A privilege this week on #NoSuggestionPod to get to know actor, activist, writer, Bronx native, and improv comedian, Joseph Elijah (@josephiselijah). Co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I were so taken by Joseph's thoughtfulness and experiences, and we got to chat with him about everything from the reboots of Perry Mason and Matlock, how the Bronx doesn't offer itself up, algorithms and echo chambers, Joseph's revelatory experience during the Black Lives Matter protests, Barclays vs Madison Square Garden, going to college in Chicago, meeting Chopper City from Making the Band, Neil DeGrasse Tyson ruining Arrival, to how a smile saved his life.
We also do a bunch of very silly improv comedy with Joseph Elijah, including a scene where we come upon Noah doing another go 'round on the ark. Joseph Elijah is a sweet guy who's not afraid to go deep, be vulnerable, and we really have a very compelling conversation. Aston and I had a great time getting to know him, and we know you will too.

Super fun hang on #NoSuggestionPod this week, with the scrappy and sharp actor, dancer, filmmaker, and comedian, Kristin "Captain" Kirkley (@captainkirkley). Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I have a ball mixing it up with Kristin chatting about all kinds of topics from ancient cities and civilizations, to traveling via Amtrak, relationships, both platonic and romantic, and much much more.
We also have a wealth of really giddy and funny improv scenes this week, including a scene where we follow just grizzled old codger and his faithful dogs around a campfire. We really had such a fun time with Kristin. We loved Kristin's candor, her dynamic thinking process, and fascinating point of view. We know you'll have as much fun getting to hang with them as we did.

Such a privilege to have a rare sighting of one of NYC's most essential Soviet creatives on #NoSuggestionPod, actor, designer, visual artist, and improv comedian, Nikolai Solonski (@pocketz888). Joined by guest co-host Rich Templeton (@richhunttemp), we get to chat with Nikolai about some fascinating topics, and both present us with a great surprise at the end of the podcast. We chat with Nikolai about philosophies of rest and energy for performers, we break down the concept of "dumbing it down", seeing everyday objects in a new light, using unrealized ideas from improv scenes as inspiration for art, what Nikolai makes of the changes that have taken place in his homeland, .
Also Nikolai and Rich both, unprompted brought their beautiful visual artwork to the studio and share it with us! I try to describe them on the air, and I'll share the images here and on my instagram.
On top of all that, we all get some really inspired improv comedy scenes off in this episode, including a scene where we catch up with an ornery but respected pro-golfer in the most important tournament of their career. This is, for lack of a better term, such a colorful episode. It was such a treat to have Nikolai and Rich on the show. This episode was so rich and fun, please enjoy it with us.

Thrilled on #NoSuggestionPod this week to have one of my favorite personalties in the city, actor, host, producer, native New Yorker, and stand-up, sketch, and improv comedian, Simon Bloch (@simonjupiter). Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I had a blast at Radio Free Brooklyn Studios getting to know Simon better. We got to have a lively chat with Simon about David Goggins vs Walton Goggins, making it in New York, first kisses, going to school in the same building for twelve years, hating on Timothy Chalamet, problems with Dan Harmon, James Stewart, ironic detachment vs sincerity, and more.
We get some really some wacky and funny improv comedy scenes in this episode too, including a scene about two boys concerned their divorced dad is enjoying the single life way too much. Simon is so fun, and is such a bright and positive spirit. I'm a huge fan of his wonderful monthly comedy talk and variety show, the Nighttime Routine (@thenighttimeroutine), at the Gutter in Williamsburg (@gutterbar). It's a very classy show, and a very wild show, and I can't recommend it enough. And I can't recommend this hour with Simon enough, we know you'll enjoy it as much as we did.

It's a privilege this episode of #NoSuggestionPod to really get to know, actor, father, middle child, and comedian, Frankie Rollo (@frankierollocomedy). Co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I take the opportunity at Radio Free Brooklyn studios this week to learn all about Frankie's interesting life, and there's so much to talk about like his beloved Scottish and Italian parents, his New Jersey upbringing amongst six siblings, why Frankie's dad is his hero, we become privy to his dad's choice vocabulary, we learn what Jackie Chan means to Frankie, and we get to hear about his experience as a young, single dad.
We get a lot of wacky and hysterical improv scenes in, including a scene about the oldest, craziest uber driver in all creation. I actually really love this episode with Frankie, and Aston and I had a blast getting to know him. He's thoughtful, earnest, and game to play. You're in for a treat. Catch Frankie in April performing with a new ensemble team Thursdays at The PIT Loft (@thepitnyc).

