In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes seven through nine of Kimi Ni Todoke! In episode seven, Sawako, Chizu, and Ayane go out for ramen to a local shop. Sawako learns that the shop is owned by Ryuuâs family, and they live above the store. They spend the evening hanging out in Ryuuâs room and invite Kazehaya over. In episode eight, Sawakoâs friends encourage her to call them by their first names. However, she struggles to call Kazehaya âShotaâ. Pin forces Kazehaya to become a committee member for the upcoming sports festival. His middle school friend, Kurumi, is also on the committee, and itâs evident sheâs trying to become closer to Kazehaya. Kazehaya helps Sawako practice soccer for the sports festival. In episode nine, Sawako is enchanted by Kurumi and hopes to become friends with her, and the feeling seems to be mutual... or is it? Kazehaya struggles to call Sawako by her first name.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana review episodes four through six of Kimi Ni Todoke! In episode four, rumors rapidly spread about Chizu and Ayane, pinning Sawako for starting them. Ayane and Chizu overhear Sawako claim that they arenât her friends and leave before they can hear the full context of the conversation, which hurts and confuses them deeply. In episode five, further rumors about Sawakoâs presence being a detriment to Kazehaya, Chizu, and Ayane cause her to distance herself from them. Kazehaya speaks with Sawako about this, and he urges her to discuss her feelings with Chizu and Ayane about their friendship. Later, Sawako confronts girls she hears spreading rumors in the bathroom to try and settle them once and for all. In episode six, the school gathers around the girlâs bathroom after hearing about a fight going on inside. Sawako tries to clear the rumors with the girls in the restroom, and Ayane and Chizu come to her aid, sealing their friendship.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review the first three episodes of Kimi Ni Todoke! In episode one, Kuronuma Sawako struggles to interact with her classmates after being branded as cursed because of her resemblance to Sadako from the horror film The Ring. Her classmates even refer to her as âSadakoâ. Despite this, she is able to speak with a popular boy, Shouta Kazehaya, who invites her to the schoolâs test of courage event. Through this, Sawako becomes friendly with two more classmates: Yoshida Chizuru and Yano Ayane. In episode two, Sawako leaves her umbrella to cover a puppy left out in the rain on the way to school, and, later, Kazehaya decides to adopt him. The next day, Sawakoâs class has a seating arrangement change, and nobody wants to end up with their desk near hers. Kazehaya, Chizu, Ayane, and Ryuu choose to sit near her, bringing her to tears. In episode three, Kazehaya and Sawako chat after school, and Kazehaya brings his new puppy, Maru-chan, along. He learns that she daydreams about teaching others. The next day, Kazehaya asks Sawako for help with schoolwork, and the rest of the class flocks over to be tutored by her. She smiles genuinely, taking her classmates off guard. Ayane and Chizu overhear rumors about themselves and are told by the girls spreading them that they were started by Sawako.

When filmmaker Genya Tachibana sets out to create a documentary on famed actress Chiyoko Fujiwara, her life story plays out on screen as she relays her life story to him. Decades pass, and we see Chiyoko grow from being a teenager with hopes to become an actress someday to reaching celebrity status. Throughout her life, she chases after a mysterious painter she helped evade the law, hoping to find him and be with him again someday.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes forty-seven through fifty of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode forty-seven, Yuki and Manabe discuss Tohru and the nature of Yukiâs feelings towards her. Tohruâs class decides to rewrite Cinderella to fit their odd casting choices. In episode forty-eight, itâs showtime! Cinderella-ish is a hilarious success, despite an out of character outburst from Tohru at the end of the show, causing Kyo to wonder about her true feelings towards him. In episode forty-nine, Yuki makes sure to include Machi in the student councilâs plans to celebrate the end of the school year together. Itâs also time for the New Yearâs banquet at the Sohma estate, which results in an unsettling exchange between Akito and Yuki around forgiveness of one another. Tohru spends the holiday with Kyo, Kazuma, and Rin at Kazumaâs dojo. Tohruâs wish for the new year is for the Sohmaâs curse to be broken. In episode fifty, Kureno laments to Tohru about his feelings for Arisa. Shigure and Tohru learn the true nature of Kurenoâs bond to Akito.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika, Giana, and Phoenix of The Anime Tea review episodes forty-four through forty-six of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode forty-four, Tohru is determined to team up with Rin to find a way to break the Sohmaâs curse. Eventually, Tohru is able to console Rin. In episode forty-five, Tohruâs class decides to put on a performance of Cinderella for the cultural festival, but the casting choices they made were very interesting to say the least. Machi makes a mess of the student council room. Manabe and Yuki open up to one another about their struggles. In episode forty-six, we learn how Yuki truly feels about Tohru and finally find out exactly what happened the morning he led Tohru back to her mother when they were children. We also see pieces of Yukiâs childhood playout and the significant role Akito and his mother played in traumatizing him.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana, Chika, and Clarissa of the Anime World Order podcast review episodes forty-one through forty-three of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode forty-one, Tohru visits the Sohma estate to talk to Kureno on Uoâs behalf. By happenstance, she meets Momo, who is fascinated by Momiji and hopes Tohru can convince him to be her big brother. When Tohru speaks with Kureno, he vows to never speak to Uo again. In episode forty-two, itâs time for Tohruâs class trip to Kyoto! Romantic shenanigans are abound, while Tohru and Yuki find souvenirs to bring home. Yuki muses over the positive impact Tohru has had on his life and silently offers her gratitude. Kyo and Tohru spend some time alone. In episode forty-three, we learn about Rin and her difficult childhood, which culminated in her parents abandoning her in her teen years. Hatsuharu comes to her aid, and the two fall in love, only for Akito to disapprove of their relationship and horrifically injure Rin.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana review episodes thirty-eight through forty of Fruits Basket (2019)! In episode thirty-eight, Yuki meets new members of his student council. Kakeru Manabe and Yuki have an argument after school when Manabe asks Yuki regarding his feelings about Tohru. The boys have a heart-to-heart conversation, which breaks up the tension between them. In episode thirty-nine, Shigure steps in for Tohruâs parent-teacher conference when she learns her grandfather wonât be able to attend. Yuki contemplates inviting his own parents to the conference. Hatsuharu and Rin finally reunite. In episode forty, at parent-teacher conferences, Ayame arrives to help Yuki through the very uncomfortable meeting with his mother. The three argue in front of Mayu, and the result brings Yuki some closure.

