Tara is a wonderful soul, and cherished friend. Today we get a peek into her life!
Tara: Born in San Diego, my family moved to the Bay Area when I was a teenager. I grew up with a love for sports and spent my high school years training in Taekwondo. I received a First Degree Black Belt through the American Taekwondo Association and Instructor certification before the age of 18. College is where I took my first yoga class 16 years ago and dived into Eastern philosophy and meditation. After college I engaged in a marketing and events career and took weekends to train at Yoga Tree in San Francisco, earning my yoga teacher certification in the summer of 2016. Soon after that I moved to Portland and gave birth to a free-spirited boy, he continues to be my source of purpose and inspiration. Using my events background, I teach in-person classes, immersions, and workshops in the Portland metro area, as well curated location-based retreats around the world.My passion lies in the depth of the yogic tradition and how to thread ancient philosophy and movement with the modern science of psychology and physiology. I am currently pursuing my second undergraduate degree in psychology and plan to apply it towards a doctorate in neuroscience at OHSU.

Have you ever been walking in the rain, lost in thought, and suddenly a raindrop splashes across the face? This sensation often jolts us into a sense of presence. Within this meditation we explore the sensitivity of the face by placing droplets of water on the face, and turning inwards to explore the sensations that arise from anointing ourselves with the water element.

Today we meditate together using a candle. As we stare into the flame we find the symbology behind candles. As we gain wisdom from staring into the flame, we begin to understand our own internal flame as well. By having an external reference for internal flame (sacral + solar plexus), we are able to see ourselves in a new light.

Today at Native Awakenings, we talk about 3 different ways to meditate. Our first topic deals with concentration, and how harnessing our concentration can lead to manifestation. Our second topic deals with receptivity, and how the expansion of our awareness can help inspire internal creativity. In this episode we embody the vibration of self-acceptance and love, so that we can lead our ancestors to accept this practice as well. We can be teachers to them, as often we judge our mistakes (they do as well). As they see us accept ourselves as we are, it shines a light to release self-judgement for the mistakes that they have made (and trauma that they have undergone). While we call on the ancestors to teach us new things, they call on us to heal the old. This practice helps exchange mutual respect and reverence to the ancestors.

In this episode we explore the technique of remote viewing! By meditating on places that we have been before, we begin to familiarize ourselves with the subconscious images that we store within the consciousness.