I think truly one of the best improvisors in the city, and he's been a dream guest for while, actor and comedian Nick Carrillo (@nickcarrillo77) joins us on #NoSuggestionPod this week. Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I learned a lot getting to know Nick at Radio Free Brooklyn studios this week. We got to chat with Nick about his incredible tenure on house teams at The People's Improv Theater (@thepitnyc) in the 2010's, how a leading role in a three year off-Broadway run of a hit play came out of that tenure, why his college in Santa Fe doesn't exist anymore, UIL competitive theater, doing comedy bits as a five year old, and more.
We also find some incredibly interesting characters and worlds in some really beautifully unique and funny improv scenes this week, including a scene that follows three survivors of a gnarly plane crash. I feel we found a way of playing this episode that is special for No Suggestion. This episode is super-charged and cracking with energy. Nick is fascinating New York artist, and I'm really glad we got the opportunity to learn a little about what makes him tick. We know you'll enjoy getting to know Nick too.

It's a rare one on one episode of #NoSuggestionPod this week with Ralf and co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins). This week, at Radio Free Brooklyn studios, it's a quieter, more focused and more intimate hour, but no less fun and funny, actually. Aston and I have a really good time hanging just the two of us and chatting about soda, sobriety, dating in high school, our views on what parenthood might be like, and taking care of oneself.
There's also some extra great improv scenes this episode that are surprisingly funny and giddy, including a scene about a private contractor requesting needs a little more time and money from their employer. We don't often have episodes without guests and it's a rare treat when co-hosts and I just get to spend the time together. I really cherish this episode and I think you'll dig it too.
Co-host Aston Hollins hosts the Old 2 Begin open mic (@old2beginopenmic), an open mic that give priority to performers over age 35, every other Tuesday at Otto's Shrunken Head in NYC. Check that out!

This week on #NoSuggestionPod we are privileged to make friends with actor, writer, filmmaker, and sketch and improv comedian, Noah Friend (@noahfriend). Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I have a delightful, chill hang with Noah, and we chat about the pressure of living with such a friendly name, how haunted Connecticut is, Ketamine, starting improv as a way to get better at sketch, SZA, knowing too much about celebrities, using social media as a content creator, comedian vs artist, and more! It's a wonderfully fun and thoughtful chat.
We also have tons of ridiculous improv scenes this week, including a scene about three college dorm roommates who don't know how to navigate conflict. Noah was a delightful guest. I appreciate his candor, and his sense of humor. We know you'll be as charmed by him as we were.

It was a pleasure and a privilege to spend an hour on #NoSuggestionPod this week getting to know actor, director, improv coach and teacher, and comedian, Nicole Asava (@nicoleasava)! Co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I really dug in with Nicole at Radio Free Brooklyn Studios this week as we chatted all about how Thai names change, pound cake, the 4 years Nicole spent in LA around the pandemic, where people of color are found in Burlington, VT, chasing RADA, nosey pugs, being a lonely child, and more!
We also get a ton of hilarious and absurd improv scenes in, including a scene about a grandparent's deep disappointment at a book signing. Make sure to follow Nicole, and check out the next installment of the monthly show she directs at UCB (@ucbtny), THEATRE: The Improvised Play, Tuesday, February 25th! Also, sign up to take a comedy class with her at UCB or Brooklyn Comedy Collective (@comedybrooklyn).
Nicole is so interesting, charming, and full of surprises, this episode was so electric. We know you'll dig getting to know Nicole as much as we did.

