  • Rachel Croxall, founder of Blossom & Rhyme, started her business in Chattanooga, Tennessee, during the pandemic after losing her job at a wedding venue. Leaning on her Christian faith and driven by a passion for preserving memories, she began creating resin jewelry and keepsakes using wedding flowers, initially making small necklaces and eventually expanding to full bouquet preservations. Her business took off after a viral Instagram video got 40 million views, which prompted her to transition from a hobby to a full-time enterprise.

When a frost disrupted one of the main US plants that supply epoxy chemicals, and the pandemic had ports backlogged for imported product, iCoat was able to provide a steady, constant supply based on their relationships and longevity in the supply chain. While other companies were telling their clients it would be weeks before they could get more product, Blossom & Rhyme had a constant supply of epoxy through iCoat to fill their orders.

The company quickly grew from a small home-based operation to a substantial business with multiple employees. Rachel emphasizes the importance of hard work, customer service, and being selective about partnerships. Her unique approach includes incorporating poetry into her preservation services, with shipping specialists selecting personalized poems that match each client's love story or memorial narrative.

Today, Blossom & Rhyme has expanded to a large workspace of 6,000 square feet and employs 20 people, including Rachel and her husband. They have become the most followed floral preservation account on Instagram. Rachel remains passionate about her work, viewing it as a way to help people preserve precious memories and moments that might otherwise be lost, reflecting her belief that life is composed of meaningful small moments worth capturing and cherishing.

Rachel agrees, highlighting that epoxy can spark creativity and allow recipients to explore their artistic sides. They emphasize that giving someone materials for creative projects can lead to self-discovery and joy, drawing on personal anecdotes about how such gifts have inspired loved ones.

The discussion shifts towards specific gift ideas, including innovative resin projects like LED lamps designed to resemble underwater scenes. Rachel expresses excitement about these items, suggesting that they can serve as meaningful gifts that reflect the recipient's interests. Ian adds that personalizing gifts with elements related to the recipient's hobbies—like incorporating a golf ball for a golf enthusiast—can make them even more special. They both agree that these thoughtful gestures show care and understanding.

  • Tim from iCoat and Tiffany from Savvy Revolution answer the TOP 10 listener questions. Ian and Rachel host the Resin Mastery Podcast Exploring iCoat epoxy. Tips from experts have great insights from professionals in this space.

How long does it take for epoxy to be dry in between coats? Are epoxy tumblers safe to drink out of?Can you use epoxy outside in the hot summer sun?Is Epoxy Resin Safe to use Indoors? How do you get epoxy off your skin or hands? Why does my epoxy look cloudy and does temperature affect epoxy? Can I use a second coat of epoxy to cover imperfections? Will a cigarette melt my epoxy on an ashtray? How do I sand out epoxy imperfections? How do you correctly torch or heat epoxy?

NOTES: Recoating tumblers use a countertop epoxy, which can be recoated in 2 hours, for deeper casts, the recoating time will be much longer. TORCHING: This is for thin mil projects, with casting epoxy, we try and limit heat as deeper pours create more heat, and we don’t want it to exotherm.

SAFETY Note: If working indoors with a lot of projects at the same time we recommend using a respirator depending on the volume of jobs and time indoors. When sanding, because of the dust particals, we recommend wearing a mask so you don’t breathe in that dust.
