-control environment, Danny realized that figuring out who he was outside of religion and control depended on him, and seeking help from outside sources to unravel his past, and pave the way for his future.

Kyle Lett attended a Baptist church with his Grandmother until the age of 12, when his father and stepmother decided he needed to attend a Pentecostal church with them.
After years of involving himself in the ministry, Kyle began to recognize that he wasn’t sure he truly agreed with everything he was helping preach, or even believed it himself.
Now an “agnostic who still sometimes struggles with the idea of an afterlife,” Kyle shares his thoughts and feelings on coming to your own conclusions, trusting your gut, and questioning everything you’re told.

Rich grew up in a Baptist household in California.Despite his devout upbringing, and attending church multiple times each week, he began to see the cracks in the lessons being taught by the church, vs the choices they were showing him through their actions.
After specific events that caused even his parents to finally leave their congregation, he realized he not only didn’t want to go to church anymore, but he wasn’t even sure he believed in the teachings of the bible.
In this episode, Rich walks us through his deconstruction journey, and what he has experienced in the years since finally identifying as an “atheist.”

At one time, James Aames led worship at a megachurch, held Bible studies, gave sermons, witnessed on the streets, went on mission trips, and never missed his daily devotional regimen. He walked the walk and talked the talk. But forcing his faith didn’t work for him, and he was soon miserable.
At 33 years old, he finally called it quits.
Since then he’s been writing, reading, thinking, and healing.
In an effort to right the wrongs he feels that he’s done to so many people through his ministries, he’s written "How to Become a non-Christian,” a book that provides instructions for how to leave your faith.

Hunter wasn't always a member of the Eastern Orthodox church. In fact, he was quite the opposite! However, as a young religious pre-teen, Hunter found himself looking for a place of worship that he felt was more serious, and less of the concerts he felt modern Non Denominational churches had become.
In this episode, Hunter shares with us how he went from considering life in a monestary, to being an active and outspoken atheist on platforms all across the internet.
