In today's solo episode, I'm stepping back behind the mic on my own to share some insights that struck me while re-reading Napoleon Hill's ‘Think and Grow Rich.’
I explore the fascinating concept that success and failure actually have something quite profound in common - they're both largely the results of habit. It's such a simple yet powerful realisation that different types of habits will lead us toward success, while others can quietly steer us toward failure.
Throughout the episode, I share practical examples of small habit changes that can create big shifts - from ditching the snooze button (including Hal Elrod's clever alarm clock trick!) to being more mindful about our phone habits and adding more movement to our day; these seemingly small changes can compound over time to create significant results.
I'll be honest - I feel a bit awkward sharing habit advice because I certainly don't have everything figured out! But that's exactly why regular reflection is so important, and why I also mention some free resources on my website including a simple habit tracker.
So whether you're looking to make gentle shifts in your daily routine, or you're ready to be braver about changing habits that aren't serving you, this episode offers compassionate guidance for taking it one small step at a time.
Enjoy the show!

In today's episode, I chat with Juliet Goodwin, a nutritional therapist who brings a unique perspective to health and wellbeing, combining her background as an NHS nurse with her expertise in holistic nutrition and emotional healing techniques.
Juliet shares her inspiring journey of transitioning from nursing into nutritional therapy, all while juggling the demands of working and bringing up a young family. What sets Juliet apart is her 'whole person' approach to identifying the causes of illness and stress - describing herself as 'a health detective,' looking at aspects such as her clients' life timeline, the body's systems and the kinds of psychological elements that can impact wellbeing.
One of the fascinating aspects of Juliet's practice is her integration of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) tapping into her offerings. She explains what it is, how it works, and why it's so effective as a means of de-stressing – and even how it helped her pass her driving test!
We explore the concept of 'midlife awakening'—a particularly relevant topic for women who have often spent years putting everyone else first by default. This was particularly interesting in the context of menopause and perimenopause, and how these transitions can be conveyed as wholly negative experiences; yet she presents them as powerful opportunities—a perspective that feels both refreshing and empowering.
So whether you're navigating midlife transitions, looking to take a more holistic approach to your health, or simply ready to make yourself more of a priority, Juliet's compassionate insights and practical wisdom offer a roadmap to reclaiming your identity and wellbeing.

In today's episode, I chat with the wonderful Feola McCandlish, who shares her inspiring journey as a Daisy First Aid franchisee. Feola opens up about her transition from a demanding career in graphic design and marketing to finding a business model that allowed her to balance work with family life.
In our conversation, Feola explains how she struggled to return to a traditional workplace after having her first child, feeling torn between her career and desire to be present for her children; an all too familiar dilemma for so many of us! After investigating various options, she discovered Daisy First Aid—a franchise teaching life-saving first aid skills to parents, schools, and businesses—which and this proved to be a perfect fit for her circumstances.
Perhaps what struck me most in our conversation, was Feola's profound personal transformation. She reveals how stepping far outside her comfort zone—particularly in overcoming her fear of public speaking—has built her confidence in ways she could never have imagined.
We also explore the benefits of the franchise model, and how it can provide autonomy of business ownership alongside the support of an established community, as well as the flexibility that allows being fully present as a mother.
So whether you're considering a career change, looking for flexible work options, or simply interested in the franchising model, Feola's journey story offers valuable insights about finding fulfilment through purposeful work that truly accommodates your personal priorities too.

In today's episode, I’m thrilled to present my conversation with psychotherapist, author and speaker Anna Mathur. I’ve had the pleasure to know Anna since I wrote a poem for her book The Uncomfortable Truth and she asked me to read it at her book signing event, so I’m overjoyed to welcome her to the podcast to discuss her journey, her learnings, and that wonderful book ‘The Uncomfortable Truth.’
Over the course of this episode, we cover everything from her uni days, to her journey into psychotherapy, her refreshingly fluid approach to career planning, as well as exploring how we can apply the notion that what really matters is living in alignment with the things that set our hearts on fire. I’m SO on board!
I was truly honoured that Anna reflected with incredible honesty about her experience of motherhood, and amongst other things, how making a difference to others became a source of positivity at a time when she was otherwise struggling, giving her a sense of identity and purpose that was all too elusive at the time.
In discussing ‘The Uncomfortable Truth,’ I particularly enjoy her take on failure, and the premise that it is so vital a process for all of us, making it so important that we learn to embrace it; we explore why failure feels so personal, and how much the fear of failure is actually about what other people think, yet we also discuss techniques and mindsets to help channel and overcome it.
If you’re looking for something to inspire you this week, I urge you to pop this episode on, and immersed yourself in Anna’s wisdom. You’ll be so greatful that you did!
Enjoy the show!

