Trained as a physician, Professor Higginson is currently Professor of Palliative Care and Policy, Vice Dean (Research) of the Florence Nightingale Facuty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care and Director of the Cicely Saunders Institute at King's College London. Trained as a nurse in cancer care and pain management, Mr. Coyne has been in palliative care in its evolution. He was one of the few PDIA nurse scholars and has been at the forefront of policy and has served as core faculty for ELNEC – National and International. He has edited several books related to palliative care.

Trained as a chaplain as part of her second career after she has been involved with film making, Chaplain Scott helped evolve a chaplaincy role within cancer care and palliative care.
