Hi Folks! Have you ever wondered where Contemporary Christian Music came from or how it got started? Recently a great new movie was released called the "Jesus Revolution" which gave me the idea to produce a show about the "Jesus Music" that was an integral part of that great spiritual revolution that started in the 1970's. Arguably, the story of Jesus Music begins when a young west coast pastor named Chuck Smith from Calvary Chapel Church was asked by a hippie band called "Love Song" if they could play in his church. As chuck tells it in his autobiography, "I was a bit apprehensive about what the band would play and what they would sound like". So, Pastor Chuck asked the band if he could hear a sample of their music. The band eagerly agreed and started lugging their guitars into the church. They set up their gear and eventually started playing a song they had written called "Welcome Back." As Pastor Chuck tells it, "as soon as the band started playing, the power of the Holy Spirit fell upon our little church and I was awe-struck; the band was really good! Pastor Chuck asked the band if they could play for a youth service that very evening and they did. And so began "Jesus Music," which would eventually be called Contemporary Christian Music and, indeed, the beginnings of the "Jesus Revolution" itself. I hope you enjoy our podcast and find it entertaining and informative. Ron King .

Hi Folks, for those of you who are familiar with the Ron King Show audio podcast, you know that most of the time we feature Christian bands, singers or gospel groups from the areas of western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia. Well, instead of that, on this episode of the Ron King Show we have the pleasure of having as our guest, from the "big" city of Lone Pine, PA the excellent Christian comedian Mr. Randy Riggle. You may be wondering what's the difference between a Christian comedian and a regular secular comedian is and Randy gives us the answer to that question. Randy also talks about whats it's like to be on the road as a comedian for over forty years and some of the difficulties encountered in making a full time living at it. Randy loves to travel and has had the pleasure of meeting , and working with, some of the top comedians in the business over the years and we get to hear Randy tell us all about that also. During the interview, Randy does a great impression of singer Johnny Mathis which is quite funny; you won't want to miss that. I loved interviewing Randy; he's a lot of fun and I'm sure you'll enjoy listening to his interview as much as I did producing it. Thanks for listening! Ron King

Hi Folks: Well, we have a great interview and some excellent original country music on this edition of the RON KING SHOW. Our three studio guests include Tammy Jo & Iron Horse; all from the upper Ohio Valley (Moundsville, WV and St. Clairsville, Ohio) and are comprised of Larry Truex on electric bass guitar, John (Buster) Gatten on electric lead guitar and Tammy Jo Whitlatch on acoustic guitar and vocals. Tammy Jo & Iron Horse have only been together a little over a year but the individual members of the band all have years of experience playing with other bands before getting together to play in Iron Horse. The group has just released their first CD together called "MY CADILLAC" and boy is it a good one! Their title tune written by Tammy, called "My CADILLAC, is quite reminiscent of the vibe on the Grammy winning CD "RAISING SAND," produced by T Bone Burnett and starring Allison Krause and Robert Palmer. Another great original tune on the new CD, also written by Tammy, is a song called "WEST VIRGINIA." (No. not the one by John Denver; that song is called "Country Roads.) And to let you hear just how unbelievably good the band is we'll let you hear "WEST VIRGINIA" on the podcast. We think that TAMMY JO & IRON HORSE is one of the very best country bands to come out of west Virginia in a long time and, after listening to their music, we think you'll agree. Happy listening! Ron King

If you enjoy oldies music from the 50's and the 60's, then you are really going to enjoy this episode of the Ron King Show. The show comes to a nifty end as DJ George plays one of Ron's brand new songs from Ron's latest album "TWO ANGELS MOVED IN FROM MEMPHIS;" the new song is a hilarious tune called, "BLACK SOCKS AND BERKINSTOCKS." Our guest for this edition of the Ron King Show is Sandy Lusco Huffman, a seasoned Christian/Country singer-songwriter now living in rural New Freeport, PA, just over the state line from West Virginia. Sandy started out singing and performing in school when she was very young in Pittsburgh and by the time she was a teenager she was opening up for top country artists, such as Ronnie Milsap, on the WWVA Radio Jamboree in Wheeling, West Virginia. (The Jamboree could be heard at night on WWVA radio in 16 states and parts of Canada at that time.) Sandy also got to perform at "Jamboree In The Hills" where most of the top Nashville country acts of the day performed. However, as Sandy entered her twenty's she began to feel that, even though she still loved music and performing, the type of compromising life style that sometimes went with it all was just not what Sandy was looking for. So, give a listen to Sandy's story and see how it all turned out. I'm sure you'll like it. It's truly interesting!! Ron King .

