Our second episode, Moderation in Islam, explores living in an increasingly capitalist culture. In this discussion, we share about struggles with retail addiction and consequential debt payment. We also explore the difference between wants and needs, including our social networking obsession and the FOMO (fear of missing out) that comes with it, raising awareness of the attention economy and ensuing effects. For those looking to Islam for solutions on living a more balanced life, we share strategies to living within your means with the moderation prescribed by Islam in an increasingly technologically advanced world, suggesting tips to be more appreciative, to declutter physically and psychologically, and ultimately to achieve improved health and wellbeing.

Assalamualaikum and welcome to the very first episode of Soulful Productivity - a podcast where we talk about ideas on how to live and work at your best and find joy in a way that aligns with the values of Islam.
In this first episode, we talk about the concept of Islamic productivity and what it even means, and discuss how Islam helps us live more productive lives that are also meaningful at the same time. We go into a bit more detail about our particular journeys into Islam and where we are right now.
Last but not the least, we exchange ideas on how we stay connected with other like-minded Muslims (with Hidaia chiming in with the struggle of finding Muslims to connect with in the US and how Clubhouse helps her with that) and do networking in general.
We hope you enjoy this episode and it gives you a few things to think of, and we look forward to sharing the next episode with you!
