With David Wright’s 30th solo release ‘Fade’, his music drifts between waves of gentle ambience and the dynamism of pulsating sequences. Hailing from the mystical isles of New Zealand, long-established Spotted Peccary Music artist Rudy Adrian. Steve Hillman has always been drawn to early music from the Medieval period onwards into the Renaissance and beyond, and this is shown in his new album ‘Vestiges’.
Jarguna, the Italian sonic alchemist Marco Billi’s new release ‘Hanami’ shimmers with luminous electronic ambience. Flip-Flap is pleased to announce the series of works chosen by Conrad Schnitzler and John 3:16 nine-track album The Pact, in which the American producer shows an enormous aptitude for combining different sound concepts such as industrial, post-metal, or dark wave.
We kick off with ‘Life Sidereal,’ which represents Erothyme’s journey, under the aegis of Blue Tech, into the world of analogue and modular synthesis.

This edition welcomes The Soviet Space Dog Project with atmospheric experimentation into a full-flight sequencer fest. René G. Boscio is an LA-based Puerto Rican composer best known for his unique blend of acoustic and Latino instruments with modern experimental electronics—deep ambient music from Poland by Stefan Weglowski. The album ‘Paradoxum’ outlines Matteo Cambò’s musical journey and presents itself as an invitation to explore the fusion between human experiences, sonic experimentation, and enchantment.Synthesist Tim Stebbing was part of the league of UK’s DIY electronic music artists in the mid-80s with a new single, ‘Gnome Sequence’, 10 minutes of sequencing Berlin-style, arpeggiation, and synthesised washes of sound over the top. Deep space German artist Matthias Lehmann has masterfully mastered different styles of electronic music over the last 50 years. Hi everyone, we have another array of musical gems to entertain you. It seems we have collected many ambient styles and symphonic excursions in this edition. It’s good to see we are represented by several new female musicians. The stillness and vulnerability of Lyndsie Alguire’s music, the re-release of Danielle Boutet’s 1985 album Pieces, which borders Chanson spoken-word jazz noir and minimalism, with Claire Deak’s solo work is heightened by her experiences building unique sonic worlds and swaying atmosphere. Steve Roach’s ambient classic Structures Of Silence is celebrating its now 40th anniversary with a beautiful remastered limited edition LP, 1CD & two bonus discs created in 2013 on the 3CD deluxe edition. Wayfarer Records has a sampler introducing artists from this US-based company specialising in electronic and ambient music genres. We begin with the superb new album Sacred Places by Hollan Holmes.

Moving house over Christmas has been a busy time for me. Now in temporary accommodation with my daughter & son-in-law before another move later in the year back to the UK.
Since starting Sequences in a cupboard (yes, you heard it right) with just a cassette machine, I have come full circle being back in a cupboard again while most of my possessions are in storage with just one trusty Mac computer to work on.
This edition will be the only podcast for this month due to the upheaval of the last few weeks. I managed to put together a two-part podcast—the first session featuring sequential, cinematic, neo-classical music and Berlin School. Part 2 delves into ambient light & dark, symphonic, world and even experimental noise.
It’s with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye to a good friend I’ve known for several years in the electronic music scene, Wolf Red, who passed away just before Christmas, and at the beginning of this new year, we lost Greek musician IASOS, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the New Age music genre in the 70s

This month’s first edition will be our last podcast featuring a full lineup of different musicians, with the finale for this year just before the Christmas holiday, another special on a well-respected band and their various solo and other projects.
We are back with a more upbeat selection here, including melodic sequential music and several Berlin School-influenced tracks. Only one new name, B. Ashra, to add to the roster of the thousands of musicians/bands we’ve introduced over more than 30 years. We include two of his recent albums, which span ambient music’s dark & light side with meditational & ritual overtones.
Talking of dark ambient, Vidna Obmana’s Dante Trilogy is a collection of his early 2000 albums Tremor Spore & Legacy.
Kamarius, with his ritual, mystical sound, relaxing and enigmatic atmospheres. Pioneers of French electro,\ Space Art with ‘Personal Duty’, mastered by the legendary Michel Geiss and Dutch musician Remy’s most conceptual project, including a ten-piece choir.
Steve Hillman has been in this scene with sequential and progressive electronics for 40 years. We’ve included his latest ‘Sunsets Of Summers Past’ converging on the prog rock side.

Those who join us for the first time on Sequences are Terminus Void’s ambient music from Seattle-based American musician. Peruvian avant-garde artist Manongo Mujica uses a fusion of electronics and cello percussion, creating a sound montage of immersive, hypnotic atmospheres. Two from Projekt, Alain Elettronico remixes from the label’s artists, uptempo melodies & rhythm-driven tracks and Swedish composer Henrik Meierkord, who uses the cello as his main instrument to create minimalistic ambient pieces. The View From Vega, an unashamedly vintage-sounding album in all its analogue glory from Ben Edwards, better known by his pseudonym Benge, has six tracks that slowly unfold their oscillations in organic melodic soundscapes. Ice Planet 9000’s track ‘Great Cloud’ is a celestial odyssey featuring cosmic soundscapes and music that ascend through a swirling super-massive nebula. We leave you with our two female musicians. Anna Wall’s album ‘Dream Theory’ is about music connecting to our conscious and subconscious mind, exploring sounds across the ambient and experimental spectrum, with Maddy Briggs, an electroacoustic composer based in Sydney, recycles organ and piano recordings as a living, breathing sonic atmosphere.

