In the late 1500s, a huge man-eating wolf was attacking and devouring the people of Bedburg, Bavaria. It stalked the forests, fields, and even the darkened streets of the surrounding areas. No one was safe from its blood-thirst. Fear and rumours spread throughout the land, until finally that dreaded word was whispered from neighbour to neighbour. A word that would explain how the beast could so easily appear and disappear at will: 'Werewolf'.
In this episode of Talking till Dawn, we investigate the events surrounding this alleged werewolf, pouring over old manuscripts and records to uncover the truth behind this terrifying case and the man who was accused of being a real werewolf: Peter Stump.
Please do leave a review, it really helps the podcast build an audience. Many thanks.

Croglin, northwest England: A legend looms over this remote Cumbrian village. A harrowing tale of desecrated tombs, sinister intruders, and bloodsucking terror.
One of a very few examples of the vampire in pre-20th Century English folklore, the "Cumberland Phenomenon" is usually presented as a true event... but how much truth does it actually hold? Diving deep into the history and literature of the case, Mike and Martin aim to find out.

In January 1909, a wave of winged terror swept New Jersey and southeast Pennsylvania. Sightings abounded of a strange, flying creature marauding its way through the settlements of the Delaware River and down to the Atlantic coast, menacing townspeople, attacking pets, and leaving impossible prints in the snow...
Something strange had emerged from the wild Pine Barrens at the heart of New Jersey, something out of the mists of myth and history...
Martin and Mike reach back into those mists to uncover the tangled tale of folklore, religious heresy, slander and superstition behind the legend of the Jersey Devil.

In myths and legends across Europe -- and beyond -- one strange scenario plays out time and time again: a spectral horde thundering across the night sky, pursuing otherworldly prey, or clamouring for battle. Monstrous creatures, werewolves, trolls, old gods and fairy folk. Their arrival foretelling war or natural disaster... the terrifying procession known as the Wild Hunt.
In this special Christmas episode, we explore appearances of the Wild Hunt in legend and history, seek out its possible origins, and examine its unseen influence on modern Christmas celebrations.

The police quickly ruled her death a suicide, but on return to her native Sweden, a series of forensic clues and strange coincidences were noted that cast troubling doubts on the conclusions of the Scottish authorities, and exposed a web of sinister connections encompassing a predatory impostor, clandestine operations, and CIA torture flights...

The World's End Murders -- an apt name for such an appalling crime -- rattled the city of Edinburgh in October 1977. Helen Scott and Christine Eadie, two bright, fun-loving 17-year-olds, disappeared from a busy pub in the heart of the city. The following day, miles away in East Lothian, their bodies were found strangled and coldly discarded. The girls had last been seen in the company of two unknown men… So began a true crime mystery, and a search for justice that would span forty years. A search that would finally bring to light a hidden, twisting trail of death and misery left in the wake of one man... a serial killer whose catalogue of crimes had gone little noticed and unconnected for decades… Website: talkingtilldawn.com Twitter: @TalkingTill Email: [email protected] Support Talking till Dawn: patreon.com/talkingtilldawn This episode contains discussion of murder and sexual assault, which some listeners may find distressing.
