Two-thirds of respondents indicate their biggest challenge in hiring is the lack of skilled, high-quality candidates. The Trump administration has proposed a hike in the minimum annual salary for the exemption from to $35,308 dollars per year from $23,660 dollars. This may be a good time to start thinking about looking at how your employees are classified and what happens if they become overtime-eligible.

The Department of Labor is expected to announce a new proposed salary threshold for the white-collar exemptions from overtime pay. But meeting the salary cutoff is just one requirement for classifying workers as exempt.