For our Valentine's Day episode I invited two guests that I love to #NoSuggestionPod... my CO-HOSTS! This week I invited on both Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) to Radio Free Brooklyn studios, who had NEVER MET before to be here at the same time!
We have a very chill hang, and chat about comedy and improv in our lives, what it means to be an artist and a good citizen in these spooky times, what we've gained from doing this podcast, and overall get to know each other better. There are so many good and chill vibes, and quite a few funny improv scenes, including a scene that is a fever dream of a very psychedelic dance party.
Shouting out Aston's new NYC open mic, Old 2 Begin, that prioritizes performers and artists over 35 years of age, that is finishing up at Young Ethel's and picking back up at Otto's Shrunken Head, and you can follow @old2beginopenmic for dates and times. Also shouting out Christopher Morucci's new game show at Caveat Comedian Traitors, the next installment of which is March 31 at Caveat, get tickets here, and be sure to follow @comediantraitors.
I'm so thankful for my co-hosts, Aston and Christopher, and this episode is a little love fest. I hope you enjoy it and I hope you know we are thankful for you.

We spent a beautiful hour with actor, writer, tarot reader, somatic therapist, and improv comedian, return guest Lyssa Mandel (@aflockofsandwiches) on #NoSuggestionPod this week. Co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I really enjoyed chatting with Lyssa about how Lyssa went from leaving the house to audition all the time to taking clients all-day at home via zoom. We also chat about morning altars, crying at the DMV, the Righteous Gemstones, and reincarnation.
We also explore some beautiful worlds via hilarious improv scenes, including a scene about a rather underwhelming level of heaven. It's Lyssa's second time on the show and it's an even more chill, and exploratory, hang than the first time. Lyssa is one of my fav people, and we really hope you'll enjoy hanging with her as much as we did. And if you did dig hanging with Lyssa, and you're interested in writing, check out her Writing Jacuzzi (@thewritingjacuzzi) meets and workshops.

A joy to spend time getting to know, and do improv with, actor, filmmaker, writer, Illinois native, Hofstra University grad, Pioneers (@pioneersbar) bartender, and improv comedian, Mark Melton (@swugmark) this week on #NoSuggestionPod. Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I enjoyed chatting with Mark about the midwest, bagel preferences, cooking versus eating out, passion and dreams, Marvel's Daredevil, and so much more.
Mark is also such a terrifically fun improv partner, and we make some gut-bustingly funny improv scenes together, including scene about a peculiar third-grader who is either very precocious or hopelessly dense. This was a delightful episode, and we were delighted to have Mark on. We are very confident you'll laugh a lot during this episode and have as much fun getting to hang with Mark as we did.

What a party we had this week on #NoSuggestionPod with our guest, actress, model, influencer, brand ambassador, and improv/sketch/stand-up comedian Maya Fadi Acra (@whatevermayawants)! Joined by honorary guest co-host, Andreus Sonder Hills (@allcity_flow), back from last week, Maya dishes with co-host Aston Hollins (@astonhollins) and I for a full hour. We talk about why and how Maya became a cunt, lying at a church job interview, how she almost became a koala, how her street interviews with @noonecares made her feel bad about herself, the proper way to slide into DM's, how Maya got onto late nite TV in Lebanon, messages to Lorne Michaels, and more!
We also get to do so much insane improv comedy with Maya, including a full reenactment of her relationship with her chihuahua, Stewie the Macho dog. This episode is full of love, and joy, and laughter, and attitude. I love it. We want to give special thanks to Maya for being a trooper and pushing through actual food poisoning to be on this episode. She was a joy to have on, and so funny. We know you'll have fun listening to this episode.

We also do a ton of fun improv scenes this episode, including a scene about a magical gathering in a steam room. So grateful to have these guys on the show. Playing with them was so fun and easy, and immersive! Check out these lovely scenes and this lovely conversation!

