Week 1: Understanding the Prophetic
Ignorance about the operation of the prophetic has contributed to why others don’t want to accept the prophetic ministry. Nevertheless, no matter your experience or opinion about the prophetic, there is enough evidence in the scriptures that proves that the prophetic is a needed office or a needed gift in our dispensation.

The authenticity of a prophetic word is not determined by how accurate or detailed it is but by the source. There are three sources to every prophetic word: The God source, the source of the flesh and the demonic source. In Acts 16, a young girl prophesied to Paul and Silas and everything she said was accurate but the source was not from God. -
The prophetic ministry is a function and the prophetic office is a position. When a person occupies the prophetic office, it means that person has been permanently appointed into a position. The ministry of a prophet may at times be displayed by those that are not called to be prophets as a permanent position.

The prophetic gifts bring an expression of the mind of divinity to humanity. It is the divine ability of the supernatural that gives access to a person into the deep things of God by lifting him from the natural to the supernatural. They give insight into the plans, purposes and intents of God as it relates to a situation, a person, a city, a community, an organization or a nation.

There is enough evidence in the scripture (Ephesians 4:10), that there is an office for the Teacher, the Pastor, the Evangelist, the Apostle, and an office for the Prophet. The reason why many people do not have enough understanding of the prophetic is because they have not spent time to get to know what the Lord has to say concerning the prophetic.