Hi Folks! Well, we've changed things up a bit this time around on the Ron King Show. Ordinarily, we feature Christian singers and bands on our podcast, but on this episode of the Ron King Show we are featuring the brand new, first time published, Christian book author Paul Hatalsky from Houston, PA. The title of Paul's book, co-authored with his wife Kathy, is "Life's Little Tidbits." In his book, Paul takes mundane every day occurrences in his life and, in a very interesting manner, is able to equate these occurrences with just the right scripture verse to teach and enlighten the reader. Even though this is Paul's first book we find it to be entertaining and thought provoking . If you are a writer, or if you've just thought about writing a book someday you'll probably enjoy listening to this podcast. I hope you enjoy listening to the show as much as I enjoyed producing it. Blessings! Ron King .

Christian/Country musician and pastor Mitch Wall from Fayette City, PA is our guest on this episode of the Ron King Show. Mitch tells an interesting story about how he started out playing country songs in bars and clubs, eventually got saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in the old Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA, started bible school and years later felt the Lord's call to become a Baptist pastor. In addition to being a fine preacher, Mitch is also a really good guitarist, singer and songwriter. On this episode of the Ron King Show you'll get to hear a fun song that Mitch wrote and recorded called, "Honk If You Love Jesus." I am sure that many Christian musicians who listen to this podcast we'll be able to relate to singing and playing in bars and then getting saved and turning their lives, and their music, over to the Lord. I hope you enjoy the podcast, I enjoyed producing it! Blessings, Ron King .

As folks who know me are aware, I love Country Gospel Music. And I'm always thrilled when I find a new artist who is deserving of some recognition. One of those artists I had the pleasure of meeting recently. Her name is Robyn Wells, she lives in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania with her family and fronts a country/gospel group called Heart & Soul. Robyn was born in West Virginia and lives on a farm with some horses, a donkey, a bunch of dogs and some cats; she is genuine country through and through and loves the Lord and her family with all her heart. The members of Heart & Soul include Robyn's daughter Rachel ,who plays bass and sings harmony vocals; Robyn's husband Allen, who plays lead guitar; Robyn's cute little grand-daughter Savannah, who provides percussion and sometimes Robyn's son, Shane, who can play a multitude of instruments--and all of them quite well! On this episode of the Ron King Show Robyn talks about her early days on the road with her daughter Rachel singing her original gospel songs and making and selling her own CD's; and, of course, she talks about her family and her faith. We also manage to work in some of Robyn's music on the show so you can hear just how good a singer she really is. I really enjoyed the interview with Robyn Wells and I hope you will too! Blessings, Ron King .

Justin Hartzell, a hip-hop Christian music artist and ordained minister from Washington, PA is our guest on this edition of the Ron King Show. This conversation is particularly interesting to Christian, and even secular, music artists because it offers a behind- the- scenes look at a Christian music genre that that is rarely talked about and is often misunderstood; especially by the Church. On this show, Justin answers some tough questions such as: How does the Church view Christian hip-hop music? Is there any difference between hip-hop and rap music? How do you reconcile being a hip-hop artist with being an ordained minister and what do you think will be the future of Christian, and even secular, music after the Covid 19 pandemic is over? So, join us for this very interesting interview. Christian hip-hop may not be your particular cup of tea as far as Christian music goes but you will see that, for the type of music Justin does, he does it extremely well; Justin is a very talented artist! I hope you like it! Blessings! Ron King .

Welcome to another episode of the RON KING SHOW with long-time gospel singer and recording artist MR.JASON WOODS from Greene County, PA. You'll enjoy the fun and fast paced conversation as Jason talks about the joys, work, travel and yes, the disappointments too, of being a traveling Southern Gospel singer and preacher. Jason holds no punches as he discusses, in a very humorous fashion, the practicalities of holding down a day job, as so many gospel singers do, then getting on the road on the weekend and driving three or more hours to get the opportunity to sing in a church in another state for just 30 minutes or sometimes less. Jason also talks about, in a very humorous manner, being a preacher's kid and the challenges and responsibilities that came with that role as he was growing up as a teenager and just wanted to play basketball while his dad had very different ideas about how Jason should be spending his time. Also,on this episode you'll get to hear Jason's fine voice as he sings a great Southern Gospel song he wrote. So, give this podcast a listen. I think you're really going to like it! R. K.