In today's episode, I chat with the inspirational Julie Smith, a highly sought-after executive coach, the founder of Talent Sprout, and author of the award-winning book "Coach Yourself Confident."
Julie shares her fascinating journey from a corporate career in HR, to becoming an expert in the field of self-confidence. She opens up about her own personal confidence journey with all of its ups and downs, as well as sharing that confidence isn't a constant state but rather contextual to specific situations - a realization that can help us all be kinder to ourselves.
We delve into Julie's powerful concept of a "self-doubt tax" - the hidden costs we pay when a lack of confidence leads to missed opportunities or exhaustion from overcompensating with impossibly high standards. She reveals how setting reasonable goals and expectations for ourselves can be transformative, and identifies the "confidence saboteurs" that can erode our self-belief when we least expect it.
I was particularly struck by Julie's approach to understanding our ‘inner critic’ as a sort of well-intentioned but overly cautious protection mechanism; She shares practical strategies, to help create distance between ourselves and those self-doubting thoughts.
So whether you're navigating a career transition, facing new challenges, or simply want to quiet that nagging voice of self-doubt, Julie's practical wisdom and compassionate approach provide a roadmap to authentic confidence that works in real-world situations.

In today's episode, I sit down with author Kathleen Whyman, who shares her inspiring journey from aspiring journalist to published novelist. Kathleen's story of persistence and self-belief is one that will resonate with anyone pursuing creative dreams alongside life's other demands.
We cover everything from how she started out, to how she writes, and manages to balance her career with the rest of life’s commitments. Kathleen opens up about writing her first book during pregnancy - a manuscript she initially felt wasn't good enough for publication but that taught her the invaluable lesson that she could indeed finish writing a book. She reveals the fascinating story behind her inspiration and the seven-year journey from enrolling on a writing course to finally seeing it in print.
What stands out in our conversation is Kathleen's unwavering determination. Despite setbacks, she maintained an absolute belief that her book deserved to be published, a mindset that ultimately led to her subsequent success, and multiple book releases
Parents will especially appreciate Kathleen's candid reflections on the balancing act of running a household while pursuing a career as a businesswoman and author - and the guilt that often accompanies these multiple roles. She shares her creative process, including how she crafts her books and revisits drafts to sharpen the humour, and I was touched to learn that one of my own podcast episodes helped inspire Kathleen to push beyond her comfort zone! We also discuss the power of networking, particularly how connecting with other women has opened doors and helped her reach her target audience.
So whether you're an aspiring creative, a parent juggling multiple responsibilities, or simply someone working toward a long-held dream, Kathleen's practical wisdom and honest reflections offer both inspiration and insight alike, alongside her constant trademark humour! Enjoy the show!

In today's episode, I chat with over-40s fitness guru Cara Metz, a truly remarkable woman who's transformed her life by understanding that real health goes far beyond physical movement.
Cara's journey is a powerful testament to the importance of mindset, self-compassion, and holistic wellness - and how sometimes, the most significant changes can start with just fifteen minutes a day.
We discuss her childhood as a high achieving dancer, and how her path wasn't a straightforward success story, as she candidly shares the challenges she faced. We reflect upon how she uncovered a profound truth, and how this moment of clarity sparked a transformative journey of understanding about nurturing your entire being - body, heart, and soul. It was to become a lifelong passion.
Now as an inspiring fitness and wellbeing instructor with an astounding following, Cara's philosophy is beautifully simple yet profound: we need to become the woman we were meant to be, not the woman that life's challenges have diminished. This mindset has allowed her to develop her powerful 15-minutes-a-day principle, which also forms the foundation of her book, "The Menopause Metabolism Fix".
So, whether you're struggling with health challenges, looking to reframe your approach to wellness, or simply need inspiration to make meaningful life changes, Cara's story offers a refreshing and empowering perspective.
Cara is going to be joining me live as guest speaker at my Epsom networking event on Wednesday 7th May – book your ticket today via the link below.

In today's episode, guest Tamsyn Jefferson, founder of Seed Accounting, shares her entrepreneurial journey and the valuable insights she's gained along the way. Tamsyn shares so much valuable and practical wisdom for small business owners, especially around financial management; she also explains why employing an accountant can be a game-changer for your business, and about her bold decision to hire staff earlier than planned—a move that proved to be the right call, despite initial hesitation.
We also delve into the personal challenges Tamsyn has overcome, as she openly discusses how she built her business whilst navigating the challenges of motherhood and going through a divorce, as well as how she balances her professional commitments with being present for her children.
I love the guiding principle that Tamsyn shares; that ‘you should never look back other than to see how far you've come;’ a powerful reminder for all of us to be kinder to ourselves on our entrepreneurial journeys.
So whether you're just starting out, or looking to improve your business practices, Tamsyn's practical advice and honest reflections offer invaluable guidance for the road ahead. Enjoy the show!

