Ramlogan Sowamber is a trainee at the University of British Columbia in the department of Medical Genetics, working with Dr. David Huntsman on understanding the impacts of opportunistic salpingectomy on ovarian cancer risk reduction from a genomic and molecular perspective. He is interested in understanding how genetics influences the mechanisms of cancer progression using genomic and functional approaches and how therapeutic interventions can be applied to various cancer subtypes.

In this episode of the IJGC podcast, Editor-in-Chief Dr. Pedro Ramirez is joined by Dr. Antonio González-Martín to discuss the results of overall survival in the PRIMA trial. Dr. Antonio González-Martín specializes in the treatment of gynaecological and breast cancer and is the chairman of GEICO (Spanish group for investigation in ovarian and gynaecological cancer). He is also the representative of GEICO in ENGOT (European Network for Gynaecological Oncological Trials), and was the President of this Group for the period 2018-2020. In addition, he is one of the representatives of GEICO in Gynaecologic Cancer InterGroup (GCIG), and has served as chair of the ovarian cancer committee for the period 2014-2020. He is also a member of the board of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM), and a member of GEICAM and SOLTI breast cancer cooperative groups.

Dr. Plante has a major interest in minimally invasive surgical (MIS) approaches in the treatment of gynecologic cancers and in fertility-preserving surgery for young women with cervical cancer. She is currently leading two important international trials the SHAPE trial and the Contessa trial.