It finally happened.
The man who at the top of my list wish-list of possible guests on #NoSuggestionPod when we started, actor, entrepreneur, care-taker, former SNL staff-writer, teacher, the proprietor of Pioneers Bar (@pioneersbar), founder of the People's Improv Theater (@thepitnyc), and comedian, Ali Farahnakian (@alialinyc) is our guest this week. Co-host Aston-Hollins McClanahan (@astonhollins), and I, had the privilege of spending an hour with this sage, ridiculous, and fascinating man. We talk with Ali about gratitude, saying yes, how he almost didn't make it to record the podcast, how he had to surrender five business to the pandemic, improv as yoga, the SNL 25th anniversary show, how the PIT was founded in the shadow of 9/11, and more.
We also have so much fun doing improv with Ali, including a scene about a volatile corporate CEO learning to control his temper. This episode was everything we hoped for and we're so proud that it's our first official No Suggestion episode of 2025. We're so thankful to Ali, he's done a lot for me, and The People's Improv Theater in NYC is the theater that raised me as an improvisor. We hope you dig this episode as much as we did. We welcome back one of our first guests we ever had on #NoSuggestionPod, actor, stand-up and improv comedian, Dean Rule (@deanrulesinsta)! It's been more than two years since Dean first came on, and co-host Aston-Hollins McClanahan (@astonhollins) and I have a giddy time catching up with the Dean about how unpleasant the stand-up world can be, the apocalypse, when Dean first moved to NY to pursue comedy, hiding yourself off-stage and revealing who you are onstage, how to end a conversation at a party, farty situations, and much more!
We really go ham and get a ton of improv scenes in this week too, including a scene about a trio of friends tripping on molly. Dean, who had a scene from his first appearance included in our 100th episode "best of" special, is a wonderful guest, and it was so delightful to have him back on. Check out his improv team RentAFriend (@rentafriendinsta). Enjoy!

This week's on #NoSuggestionPod our guest is my long-time friend, one of the funniest people in NYC, actor, filmmaker, teacher, husband, father, clown, and improv comedian, Chris Manley (@chrismanley). Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I find endless insights and surprises getting to know Chris Manley's squirrelly origin story. We talk about how Chris and I met the day I entered the clown world, 16 years ago, being sober from drugs and alcohol for more than a decade, growing up in Jersey with a stutter and a lisp, high cholesterol, Chris' unique approach to clown, his travels to Africa, making films with his wife, Shaina Feinberg (@shainafeinberg), and much more!
We also get into a bunch of really crazy and delirious improv scenes including a scene about an inmates parole hearing. It was a thrill to really get to know Chris better, and hear more about his passion and philosophy for comedy. This was a thrilling episode to make. Please give it a listen!

We also get some wild and wildly funny improv scenes in, including a scene about a bank robbery gone horribly awry. Ben is equal parts rascal, and lovely man, it was really a privilege to have him on. His one man show, Just Ben, goes up on Dec 11th at The Rat (@theratnyc). Check it out! And check this episode out! Co-host Aston Hollins McClanahan (@astonhollins) and I really have fun mixing it up with Patrick, chatting about life and death, the early improv scene of NYC, Patrick's days in Chicago studying with Shira Piven and Del Close, what I have to look forward to turning 40, and more!
We also get into some squirrelly and hilarious improv scenes, including a scene about a sinister roommate in house meeting. Patrick is so interesting, and brilliant, and full of passion, this episode is really a gem. We know you'll enjoy it.

What an absolute pleasure to spend an hour on #NoSuggestionPod with the treasure of Brooklyn, actor, puppeteer, chef, teleprompter operator, rapper, producer, husband, stand-up and improv comedian Mariel Grullon (@jezusthebodegacat). Co-host Christopher Morucci (@christophermorucci) and I count ourselves privileged to chat with our beloved friend Mariel this week about being from Brooklyn, being prompted to start improv by Ray Cordova of Astronomy Club as both were inspired by Donald Glover, how Mariel and his wife Jodi met, the original Super Mario Brothers movie, not feeling confident as a youth, and running the teleprompter at CBS news for 19 hrs straight the day of the election.
We also get a myriad of wild and absurd improv comedy scenes in, including a rare and intimate backstage audience with jazz legend Louis Armstrong.
Mariel has so many cool things going on, and we really want to support him so be sure to check out his podcast with his cousin called Look Back At It (@thelookbackatitpodcast), and is co-running a stand-up open mic at Lot 45 Wednesdays called Open Mic Surgery.
This episode was such a pleasure to record. Mariel is a wonderful, warm, beautifully funny and playful dude, and a man of respect. Please enjoy this episode, if you do please rate, subscribe, and leave a rating for No Suggestion podcast.
