Today you'll hear from Ashley Newell! Ashley, along with her husband and three children, started Stand For Orphans over four years ago. She and her husband Herbie have a heart for reaching the vulnerable, the outcast, and the orphan. While in college at Samford University majoring in Human Development and Family Studies, Ashley started working at a local pregnancy resource center and thoroughly enjoyed ministering to women in unplanned pregnancies. She retired early to stay home with their first child and soon had two more children. Meanwhile, her husband Herbie was called to be the Executive Director of Lifeline Children’s Services, a holistic orphan care ministry headquartered in Birmingham, AL. Ashley loves supporting her husband and the ministry of Lifeline in any way she can. On any given day, you can find Ashley at home teaching her kids, which is something she never thought she would do but now can’t imagine it any other way.

Wrapping up our series on comparison with some special guests- our husbands! We asked them the questions you guys sent in. Come back next week as we kick off our Summer series, all about using your home and loving your neighbors!
-
This week we wrap up the last topic sent in from our listeners regarding comparison. We focus in for a few minutes on comparison and the home. We discussed how to be content where you are with what you have, and how we can love people around us in every season. We also remembered some of the homes that had the greatest impact on us as kids, and what made them unique.
-
This week we are talking about our disdain for Mommy Wars. What opinions should we care about? What should we let go? How can we be a voice of grace rather than discouragement?
We also touch on the pressure we put on our kids, and how our words are going to help form their inner monologue.
-
This week we asked our listeners to tell us their struggles in regards to comparison and family. They came through for us, and we are discussing some of them today.
We hope you will feel encouraged that you aren't alone in your struggles, and that you don't have to live in the pit that comparison can often create. We are continuing to pray for freedom for each of you as you search your hearts to find the areas where comparison has taken hold.
-
This week we are tackling the sticky subject of adult friendships. They can be so hard and messy, but also so meaningful and life giving.
We hope that you will leave this week feeling encouraged to find your people and love them well!
-
We are continuing with our series all about comparison. This week, we are tackling the uncomfortable issue of comparing our beauty and body to others. We hope that you leave this episode encouraged to spend your thoughts, time, and resources on things that hold eternal value!
-
This week we tackle another common area where people tend to struggle with jealousy and comparison- careers.
Whether you are a college student, work full time, or are a stay-at-home mom, we hope we are able to encourage you this week to pursue the specific path God has for you!
This week's challenge: to post what your passions and your dreams. Be sure to use the hashtag #nestledinhim so we can cheer you on!
-
This week we are diving further into the topic of comparison by kicking off a series: Nestled in Him.
Week one is all about marriage! We cover 3 things to remember to help your marriage thrive, and to keep your focus on what matters:
1. WORDS MATTER
2. COMMUNICATION MATTERS
3. COMMUNITY MATTERS
We also kick off our first challenge of the series: Calling out some of the things you see in your spouse that you love. Remember to use the hashtag #nestledinhim for the challenge, and let's all cheer one another on! Also join us over in our Facebook group, Nestled in the Neighborhood.
We are so excited to grow in freedom with each of you over the coming weeks!

Today we are quickly sharing our hearts on something we feel passionate about- comparison, and how it robs us of so much.

Today we are continuing our Holiday talk with a gift guide! For those of us trying to simplify, we have to remember that Christmas isn't a gradual trickle of new things coming into our homes.. it's an avalanche. We want to share our tips for how we stay conscious and intentional.
**If you don't have kids yet, and don't want to listen to the kid gift talk, we move past it at 19:20**
We talk about:
Our method for gifting to our kids Suggestions that you can pass on to family members for your kids (when they ask) A reminder to throw out unused toys/etc as new "stuff" comes in Is it ok to tell people what you actually want/need when they ask you? What are some thoughtful ways to gift to those we love without emptying our bank account?Where to find April and Bayleigh:

Today we are ushering you into the Holiday Season with an episode full of our tips for how to continue living with intentionality. We broke the episode into 3 categories: gathering, feathering, and guarding your nest.
Gathering: We tackle a listener question: what are some staples to keep on hand for drop-in guests? (We may or may not get a little carried away here!) Some encouragement to give yourself a break on the perfection, and really love your people A reminder that an open home normally begins with an invitation, and that we need to seek out the lonely and hurting in our life a little extra this time of year Feathering: One of our biggest Christmas decorating tips: delete first! A few tree decoration tips Guarding:
We tackle an often touchy subject- being careful with accepting or declining an invitation, and a reminder to extend grace to our family and friends who may be in a busy season with their kidsWe also give a shout out to Annie to congratulate her on her new role, and to our new neighbor-friends who may listen to this episode one day. (OR maybe not- we have no idea who actually listens!)
