As discussed in our previous episodes we believe AI has some exciting potential, but we also recognise that it is not without its drawbacks. Along with societal concerns, There are also concerns over AI’s power consumption, and its impact on the environment. In this episode, we discuss a range of concerns related to AI development, including sustainability, power consumption, the cult-like atmosphere of the tech world, potential data scarcity, and the implications of AI for copyright and the art world.

In this episode, we dive deep into the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and how it's shaping beyond the field of design, its progression, and possibilities. We are both fully aware that this topic is currently making waves in the news, across social media platforms, and even in discussions with our fellow professionals. We both are genuinely captivated by this fresh development and eager to keep ourselves updated on its progression and to see how it will reshape various industries and eventually lighting design. We will discuss a few essays, articles, and podcast episodes focused on this topic( see links below ). We end the episode by leaving you to ponder on the question of embracing the utopian possibilities of AI or being consumed by its possible concerning effects on our societies. For our first episode we decided to go back to the beginning, the moment when we all decided that lighting design was the path for us to take and ponder on. We interviewed a few architectural lighting students from Wismar since they are at the beginning of their journey and a few fellow lighting designers with several years of practice. We would like to thank our fellow designers: Carlijn Timmermans from C.Light.Wise in the Netherlands, Mahdis Aliasgari from Lighting Design Collective in Madrid and Fanny Perineau from Licht Kunst Licht in Berlin as well as our dedicated Wismar participants Amir Kamyabi from Iran and Yuri Astakhov from Russia. We eagerly invite you, our listeners, to share your own thoughts and perspectives on the matters we've discussed today. If you're interested in participating, please reach out to us via email [email protected], and we'll provide you with our questionnaire. Once we gather enough responses from all of you, we'll record a follow-up episode to delve deeper into the topic and reflect your invaluable insights.
* We're aware of some extra noise in the background. As we continue to evolve and enhance our podcast, your understanding is greatly appreciated.
