We sit down with Dr Daniel Susskind to discuss how we should be focusing on education in times of AI and a fast changing workplace. How can we prepare ourselves for the jobs of the future? What lies ahead?
“I don’t think there’s going to be a some sudden technological big bang after which suddenly everyone finds themselves without work,” Susskind says. “What I worry about is a more gradual problem, that as we move through the 21st century more and more people are going to find themselves unable to do the sorts of work that has to be done.”
Daniel Susskind explores the impact of technology, andparticularly AI, on work and society, about which he has written a number of books. He spoke to John Beauchamp during the first edition of Holistic Talk at Cavatina Hall in Bielsko-Biała back in February 2024.

In the latest episode of Holistic Podcasts, Professor Joanna Trzeciak Huss from Kent State University talks about slow translation, the need to acknowledge collaboration, and how ‘untranslatability’ is ‘unhelpful’.
“I don’t think that untranslatability is a helpful concept – it should have died long ago,” she underlines.
“I’m moving away from the notion of achievement of an individual translator to acknowledging translation as a collaborative effort. I rely on dictionaries that were compiled through the enormous effort of many individuals, over many years, and in my case over many centuries,” says Trzeciak Huss on how translation is not the work of a sole individual.

In this episode of Holistic Podcasts, we speak to Dr Marta Michalska, a researcher on sonic history, on how we perceive sound and how our quest for ‘silence’ is in fact futile.
We often try to escape “noise” and strive for quieter places – where we can think, relax, be with nature. But we very often realize that the silence we seek is not in fact silence at all.