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika return to Fruits Basket (2019) and begin season two! In episode twenty-six, Yuki joins his fellow student council members: Manabe and Machi, and he certainly doesnât know what to make of them. Motokoâs embarrassing outburst in the student council room is difficult to see unfold. In episode twenty-seven, Kazuma shows just how exemplary of a father he was, and still is, to Kyo. Kyo and Tohru share a deeply emotional conversation over late night somen regarding their futures. Chika and Giana are unquenchably intrigued, wondering what Shigureâs writing is like. Shigureâs laundry analogy perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being overwhelmed. In episode twenty-eight, Yuki steps out of his comfort zone yet again to try and better understand his flamboyant brother Ayame by visiting his clothing shop. We get a glimpse into Yukiâs difficult relationship with his family, including Ayame growing up. Despite their differences, the brothers strive to meet in the middle so that they can begin to mend their bond. This is possibly the most vulnerable episode weâve released on the main podcast. Fruits Basket introspection strikes again!

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes ten through twelve of A Sign of Affection! In episode ten, Itsuomiâs romantic nature and respect for Yuki and her anxiety around their new relationship sets a sweet tone for the episode and a beautiful example for partners everywhere. Madoka helps Yuki get a job working for her aunt, who is equally as fiery as she is. Itusomi also confronts Oushi about their rivalry and stands firm in his relationship with Yuki. In episode eleven, Kyoyaâs and Rinâs romance blossoms! Shinâs feelings for Emma, and Emmaâs feelings for Itsuomi come to a peak beneath the light of the full moon. We learn that Oushiâs decision to learn sign language originally came from a good place. The sundae ladies have a candid conversation about dating through the lens of Rinâs and Kyoyaâs uncertain relationship label. In episode twelve, Yuki and Itsuomi have a beautiful first date together! Rin and Kyoya also get clarity on their relationship. Shin and Emma take a chance on love. Itâs finale time!

In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika, Giana, and Jason Lord, voice actor and ADR director of the English dub of A Sign of Affection, review episodes seven through nine of the show! In episode seven, Itusomi and Yuki are official! Jason discusses the use of watercolors to denote the mixing of their communication styles in profound moments between them. After such a build up of romantic tension, Yuki and Itsuomi finally share a kiss thanks to an adorable miscommunication. In episode eight, Shinâs Keyboard Cat CD from Emma not only makes a big impression on him, but on Chika, Giana, and Jason as well. Itsuomiâs and Yukiâs âalmost kissâ causes a lot of fun tension. Shin gets a âplaceholderâ girlfriend to bury his feelings for Emma. In episode nine, âthe gangâ goes to sign language bootcamp! Rin and Kyoya have a serious conversation about feelings. Today is Shoujo Sundaeâs 2nd Anniversary! To celebrate, Giana and Chika are doing an Ouran HighSchool Host Club manga retrospective! Return to Music Room 3 and out what they thought of the true ending of the series and all of the character development that happened along the way. In this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Giana and Chika review episodes four through six of A Sign of Affection! In episode four, Yuki, Itsuomi, Rin, and Kyoya go on an adorable, mundane double date. Itâs a wonder Kyoya hasnât picked up on Rinâs very obvious feelings. Itsuomi asserts his place by Yukiâs side when he stands up to Oushi on the street. In episode five, Itsuomiâs string of suave moves take the ladiesâ breath away. Kyoyaâs emotional distance from Rin sends up a red flag. Rin, as the worldâs best wingwoman, sets Yuki and Itsuomi up to continue an important conversation that had been interrupted. Unfortunately, we learn that Yukiâs family has never taken the time to learn sign language, whereas Itsuomi is making a point to learn it for her. In episode six, Itsuomiâs beautiful confession to Yuki in the snow is a shoujo moment for the history books. He also makes sure to clear up any confusion regarding his relationship with Emma. Throughout this episode of Shoujo Sundae, Chika and Giana share a lot of memories, thoughts, and feelings about life, relationships, and some unhinged thoughts!