In today's episode, I sit down with Hannah Isted, the amazing founder of HI Communications! Hannah is such an inspiration - she's built an incredible business that's absolutely powered by her infectious passion and energy, all while working around her health needs. Her story really shows how you can create success on your own terms and build something that fits YOUR life (not the other way around!).
We dive into plenty in this episode, from the benefits of starting a business when you're young, to how important it is to have people in your corner who get just as excited about your business wins as you do! Hannah opens up about how channelling all her enthusiasm into those early days helped her grow her client list like crazy, and how she deliberately crafted a business that works WITH her Crohn's disease, not against it.
She shares this fantastic concept she calls "big fish energy" (I love this!) and the magic that happens when you actually speak your dreams out loud. And for anyone feeling totally swamped by marketing (we've all been there!), Hannah's ten-minute marketing tips are absolute gold. She's all about "done is better than perfect" - such a refreshing approach! Plus, her strategies for recycling social media content will save you tons of time and stress. No more reinventing the wheel with every post!
Whether you're looking to infuse your business with your own unique spark, juggling health challenges while chasing your dreams, or just need some no-nonsense marketing advice that actually works in real life - this conversation with Hannah is packed with wisdom from someone who's walking the talk. Enjoy the show!

In this solo episode, I challenge conventional wisdom about networking and business events with a simple message: sometimes, going alone is the best strategy for success!
Drawing from my own experiences, I explore why the comfort of bringing a friend to business events might actually be holding you back from meaningful connections and opportunities. While it may feel counter-intuitive, I make the case for stepping out of your comfort zone, and into the realm of solo networking.
Don’t worry, this isn't about abandoning friendships – far from it. Instead, it's about recognizing when our natural inclination to stick with familiar faces might be limiting our professional growth and networking potential. So I include some practical insights on how to approach solo networking with confidence, turning what might feel like a challenging situation into an opportunity for personal and professional development. Drawing from real life examples, I share how choosing to attend events alone has transformed my networking journey and even enabled some of the closest and most connected relationships I cherish to this day - relationships that almost certainly wouldn't have blossomed had I stayed in my comfort zone.
So whether you're a seasoned networker looking to enhance your approach or someone who finds business events intimidating, this episode offers a fresh perspective on how going it alone might be the key to unlocking your networking potential.
So get ready to challenge your assumptions and discover the hidden advantages of flying solo!

Today's episode dives deep into the power of self-compassion and redefining success, with Kim Stokes, owner and coach at Kindness For Success. With a varied and interesting background in corporate HR, Kim brings a unique perspective on navigating career transitions and personal growth, but crucially, with the focus upon self-kindness.
In this heartfelt conversation, we explore Kim's journey from corporate life through redundancy to launching her own business. She shares candidly about handling the emotional upheaval that comes with unexpected career changes, and how she transformed that challenge into an opportunity for reinvention.
One of the most powerful themes we explore is Kim's approach to success - it's not about "having it all," but rather defining what "your all" looks like. This perspective helps break free from the perfectionism trap that leaves so many feeling like they're falling short.
With remarkable openness, Kim shares her own experiences with anxiety and mental health, including her creative approach to managing her inner critic (whom she's named ‘Gertrude!’). Please note that this episode includes discussion of mental health and suicide awareness, including Kim's charitable work for the Mind charity.
So whether you're navigating a career transition, building a business, or simply seeking a more compassionate approach to success, Kim's insights and practical wisdom will inspire you to embrace kindness as your superpower. Enjoy the show!

Is your nervous system feeling a little frayed? Do you trust and recognise your feelings? In today’s episode I’m delving even deeper into the practice of Somatic Movement as a means to connect with our physical and emotional wellbeing.
And I’m delighted to welcome Nahid De Belgeonne, Somatic Movement Educator, breath and yoga teacher and author of ‘Soothe – the book your nervous system has been longing for’. Using movement to process and regulate emotions is something that Nahid has practised intuitively throughout her life, and now she specialises in teaching people with burnout, chronic anxiety and trauma issues.
Nahid has lived such a varied life and achieved so much working across some very different business sectors, but Nahid discovered that working hard comes with its own challenges as she found herself floundering on the edges of burnout.
We cover a lot during this discussion including work culture, the need for self-reflection, searching for ‘something else’ in midlife, the complexities and simplicities of the nervous system and how to bring about change.
So, let’s all just take a breath and prepare to get curious as we delve deeper into the body and mind…

This week’s conversation is with scientist turned tutor, and owner of SB Tutoring, Sarah Brouner. Sarah is a multi award winner, including Professional Tutor of the Year 2022, Homeschooling Tutor of the Year 2023 and SEN Tutor of the Year 2024, so you’ll understand when I say that she really knows what she’s doing! But as you’ll find out, there is SO much more to Sarah than her awards; working with children in a range of environments, and whether neurotypical or diverse, Sarah positively impacts her students by creating a lifelong curiosity and love of learning whether mainstream or home schooled, giving children and teens confidence with their learning and opening up their ability to reach their full potential. Her approach is so empathetic, and truly tailored towards the students she is working with, you can’t fail to be inspired! Whether you are considering working with a tutor or indeed becoming one, or you’re a business owner who is looking for someone to look up to, this is the episode for you!
Enjoy the show!