After several years buried in books, manuals, patch cables and messing with a DIY synth, JakoJako (real name Sibel Koçer) was playing her first live sets in Berlin, spending every spare cent on Eurorack modules. The trio Emeralds with soaring sounds stylistically indebted to deep German electronic music pioneers. ACTIVE DARK FILAMENT is a Canadian electronic music artist creating textured cinematic compositions, often containing a narrative edge. Like nearly all of Inquiri’s music, there is a distinct element of heartache mixed with hope, elements of drone voice field recording and intense layers of sound to draw in the listener. From The Mouth Of The Sun is on a mission to bring its dynamic breed of electro-acoustic classical music to the masses this year. Our lineup in this issue includes the third volume of their benefit compilation of Various Artists From Ukraine, now 19 months since Russia invaded with no end in sight. Ambient space music, performed by David Luxton, was inspired by astronomy and celestial themes. His mission is to make transcendent music from the inner and outer worlds. Modular synthesis Ombre Cohen experimenting with semi-modular synths and an ever-growing Euro rack case. The latest addition to the Winter-Light’s artist roster, a new ambient drone project, is created by Dan Barrett, a.k.a. Aetherium Nebula. His primary focus is manifesting atmospheres inspired by the intersection of sadness, spirituality and far-future cyberpunk science fiction. With her love of Africa, Lis Addison uses electronics, voices, and nature sounds on the album, which are intended to blend equally into the music the way all beings work harmoniously in an ecosystem for its health and benefit, and our vintage track from Harvey Bainbridge surfs the ambience of deep space music, just a few of the varied genre of sounds you will hear.

We kick off this edition with Robert Schroeder’s new release, ‘Into The Light’, drifting away into dream worlds by letting yourself be beamed into other dimensions with space effects, mysterious spheres, deep strings and dreamy melodies.
Erik Wollo returns with an assemblage of acoustic guitars. Erik says everything you hear is acoustic, with no synths used on the new album ‘Cloud Of Strings’.
One musician who has graced our airwaves many times has been ELEON. His new album is a stunning atmospheric world of divine dimensions with guest musicians, including Grammy-nominated recording artist David Helpling.
Polypores returns for his second album on the Din label with ‘Multizonal Mind scramble’, a feast of modular textures and syncopated glitchy oscillators that swell and fade into strange sound worlds.
On the female side, Lucy Claire produces a fusion of classical cinematic and world influences intertwined with bittersweet piano motifs.
Now and again, we like to look back into the past, this time with Airsculpture’s first album released in 1995, ‘Impossible Geometries’. In those days, this three-piece band’s performances were 100% improvised, greatly influenced by Tangerine Dream of the 70s.

It’s great to see the feedback from some of you who enjoyed the Modular/vintage edition. Now, back to our usual look at recent new releases, with another round of superlative sounds from musicians based around the globe. Seven new names added to the list include, Under Water Sleep Orchestra, a nightmarish trip within blurry worlds and a nostalgic journey of dark ambient with a cinematic edge. The duo A Winged Victory Of A Dividing Pair music built on their foundations in ambient and neoclassical. Dramón brings experimental climatic and noisy music inspired by ambient and electronics as the basis of his creation. Incorporating gentle guitar synth flute and percussion, dappled with nature sounds, comes from Carlos Denger.
Known for his performances using lap steel, guitarist Frank Schultz takes a drifting journey into a cavernous and droning ambience. The unusual setup by Edouard Ferlet of two pianos, one of which is mechanical, echoes the work of Philip Glass or Nils Frahm. To stir emotions through well-orchestrated musical choices is William St Hugh.

Modular synths, once considered virtually obsolete, have been one of the most surprising growth areas in music technology over the last decade. The main appeal to musicians is obvious: their unrivalled flexibility makes them the most versatile form of an imaginable synthesiser. With many recent releases, this edition gives us more ambient electro-acoustic & downtempo music, including two pioneering musicians from the 80s to the present day. Steve Roach with the 20th anniversary of ‘Mystic Chords & Sacred Spaces, where the label Projekt collects all four parts into a single release — close to five hours of electronic ambient music, which allows the listener blissful hours on the high frontier between deep listening music and the spirituality of pure sound. The musical alchemist Robert Scott Thompson combines his mastery of the electroacoustic, acousmatic, contemporary instrumental and avant-garde genres on Placid.
Our modular track comes from the album Myuthafoo, based on creative sequencing processes that playfully unravel Caterina Barbieri's deep-rooted interest in time, space, memory and emotion.
Following lengthy negotiations upon the release of her 2022 debut, Nova Cat (yes, a cat), reluctantly agreed to Projekt Sam Rosenthal’s addition of ambient music to two tracks on her sophomore effort, Stellar purr.
